Dr. Mark Kevin Bowen, MD

From my first consultation with Dr.Bowen I felt confident in my surgery. He made the right call with repairing with my hamstring. He is very nice and patient. I really would recommend him to anyone.

I highly recommend Dr. Bowen. He repaired my right rotator cuff from a ski injury and removed a bone spur from 25 years of playing tennis and paddle that did not show up on the MRI. He repaired my rotator and removed my bone spur. Today I am completely pain free and have full extension of my right arm. My shoulder is better than ever with no visible scar. I am so pleased with the results!

23 years later and 5 surgeries with Dr. Bowen and I am still playing competitive Ice Hockey. Ego's are large in the Sports Medicine space, and the first time I met Dr. Bowen, I knew immediately that he checks his at the door and provides the honest guidance and incredible skill needed on a surgery journey. The outcome of every surgery exceeded my expectations and repaired my damaged joints (knees/shoulder) with longterm return on investment. After my recent shoulder repair my wife commented that women must love him as you cannot see the scars where he made the repairs. You cannot find a more experienced orthopedic knee and shoulder surgeon. You would be making a mistake to see anyone else in Chicago.

From the first day I met Dr Bowen at my consultation to his bed side manner post surgery, I felt at ease with his confidence and trust of repairing my ACL tear. Dr. Bowen made the necessary surgery recommendations and made suggestions as if he was caring for a member of his family. I'm thankful to have found such a well skilled surgeon and appreciative for his knowledge!

Dr. Bowen has fixed a torn meniscus in both of my knees. I was off the pain meds the first day after surgery and back to full mobility after a short amount of PT.

I had a full rotator cuff tear with my bicep literally hanging on by threads. While it was a fairly obvious diagnosis once into the surgery he found more damage than the MRI had shown including a badly torn bicep which he completely fixed to perfection. Everything was thoroughly explained to me before, during, and after the surgery. He actually went the extra mile to take extra precautions to respect my tattoos. Everything healed up better than ever with no noticeable scarring and my tattoos look flawless! I actually healed up so quickly the Dr, his staff, and the physical therapist's were astonished at my recovery! Highly recommend Dr Bowen!

Dr. Bowen was outstanding from start to finish with my diagnosis, surgery & post op visit! He was even ahead of schedule on all accounts. I would highly recommend his services to anyone in the need. His staff was also very attentive as well. I am thankful I was able to have him as my surgeon for my torn meniscus!

Dr. Bowen and his staff were very attentive and considerate of my questions and went out of their way to provide me with the answers in a manner I understood. Dr. Bowen repaired both my shoulders and I have had no issues since. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Bowen is the best. My son had two shoulder labrum repairs and through both surgeries Dr. Bowen made his feel so comfortable and relaxed. Helps a lot with a teenager. He is very calm and could identify with my son and his injuries. Made us all feel welcomed and comfortable with the surgeries he would be performing. His PA's do a fantastic job! Thanks Ashley!

I was blessed to have him as my Dr. He sat me down and went through all my options. He simply asked one question that made me know he is going to help. â??Why after all these years of having the torn ACL and MCL; why do you want surgery now?â?? My reply was â??Iâ??m 28 and having my first kid. I want to bend and be active with my growing familyâ??. He stated â??enough saidâ??. His amazing staff was quick to get me in for surgery in Skokie. I can say three years out now with have two kids later. Pain free as can be and I feel like a whole new man. I canâ??t thank him or his staff enough for giving my active life back. I injured my knee playing basketball on a weekend. I called Dr. Bowen's office the following Monday and got an appointment with him that day. His bedside manner was outstanding! He was very professional and spent time with me to go over the diagnosis and plan. His staff helpd me get an MRI appointment qickly and were very personable. I got my results back quickly and had surgery scheduled with ease. I saw Dr. Bowen at ALL of my post-op appointments and he again took the time to answer my questions. I would highly recommend him to my friends and family.

The worst part of my appointment was this Dr.'s bedside manner. He seemed to perceive hostility from me which was not there, and then he went off on me. Was sarcastic, furious and laughed at me. Couldn't pinpoint my pain, and so assumed either I was either malingering, or drug seeking. All I wanted to know was what was going on in my shoulder for me to have such excruciating pain. Disappointed and frankly shocked.

Great experience! Sadly a new injury and new insurance is not accepted.

Dr. Bowen is a great doctor - this is my second shoulder surgery, and the previous doctor was awful and rushed me through recovery to get me back into my sport (I was a D1 college athlete). I was expecting the same reaction from Dr. Bowen as that was all I knew, and he surprised me. He knows what he's talking about, but is not overtly chatty so if you want to know stuff you need to ask. I did not get any off-putting attitude from him when I did ask questions, as some other reviewers claim they received. I'm going to see Bowen again for knee issues, and expect great results.

My son and I have been (unfortunately) many times for one thing or another. He had a great bedside manner, will talk directly to the patient, excellent diagnosing. Just so that you know tho,if your appointment is at 9 AM,,,and you show up at let's say 8:30 thinking you'll get in early, you are taken in at 9, whether you get there early or not. Great doctor..The only thing I wish he would do is contact me back directly instead of having his assistants to it.

Dr. Bowen is a fantastic surgeon, and when it comes down to choosing an orthopedic surgeon, that's what matter most. My knee is healing quickly and feeling much better than before surgery. The day surgery center is a bit surreal and made me feel like I was on an assembly line, but the results are fantastic and that is the most important factor.

Dr Bowen was recommended by therapist after previous doctor wouldn't acknowledge tear existed after previous surgery. Dr. Bowen diagnosed problem correctly , successfully performed surgery, and continued with me through rehab. I was totally satisfied with every aspect of this experience on both personal and professional basis. I later had knee pain that hindered my running and returned to him because of the trust factor. He diagnosed the problem and sent me to rehab, which worked out well. I have suffered another shoulder injury (other shoulder, and I'm returning to him for diagnosis and recommendations.

The results of my surgery with Doctor Bowen were perfect, but I struggled in P.T. from an unrelated issue. He wasn't satisfied until I got back to 100%. His sole focus is getting patients better.
