Dr. Luis Jorge Contreras, MD

Dr. Contreras and his staff greatly helped me get through a terrible bout of Covid. Their quick response and treatment eased my symptoms. They are the best.

It shocks me that his ratings aren't higher. You will never find another doctor in Hernando County, or the state of FL for that matter, who truly cares for his patients. He's been my doctor for about 10 years now, and I can't imagine ever wanting to replace him. He's smart, caring, and, best of all--he actually LISTENS to his patients. Can you imagine that? At a time when most physicians barely look you in the eye during your appointment, Dr. Contreras takes his time, does a thorough exam, and always make time for any questions you might have. I wish there was a 10-star rating I could give him!

Very thorough doctor. Takes the time to review patient file and answer any questions you may have. Excellent bedside manner. His staff seems very ornery last time I was there. They may have just been having a bad day but it makes for an uncomfortable experience.

He is a Doctor you can NOT question. His attitude towards my questions turned me off. If you want a dictator and not a Doctor that cares about your concerns then keep him as for me and my family I will not come here again. J

D. Confreres is an excellent Doctor. Very thorough, caring. Takes time with you and listens.

I am not exactly the easiest patient for Doctors to deal with, but Dr. Contreras is among the easiest Doctors I have dealt with. He is knowledgeable, and keeps up to date on issues. I will recommend him to any and all.

I think that's the name of the game at this practice.

I read Mr. A's review with interest. I was appalled. My experience with this doctor was more akin to a robbery than what was represented by Mr. A. On further thought and only my opinion, the review reads as if written by a particular employee of this doctor than by a real patient. The review reads like a TV commercial. One has to wonder that if this doctor is so wonderful, why are so many other patients writing bad reviews?

I have lived in Florida for 18 yrs and I have changed Physican 3 times because the first two doctors I was seeing were not very well suited for me. The third doctor that I really liked a lot and was great, but he moved out of state. I am the type of person that if I get a clean bill of health I go to the doctor at least once a year. Here lately I go every few months because I need med monitoring. I met Dr. Contreras and his hard working staff a few years ago. I have to say what an amazing doctor he is. Dr. Contreras is kind, very professional, and very caring and understanding. He leaves no I undotted and T uncrossed as his front desk receptionist said toe on the phone when making my first appointment. I also asked the girl if he was a good doctor. She said absolutely sir. I said I'll be the judge of that. Well after my visit with him I tell ya 'll I was so very impressed with the man. Iam a patient of his for 2+ yrs now, and I will never change doctors ever! No matter what as long as I am not dead and problems are fixable I am set. Nobody is perfect doctors look out for their patients and only good ones like Dr. Contreras but we have to want the care he gives. Despite of what ever I read in his patient reviews I think everybody and I say this with respect if you don't have nothing nice to say don't say it at all!!!! The reality is ....its hard to please everybody. I recommend him to everyone I know and will recommend him to everybody. The office staff is pleasant and very welcoming, and caring too. I have never been to a doctors office and see the staff smiling, and welcoming patients making them laugh even when they are miserable at Dr. Contreras' office. I am genuinely happy to say I have an excellent doctor! At Dr. Contreras office you are a patient not a number.

Keep a check on your insurance coverage. They will drop coverage in a heart beat and not bother to tell you that they are no longer in network until the claims start coming back unpaid. When confronted and asked why you were not informed, the answers range from: "keeping up with insurance is so complicated", "I'm so very sorry for you", "why don't you change insurance companies", "let me see what I can do and I will call you back", which does not happen. None of this solves the issue of 3 office visits, 2 x-rays, 1 c-scan and a referral to a specialist which my insurance will not pay for as I was no longer seeing an in network primary care doctor. Not to mention the fact that I now have to go to someone else, in the middle of my treatment, and try to get the referrals I need to repair my problem. Very, very unhappy with the office staff. The doctor himself is nice, not always attentive on routine visits, but good with problems. He needs to pay attention to what is going on in the front office and make improvements.

Having to deal with the staff at this office is not worth your time, aggravation, and frustration. Terrible!!!!

So, would you like to have less care and testing than required based on your medical history? How about being billed incorrectly, persistently hounded for payment, and ignored as to requests for correction of errors? Finally, how about a good measure of ego, arrogance and bad manners? If this is your cup of tea, then this is the physician for you!

He is outstanding, listens, and fixes the problem.

My mother is 78 years old , has numerous issue that go hand in hand with her age. She has been a patient of Dr. Contreras for approx. 2 yrs now. She just saw Dr. Contreras approx. 6 weeks prior. Over a weekend Saturday morning my mother woke up with a severe tooth ache. She didn't have a dentist so I called her primary care. Assuming he would feel some compassion to maybe treat her with an antibiotic though the weekend until Monday (what I would call a 3 days supply in medical terms) just to keep the infection under controll since she had a heart condition MVP which infections could effect the heart. Great Dr Contreras only answer was go to the emergency room or urgent care?? kind of dumb founded I was shocked he didn't feel the need to do anything NO ADVISE ONLY GO TO ER!!What kind of Dr is he NO COMPASSION TO A CARING DOCTOR> so after Monday morning we may be continuing this review. I feel the need to write this because this same situation happened to my husband just a week earlier, we didn't have a dentist I called his Primary Care of all of 4 months who was concerned and called in an antibiotic, gave instructions with ice etc. When I said to his will take my husband to the dentist on Monday, his doctor said wait a few days since the dentist couldn't do anything until the infection is down. Now that is what a real doctor should have done !!But No Dr. Contreras only will send you to the ER and RUN UP THE COST OF INSURANCE !!! BE CAUTIOUS THIS DR HAS NO COMPASSION OR MEDICAL CONCERNS FOR HIS PATIENTS !!!!!!

Dr Contreras is a very personable doctor" easy to talk to and I can rely on an honest answer from him. Very caring person, through examination and consultation every time. Im greatful to be in his care and I have complete confidence in his knowledge. * I have had dificulty with his receptionist Rosa" getting an appointment scheduled in less than 60 days. She is his front line ~ I suggest he monitors incomming calls better somehow. Hopeful for resolution :)

I have been seeing Dr. Contreras for several years now. I find him to be attentive and genuinely caring about your medical concerns. He and his staff do not quickly herd you in and out like cattle because they have over booked patients. He takes the time to listen and that is a quality lacking in most doctor's offices these days. I have spent more time in some waiting rooms than time spent with the doctor which has never happened at his office.

I have found Dr. Contreras to be be very thorough and caring and he has made a big difference in my health in just 5 months whereas my previous Dr. ignored my complaints. I am grateful for him and his caring manner and truly feel he cares and highly recommend him for your healthcare.

Dr. Contreras and his staff are very professional and caring. I am very pleased with the service that I receive with Dr. Contreras, my whole family has changed to Dr. Contreras as their primary care provider.
