Dr. Maria Bonet Newman, MD

I just had my second colonoscopy with Dr. Newman. I just love her and her team!!?? ??% recommended!!! I also have my endoscopy done with her. My second one around the corner. Dr. Newman and her team take great care of me. I have no problems during or after the procedures. I am in and out. Like I didn't even have it done. It's like I take a good 20 minute nap. Thank you so much for your care. ??????

Excellent experience. Super easy procedure, felt great after. Dr. Newman is a great doctor with a caring heart. Her staff was top notch as well. Will continue to see her in the future.

She is very caring and takes the time to talk and listen to you I would recommend her to anyone she is the absolute sweetest Dr I know.

From the receptionists to the prep nurses, this was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Registration was by far the easiest I have encountered in all of my procedures. Dr Newman is awesome and has a great personality. Can’t wait for the next time(sarcasm), but I would recommend this group to anyone.

I had my first colonoscopy with Dr Newman, and it went as well as a colonoscopy can go. She was great!

I’ve had digestive issues for years. Dr Newman listened to me and we carefully discussed options together. Although my 1st colonoscopy was a fail due to poor prep ( not her fault, severe blockage) the problem was solved with the second. I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes. I would recommend her. My complaints was how long it took to schedule the initial appointment and a billing issue but it was resolved.

The office wait time is ridiculous. Waited over an hour at office visit. I scheduled my endoscopy to be first of the morning; still waited 45 minutes because she was running late. Tried weeks and months of medicines and various tests only to solve the problem with surgery. She seemed more concerned with changing my diet and taking medications. She was very dismissive to my opinion.

It starts with her nurse, very rude and lack of compassion and communication from patient to doctor. Won’t go in to details of colonoscopy but let’s just say I have ongoing problems For 8 months now . I will never go back to this Doctor!!

Dr Newman took the time to answer all my questions, and she and her staff were super helpful and understanding when I made a "special request" regarding my procedure today. They went out of their way to help, and I appreciated it. They called me to follow up to make sure I was doing ok. Even the billing nurse was kind and expressed concern and sympathy over the fact that my insurance was not helping me out much with the costs.

Yes, she's kept me waiting; she's a doctor. But she's always answered my questions and guided me well. I'm impressed with the facility and love all the nurses and surgical assistants.

Buyer Beware, if you are assigned to Maria Newman, make sure you ask to change Doctors before your first appointment. Once you are on the books with a Dr. at GIA, they will not let you change physicians. My husband was re-assigned to Dr. Newman after his Dr. passed away. He has endured two appointments with her at this point, and refuses to go back. She was late by an hour and a half for the last appointment. He was given no apology. During both appointments she was been in a hurry just to get out of the room and literally could care less. This makes us question her abilities as a physician. Since we will not be able to change Doctors, we will be changing groups.

My impression of Dr. Newman is she wants to get you in and out. No questions, no detail and not a lot of time given. The thing is once you see her and if you get on her wrong side or you want to see another doctor -there is no changing to another doctor in the practice. She apparently is offended by any questions. Good luck if she cannot diagnose your problem.

I have seen Dr. Newman for many years and over time she has become more apt to fail to communicate. At one time I needed to have 2 diagnostic appointments with other doctors. Dr. Newman made the suggestion however did not let me set up the appointments. Only to have her nurse arrange the appointments and notify me of the date and time for each. For a colonoscopy procedure, I had arrived by 7 am and had to wait for Dr. Newman for over an hour. No explanation or apology was offered by the staff or Dr. Newman. I was later informed by a nice nurse that Dr. Newman had been held up in traffic due to a car accident. I have always noticed other patients going back a lot quicker than me for colonoscopy procedures. The final deciding factor is recently I had called to set up the appointment for a procedure that is done every 3 years to be told that it was changed to every 5 years. I questioned Dr. Newman on that and why I wasn't informed and why no explanation had been given. She took great insult and refused to see me as a patient and I am not allowed to see another doctor in the practice. She does not appear to have the time for her patients. A good doctor is also a good communicator with their patients. Not a fan anymore.

I scheduled an appointment with this doctor three weeks in advance and arrived ten minutes early for my appointment. Though, I waited for over 30 minutes before anyone would see me. When someone finally did see me, it was to tell me that Dr. Newman couldn't treat me because she didn't have my medical records (why weren't these requested weeks in advance if this was gonna be a problem????), and that there was some sort of conflict of interest from nearly 15 years ago (when I was younger and still in college) with another doctor who's already retired from Dr. Newman's practice area. Long story short, this woman wouldn't even take the time to see me or even speak to me one-on-one about the fact that she would not treat me--she merely had a nurse do it. My question is, if you need medical records, why not request them weeks before the actual appointment? Also, if there's some bizarre issue with another doctor who no longer practices from more than 10 years before, then maybe don't schedule appointments, be unprofessional and unhelpful at the appointment, and waste a potential patient's time, money, and effort to go all the way out to your office for absolutely nothing. This appointment was a disaster and this office is completely unprofessional and uncaring about patients...Shameful!

I was very impressed with Dr. Newman. She is very nice and willing to answer any questions; am glad I found her.
