Dr. Laura F Dabney, MD

I met with Dr. Laura Dabney for a VA claim appt in Oct 2021. The meeting only lasted ~25 mins and I was extremely dissatisfied. She made me feel very uncomfortable like she did not want to be there and rushed through the questions with an extreme lack of empathy. I HIGHLY advise anyone to immediately reschedule with another provider if you find yourself unlucky enough to be on her schedule.

I saw Dr Dabney today for a C&P exam for the VA. I have a lot of mental health issues and was overly anxious about the appointment but i felt like I could be open and honest and she did a great job actively listening! Thank you Dr. Dabney

She really helped me with my issues, which there were many. I love that she didn’t throw medication in my face either! I can’t stand that stuff. I highly recommend her for counseling!

I was quite frightened at the prospect of going to a psychiatrist. I have this believe that I would be spilling out my feelings in there would be little or no response from the other side. In the case of Dr. Dabney, nothing could be further from the truth. She is helping me work through relationship issues and I feel I'm off to a fresh start. Highly recommended.

Dr. Dabney's staff is exceptional. Caring and helpful. Working with Dr. Dabney changed my life. You don't feel like just another number, she truly cares about your and your wellbeing.

I will say that I worked with both Dr. Dabney and the life coach she has on staff, Ms. Brant. I saw Dr. Dabney for about a year, and we both decided that I was doing pretty well but I was NOT ready to just be done with therapy. Dr. Dabney recommended I continue treatment by doing life coaching with Ms. Brant, before stopping treatment completely. I was hesitant at first, but after working with her for about six months it helped me maintain all the "new tools" I learned from Dr. Dabney and helped me stay accountable. To this day, although I am out of treatment I use what Dr. Dabney and Ms. Brant taught me in a LOT of my relationships. (I began seeking them due to trouble with my adult children.)

Honestly, I don't normally do reviews but I was very impressed so I felt compelled to leave one! I don't even know where to begin, she was so caring and thoughtful from the second I walked in the door. She made me feel comfortable the whole time I was there! I highly recommend her for marriage counseling!

When I was in a dark place, Dr. Dabney had the insight and knowledge to help me figure out ways to maneuver out. Highly recommend!

The staff made me feel comfortable I was unsure about even showing up for my appointment. Once I stepped into the office I realized it was worth it. If I can give anyone advice is to not be scared to go to therapy. Dr. Dabney explained how it would be worth it if I put in the work. It was hard, but in the end I am happy I did it.

I have seen a few therapists in my day, and a lot of the times I would go every other week and it was helpful short term but I noticed I always needed to go back. When I was looking again after a rocky time with my spouse I found Dr. Dabney. She basically explained to me that if I only went every other week it would waste time and money because I wouldn’t make progress. She pushed me to come weekly and I was skeptical but decided to try. Well, she was right, I know it was hard and there times I wanted to stop but I was in treatment for 6 months and I was actually able to keep using the tools and help with boundaries Dr. Dabney helped me with!

Dr. Dabney is truly focused on results for her clients. I went to her knowing that I had some things I needed to work out, but I tend to drag my feet. She was able to explain to me how she WANTS to help me but to help me, I needed to commit to treatment. She said how getting results and making changes only happen if you stay committed to therapy. It was hard at first, but I stuck with it for 9 months and feel as though I am on the right track and that I know how to actually handle and process my emotions. Something I never wanted to do in the past.

Dr. Dabney has taught me so much in the past year! She is very skilled and insightful. Dr. Dabney provides many online resources and is continually sharing helpful information online via her website and social media. She truly enjoys helping others, and I love the message she shares, that it is possible to repair a relationship without the couple. If you are thinking about therapy, I encourage you to call her.

I have been following Dr. Dabney for 5 years now and I honestly can say that I have been using her advise in my relationship and it has helped our communication 10 fold. I also have been able to see things in the perspective of my partner and better understand his needs as well as being able to let him know mine without the throwing it in his face attitude. If you haven't already look into all the offers and services she has to give. Its well worth it!
