I became aware of a skin lesion on my back that was concerning. I contacted Dr Boland at his Fulton Co Medical Center office. I was concerned about the lesion and worried about the possibility of a melanoma. Dr Boland saw me that day and assured me that the lesion,much to my relief, was a benign growth as a result of sun damage. He removed it as well as two others. He was comforting, very professional and pleasant.

I have been a patient of Dr. Boland's for many years. I have had multiple skin lesions, blebs, moles, etc. removed; have had stitches placed for deep cuts and wounds. He has sutured my son from the time he was an infant and then for head wounds and more. He is thorough, caring, gentle and humble. He talks and communicates in easy to understand lay language and doesn't play the role of haughty doctor and bamboozle us with fancy medical terminology. My family trusts him with all of our heart and soul.

Excellent results with perfect healing. No scar and no pain when injected with the numbing medicine.

I have been using Dr Boland for many various skin lesions over the past 15 years. He has always been kind and his staff always courteous. They always run on time when I have an appointment and I will continue to use his services.

After my consultation, and asking a number of educated questions, I was convinced that he didn't have enough experience for the surgery that I was looking to have done. He appeared rather disheveled and mumbled unintelligibly at times. Obviously, my search for a plastic surgeon did not end with that consultation. My advice, based off of my experience, is to not even consider this surgeon.

Do yourself a favor and find another plastic surgeon

He's a great doctor if you don't mind getting a hepatitis and HIV test, and paying for it yourself. He uses dirty equipment and puts his patients lives at risk. Look it up yourself, before you schedule your appointment. Also, he's a creep! He doesn't even deserve one star!

After meeting Dr. Boland and allowing him to give me a shot to numb my skin for a biopsy, I decided he was creepy and his office looked dirty, so I left his office without having the biopsy completed. Consequently, I was not surprised when I received a "Dear Patient" letter suggesting that I be tested (at my own expense) for Hep B and C and HIV. Now I hear he financed a local gym (now closed) for a convicted steroid dealer! Why does that not surprise me, either?

See Bob's review below and ditto for me. I am one of several thousand people treated over the past 2 years by him, and now we need to get $500 tests to see if we have HIV or hepatitis because this guy could not be bothered to clean his instruments properly. Nice.

I was referred by my family physician to Boland to remove a growth on the back of my head near the top. My family physician had removed a very small growth on my forehead that when biopsied tested positive as being a squeamish cell ( not sure of the spelling) carcinoma. It was so small that the biopsy completely removed it and recommended Boland to check out the larger growth on the back of my head. On my first visit Boland recommended that I come back and have it removed which I did a few weeks later. Since the growth was on the back of my head I couldn't see what he was doing ( nor did he offer to explain the procedure) which consisted of what sounded like a small saw. The only thing I could see was an almost life size picture of the politician Rick Santorum taped to the wall about 5feet in front of me. When he was finished ( about 5minutes later) he told me to schedule a follow up appointment in a few weeks. When I went back for the appointment he told me all looked well. When I asked him what were the results of the biopsy he informed me he didn't need one to come to his conclusion ( which he never told me if in his opinion it had been malignant or not). I paid a visit to my family physician a few weeks later and asked him if it wasn't standard procedure to have a biopsy done, he informed me that everything should be. When I told mine had not been and related my experience, he said that I was the 2nd patient in as many weeks to complain about Boland and that he would no longer be referring any patients to him. Several months later the growth returned and I went to a different surgeon who biopsied it and the results were positive. He then removed it ( using a scalpel not a saw or grinder) and when he was finished explained to me that the growth had tentacles under my scalp and the only proper way to remove it was to cut it out. It has not returned. Last week I received a letter from Dr Boland's office stating that the Pa, Department if Health had paid his office a visit ( more like a raid) and concluded that proper sterilization procedures had not been practiced at his office ( the letter read like it had been written by an Attorney) and recommended that I be tested for hepatitis b and c and hu. The virus that causes aids. The cost of these tests is appx. $500 dollars and in no way did the letter suggest that Bo,and or his insurance co. Is accepting financial responsibility for these tests. There is now a class action suit against Boland for the text costs which could number in the thousands of patients which would be a substantial amount of money if all are tested. I should get my text results back next week.

What a disaster!!! I had a scar revision done by Boland that needed a secondary revision to produce the best result. The original revision went well and it looked as though everything was going to work out yet when Boland executed the secondary revision, he messed everything up due to poor surgical technique (confirmed by another plastic surgeon). Of course, Boland copped a major attitude and blamed me for the poor outcome of the surgery. Maybe the fact that he was in a heated argument with his wife, while both of them stood in the receptionist's area of his office, the day of my surgery, should have tipped me off that surgery from him might not the best idea...at least not at that moment. I just could not believe how unprofessional he was as he stood there screaming at her, in front of me. That just showed me how little he thinks of his patients. Shortly thereafter, word on the street was that Boland's wife was stopped for another incident and I am not stating this to belittle her but rather to express how badly I feel and to show some sympathy. Based off of my limited experience in dealing with Boland, I would definitely have to drink in order to put up with him on a daily basis. One last thing: as I consulted with other plastic surgeons in order to try to get Boland's mess cleaned up, I quickly realized that he has no respect from any of the other surgeons with which I consulted. They have respect for each other but Boland is basically the "laughing stock" of the other area plastic surgeons. Do yourself a huge favor and don't even consider this surgeon as he is simply too much of a gamble.

dr. boland and staff are highly recommended.i received a breast augmentaion from him and he spent much time time making sure i was happy. he is a perfectionist when it comes to his work. very happy with results.
