I had a severe disc herniation could not sit. My legs would go numb and the pain was excruciating! Dr. Rieger is great surgeon! Saved me! 2 weeks after surgery, I can sit, walk, and the pain is gone! Things you take for granted in life. 5 stars for this gentleman! Thank you

Dishonest, lazy physician who sneaks in codes with higher payouts, committing insurance fraud as a matter of course. My husband was seen for no more than a few minutes, and no history was taken or exam done. No scripts written for PT. He was told to come back in a week if his back pain hadn't improved. This is a clear 99201 office visit code that should warrant the lowest charge for a visit (though the visit didn't even meet these basic requirements), and yet he was charged for a mid-level visit, 99203, which should have required a full history, comprehensive exam, coordination with other physicians, etc. Doctor/office refused to change code. Insurance co lets them get away with it, so don't expect them to protect you from overcharging, especially if you have a high-deductible plan (because you're on the hook for the charges before your deductible kicks in--your insurance company just approves them). You MUST find an honest physician to avoid being ripped off and always, always check your bills. And, it goes without saying, avoid this practice at all costs.

Dr. Rieger is simply the best of the best. Will make you comfortable from the minute you meet him. His staff is top notch and professional. 7 Weeks post Laminectomy and walking 3 miles a day feeling better than I've felt in years. He will try everything to not perform surgery. Great conservative approach. Cannot say enough about this wonderful office. Dave C.

Did a great job on my back

I highly recommend Dr.Rieger for anyone suffering from sciatic nerve pain. I had a great experience, great staff, and easy to talk to. Dr. Rieger did an excellent job while I was under his care.

After a year over trying every conservative treatment available without success for a Neck injury related to a Motor Vehicle Accident I found my way to Dr. Rieger . He knew exactly what the problem was and what to do about it. I needed a surgical solution. I was very nervous about surgery. But, Dr. Rieger was very reassuring and easy to talk to and put my fears at ease. I have found him to be kind, compassionate , accessible, a great listener, non- judgmental, extremely skilled, and extremely knowledgable. He has good humor, patience, is trustworthy, answers all my questions .. ( I have a lot of them! ) He went above and beyond; to ensure my best surgical outcome . There’s a word for this kind of commitment, passion and skill…….. Outstanding ! I highly recommend him !

I was reaended in my car by another car traveling about 30 or 40 miles per hour, if I had to guess the speed by the feeling of the impact. My back was severely injured in this accident and I was recommended by several people to see Dr. Rigger. He has reviewed my X-rays and MRIs as well as extensive tests in his office. Dr. Rieger explaned exactly what my back did in response to the collision and explaned exactly what he is going to do in my upcoming surgery so well that I left his office with an incredible understanding of the procedure he is going to perfor and precisely what to expect. Dr. Rieger was VERY patient with all of the questions I asked him, which were many, about the procedure and I feel so at ease going into this operation. I will post another comment after my surgery and let you know how things went but, from all the patients I was able to talk to, I was amazed at the abundance of glowing reports from 100% of his post operation patients that was able to speak with. I have seen Dr. Gerstman as well and he has given me a couple of steroid shots in area of my back that were in the most pain and I acctally look forward to my next one because they went so smoothly and were very effective. All of the staff at New Jersey Spine Center have been overwhelmingly patient with me and treated me so well with scheduling and making sure I was scheduled around my schedule. I highly recommend Dr.Rieger for anyone suffering from sciatic nerve pain. I had my own surgery done with him and was very pleased with the overall experience from the very first appointment until now. Between the office visits with his staff, the actual operation to the post op care he has provided me I can't decide which was the best. The office staff is wonderful and diligent,well educated and extremely helpful. Dr Rieger himself is an incredible physician that not only made my nerve pain go away but provided me with the best care possible while doing it. He has impeccable bedside manner and provided me with the confidence that everything would be OK despite the stressful and painful situation I was in. I am extremely happy with my overall experience and am so happy that I decided to go through this with Dr.Rieger by myside.

I would first like to say thank you to Dr. Rieger for all the help he has provided me the last three months. I suffered from terrible back pain and sciatic nerve pain for several years, which made my daily life stressful. After being told I needed a full spinal fusion from another surgeon, I was referred to Dr. Rieger by several people for a second opinion. After meeting with him and discussing my condition he determined that a Laminectomy should ease my pain and condition. His bedside manner was tremendous, and his sense of humor put me at ease. I had my surgery 9 weeks ago, and I can honestly say I am pain free for the first time in over 5 years. I would recommend this Doctor to anyone. Thanks for giving me my life back.

Dr.Rieger is not only an outstanding surgeon, but his amazing bedside manner makes him the tops . I was referred to Dr. Rieger from one of his colleagues and I'm truly blessed that I was able to be a patient of his. Dr Reiger was my second opinion after an unhappy experience with the first. Dr Reiger explained the cause of my stenosis and spondylisis And exactly what he would do to fix it .it was his clear and technical information and confidence which made me go ahead with the surgery .7 weeks post surgery I am pain free can stand. Up straight and walk 3/4 mile . Thank you Dr Reiger I never it possible at 68 years old.Would recommend Dr Reiger to anyone

I've had back problems for years. Having lived in Florida for 19 years before returning back to NJ I had my first 3 surgeries there and I had a fantastic doctor, one that set the bar quite high. In Dr. Rieger I found a physician that met the standards that I had set. i knew I was in for an extremely complicated procedure and had spent a year looking for a doctor...I couldn't have made a better choice. Although I had complications after surgery, including a fractured spine, Dr. Rieger is a Wonderful, compassionate and skilled surgeon. The day we discovered my fracture, I could see that he was as upset as I was. I've recommended many patients to him (yes, I work in the medical field) and not one person has been disappointed.

Dr Rieger and his team at the nj spine ctr are awesome. He was recommended by a friend after I was unable to walk after a herniated disk. He diagnosed the issue perfectly from the start, went in depth regarding treatment options. I chose surgery and within two days the disk was removed. I was able to walk (slowly) out of the hospital hours after surgery. He and his teams follow up was outstanding. Six weeks later, I am able to resume most normal activities. I would recommend Dr Rieger to anyone.

I had the opportunity to have Dr. Rieger as my surgeon numerous times. Back in 2012, he performed an L5/S1 fusion and more recently in 2015 a C7-T2 posterior fusion and later on an anterior C7-T2 fusion. I cannot say enough positive comments about him, he took the time out to explain every X-ray, M.R.I. and nerve conduction study. His office and bedside manner was above and beyond what one would expect. He is one of the most PROFESSIONAL and caring physicians that I've ever met.

I recently underwent spinal surgery through the New Jersey Spine Center in Chatham, NJ. My surgeon, Dr. Kenneth Rieger, insisted on meeting with me twice before the surgery, unlike some doctors who deal with their patients like they were damaged pieces of machinery on an assembly line â?? you meet with them once, and the next time you see them an anesthesiologist is telling you to count back from ten. While explaining my procedure and the anticipated results, Dr. Rieger was always warm, honest, and professional. Both he and the entire staff at the Spine Center are among the best medical personnel I have ever encountered. The outcome of my surgery was better than even I had expected. I shall be eternally in Dr. Riegerâ??s debt because he literally gave me back the ability to use my legs without constant pain. His humor, kindness, and caring made this surgery an exceptionally positive experience, and the outcome was a genuine blessing.

Dr. Rieger was extremely nice and caring. He did an excellent job on my spinal fusion and decompression. Thanks to him I am now pain free, for which I am ever grateful. I would highly recommend him to everyone.

Dr. Rieger amazed me with how nice and personable he was the way he explained everything to me and showed me what was wrong after a 3 level laminectomy with some relief we have to do a fusion I actually saw 2 other Neuro-Surgeons and they both corallated the same thing so I will be using Dr. Rieger to do this Surgery...I trust him 100%....
