Dr. Marisel Cancel-Mendez, MD

Dr. Cancel-Mendez just happened to be the doctor I was able to get in to see when I couldn't get out of bed one morning to go to work because of depression. I couldn't explain everything that was going on in my life in a ten minute visit, but Dr. Cancel Mendez took the time to sit down and listen to me cry. She seemed to not just understand medically what was going on, but she was genuinely sympathetic. She was able to get me connected with a therapist who worked with her on getting me the right medication. What I appreciated the most about Dr. Cancel-Mendez was her ability to talk straight with me about what I needed to do to take better care of myself. She didn't try to simply treat with medication. She gave practical advice that she emphasized as being an important part of treatment for depression.
