Dr. LOUIS C. SAEGER, MD is DOUBLE BOARD CERTIFIED in ANESTHESIOLOGY & PAIN MEDICINEDr. Lou Saeger earned his MD degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and entered private practice in 1986, after completing his residency in Anesthesiology with the University of Washington, and a two-year NIH fellowship in Pain Research with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. He is Board-Certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and is a World Institute of Pain Fellow in Interventional Pain Practice.Since the early 1990s, Dr. Saeger’s practice has focused on the diagnosis and treatment of spine-related pain. After moving to the Twin Cities area in 2003, he established the Interventional Division of Midwest Spine Institute, and has collaborated with Dr. Glenn Buttermann on studies of spinal biomechanics in an animal model for testing an artificial disc prototype, and more recently was a co-investigator on an award-winning study of epidural injection
of amniotic fluid for low back pain.He has assumed a leadership role in Minnesota, serving on the chronic pain guidelines working group of the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement, and as past President and current Director at Large of the Minnesota Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and represents the Minnesota Medical Association on the Department of Health’s X-ray Safety Advisory Committee.Since establishing Premier Spine and Pain Clinics as an independent practice with its own state-of-the-art procedure suite in 2020, Dr. Saeger has expanded his services to include regenerative medicine options for both spine and musculoskeletal problems, using either fluoroscopy or ultrasound guidance for precisely targeted treatments including PRP, BMAC, or other advanced biologic modalities.PREMIER SPINE & PAIN CLINICINTERVENTIONAL PAIN MANAGEMENT IN EDINA, MNDepending on the specific nature and source of pain, a variety of interventional pain procedures may be considered. These procedures always utilize x-ray (fluoroscopy) or ultrasound guidance and may include injections of medications into symptomatic parts of the spine, specific peripheral nerves, injured ligaments, tendons, muscles, or bursal structures, or joints. Dr. Saeger has decades of experience with injection therapy, radiofrequency neurotomy, and spinal cord stimulation, and frequently teaches these techniques as a senior instructor for the Spine Intervention Society. Other minimally invasive surgical procedures may be appropriate for some conditions, and Dr. Saeger continues to expand the range of options he can offer, as technology progresses in this evolving field. The focus of Dr. Saeger’s practice is on interventional therapies rather than pain medication management. He works in close collaboration with other surgical specialists, neurologists, primary care providers, physical therapists, chiropractors, and other members of a comprehensive care team, and as specific circumstances require. We would love to make a difference for you. Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews

Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.

Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.
