When I spoke with Dr. Gagliano about physical addiction to loperamide, he immediately discounted the possibility. It is well documented that loperamide acts upon multiple opioid receptors and can cause severe withdrawal upon discontinuation. Additionally, he prescribed Thorazine for opioid withdrawal; a very outdated, highly risky treatment that was replaced with significantly more effective, safer treatments decades ago. He is unqualified to treat any form of narcotic addiction and is a danger to potential patients who are dealing with these problems. I would advise anyone seeking a psychiatrist specializing in drug treatment to steer clear of Dr. Gagliano, as he has proven to be a hazard to the health of many.
