Dr. Kulbir S. Walia, MD

I have serious medical problems that require managing pain and had the good fortune of meeting Dr Walia. He has years of experience and a wealth of knowledge in his specialty of pain management that separates him from other doctors. He is committed to improving his patients quality of life and has done that for me . He goes above and beyond and is one of the best doctors I have had because of his sincere determination to make a difference for each patient. I highly recommend Dr. Walia. He is a very fine doctor with an excellent bed side manner as well.

I have suffered with L4-L5, L5-S1 disc herniations for over 30 years. Over the last 5 years the gnawing pain and neurological symptoms of these herniations have progressed rapidly. I sought a prognosis from Dr. Walia as a conservative alternative to surgery. Dr. Walia is a very professional and highly skilled physician! He genuinely listened to me, immediately allayed my fears and assured me that surgery was not my only option. Dr. Walia thoroughly educated me. He explained how various pain management procedures were available to relieve my constant discomfort and injuries. With my deepest appreciation to Dr. Walia and his kind assistant, Laurie, I have found pain relief and can maintain an active lifestyle because of their expert care. I was amazed when Dr. W. saw my problem differently from the orthopedist, named the exact problem, and fixed it. Explained things IN-DEPTH and even asked if had any other questions at the end. Who does that??? Love him. Not crazy about the call center. Hard to get through.

Dr. Walia has treated me for many years now and I have to say he is absolutely brilliant when it comes to treating pain and the issues that come with dependency I started with prescription medications after a car accident left me incapacitated for 5 years, by following his advice, through the use of physical therapy, exercise and injections yearly I am pain free. I am a true believer of non narcotic pain relief as Dr Walia has offered me several different options which truly help to relieve sudden onsets of pain due to conditions surrounding my lower spine pain, post surgical cervical spine pain and arthritis that has settled in my neck With daily stretching, exercise and normal activity I was able to return to a full time job and I lead a very normal life I am grateful for the care I receive at Premier Pain and will continue to seek advice and follow his directives so that I can enjoy a pain free existence

Very compassionate doctor

I had very bad pain in my left leg and had difficulty walking. I had constant burning pain in my thy and calf. I went to Dr Walia and he gave me an injection in my back and so far the pain is gone 95%. I feel great again.

Dr. Kulbir Walia is a true physician with a keen mind & a quick wit. His analyses take all input & perspectives in, & his prognoses & plans of action are well thought out. He is strict & conservative with the issue of prescriptions, which might annoy some people. In my first sessions with him, the two herniated disks diagnosis & plan of attack included epidural injections & physical therapy. The epidurals eased the pain which allowed me to take on the PT. As the PT progressed, I complained that the pain had come back, sometimes worse than before. Dr Walia intervened & after further discussion & diagnosis, prescribed that I go to a gastroenterologist for CT scan & a colonoscopy. I said i had had a colonoscopy less that a year before. He strongly advised me to goâ??& I did. The results showed that I had an early stage of cancer causing the pain the lowest extent of the rectal colon, precisely where neither the injections nor the PT could reach. He saved my life with that keen, out of the box diagnosis! Two years later, I am totally cancer free, & back with him to manage the original disk problem & things are going great. Six months my wife had torn her rotator cuff & broke her arm. I had no qualms about recommending to her (or anyone else) to Dr. Walia when the orthopedists recommended pain management & PT.

I went to Dr. Walia at Premier Pain Center in Shrewsbury, NJ at the suggestion of a friend. I was suffering from multiple herniated discs in my lower back and lumbar region and had been treating the problem with painkillers for two years (under the guidance of a doctor from NYU/Langone Medical Center/Center for Musculoskeletal Care) but I'd gotten to the point where the drugs were no longer helping. Dr. Walia sat with me for a full hour and asked me a seemingly endless list of questions. Pain is a difficult thing to locate and alleviate sometimes so I was willing to answer every one of them. He determined that I might find some relief from an epidural injection (with the caveat that each patient responds differently but, in his opinion, it was my best option.) I had the injection (which was painless and swift and required only a morning of fasting before the procedure and someone to drive me home afterwards). The results took a few days to present themselves, but that may have been residual soreness from months of walking hunched over and tensed up. Within a week I was pain-free, back to running (gently) on a treadmill, and able to sleep through the night (without waking up in agony or spasm). It's hard to express what a dibilitating effect my pain had on my everyday life and how intrusive and disruptive it was to my happiness. I feel like I'm "me" again (after being a grumpy and miserable person in pain for the better part of a year). I highly recommend the doctor and his expertise. I found him thoughtful, efficient, and concerned only with helping me address the discomfort I was feeling.

I went to see Dr walia several times on different occasions very knowledgeable excellent bedside manners and very caring for his patients he goes above and beyond and I will recommend him to anybody if you were looking for a pain management doctor I would highly recommend him,I also took his time and explained everything very thorough to me

Wish I had found Dr Walia sooner!! He is extremely attentive and listens to the patient. Answers all questions and concerns and does a very thorough exam. Not only does he have a wonderful beside manner, I truly believe he cares for his patients. His office staff is wonderful in both locations I have seen him several times and each time have the same experience.
