Dr. Mark Antony Laporta, MD

BEWARE: Today, I visited this site to have some pre-employment screenings done and had the worst experience by provider, Mark Laporta, MD. I totally understand the 1.7 health grade rating as evidenced by my experience mirroring that of other patients who were treated by him. He did not knock on the door prior to entering the examination room and I had not fully changed into the gown. Fortunately, I had my pants on; however, I was topless and had to cover up with my shirt as he entered unannounced. He laughed , apologized and closed the door and then entered again without knocking moments later and at by that time I was dressed. I thought this was an unintentional until I reflected on the remainder of my visit. The entire session he was blowing his nose, wiping his nose with his hand from under his mask, did not use sanitizer nor wash his hands paired with coughing a couple of times and constantly sniffling. Thank fully I had my N95 mask on and remained 6ft from him at all times. Halfway through the session he asks if I would like a chaperone to accompany us into the room and proceeds to tell me that another practitioner was reported to have been allegedly inappropriate with a patient to which he stated that he knew the practitioner and does not believe he violated the patient and stated that other staff know the provider as well and does not believe the patient. After telling me I passed the employment physical exam he proceeds to advise me on weight-loss medication I am taking warning me to not become addicted to which I informed him I take half the prescribed dose and am being well-managed, engaged in therapeutic support and practiced meditation. He states, “therapy is a waste of time, don’t waste your time on that” and dismisses my response in that I have no history of addiction and am nearing my BMI goal. He then looks at me up and down and states that he isn’t meaning to be inappropriate after violating me with his eyes and states that I am a very delightful woman, looks good, asks me how much weight I lost and stated he is unable to take Weightloss medication and references insinuating he has battled with addiction. I believe this was outside of his scope and very unprofessional. Prior to stepping out to ensure his form was printed, he jokingly referenced stating he hopes not to walk in on me while I’m changing again. Upon his return, he felt the need to end the visit by stating I presented with “pressured” speech and stated I am “very bubbly and talk too fast” and this can “set other’s off” and if I feel myself “wanting to go off on others, to bring myself down.” None of which she “assessed” was accurate of relevant to my admission at the clinic. I am very medically literate as an acute care case manager and Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Therapist and would advise others not to be seen by this provider as he is inappropriate in practice. Best practice would be for him to practice within his scope, follow hygiene practices and exercise professionalism. No wonder he has practiced as a Locum provider since 2011 as his reputation seems to have preceded him and not in the best way.

I remember him when he practiced in Vero Beach replacing Dr.John Song may he R.I.P. Yes, He carried a baseball bat stuck in the back of his pants. He feared that his patients were going to attack him if they couldn't get the meds that they wanted. He even feared me but I told him. please. I'm not a violent person so please put the bat down. I would love to see him again because he was very funny and kind and he cared. He just has to be careful of the patients that he accepts.These kids and adolesants are very dangerous when they need drugs. Even his staff was wonderful. Thank you, Ruth P Anderson, I remain

While I can appreciate that some people get into the medical field due to their genuine interest in the science and study of disease, those people should contain their practice to the research field and not to patient interaction. This is one of those individuals. He is too concerned about sharing how knowledgeable he feels is is on a topic to attend to the care and concern of the patient. While I am certain he has no self awareness of this, he presets himself as incredibly arrogant and uncaring. He should not be practicing medicine that requires patient interaction.

Was extremely disrespectful wouldn't listen to any concerns, questions, and wouldn't let me finish a word. Will never be coming back to this MD again

I would give this man negative stars if I could. HORRIBLE bedside manner. Doesn't listen to you at all.

Dr. LaPorta is a brilliant diagnostician, and a good advisor. Start to see him, and yo will gain a renewed respect for the medical professon.

mri shows scoliosis. his diagnostic was psychosomatic. prescribed different meds for my lung disease then my pulmonologist. he was working at a health department. i should have known better than to go there. will not see this dr again.!!

I had the chance to meet this provider...What a Jerk ..He has terrible Bedside Manners. He only talk about himself and how he has a Facebook page. I couldn't even get a word in. I went to his office on St. Lucie West in Port St. Lucie, I will Never go back there again. What a wast of HMO money... He need to be Fired!!!!!!

Always with a smile on his face, I truly feel he has genuine care and concern for each one of his patients. I've seen plenty of people lash out and complain about this doctor, which I find hard to believe, but then again to each there own opinion. And my opinion stands strong that he is not only an educated individual (not just in medicine) but very bubbly and also very compassionate in what he does!

I found my appointment went very smoothly. It was nice to hear I wasnt crazy and that all I needed was a little relaxation to solve my issues. I found my appointment enlightening and encouraging.

I would highly recommend Dr. LaPorta if you want caring, attentive and knowledgeable diagnosis. The whole experience was better than I thought it would be. His love for his work shows.

Dr. Laporta was the most helpful Dr. that I have ever visited. He spent extra time with me. Listened to me. Made certain that all my questions were answered and that I understood. His bedside manner is beyond the words caring & compassionate. Many Drs. could take lessons from Dr. Laporta. I would highly recommend Dr. Laporta.

I was a patient for awhile at this clinic prior to Dr. LaPorta arrival. I felt very foundly of the previous doctor, but found Dr. LaPorta to be exceptional. Exceptional meaning that he took a personal interest in my overall well being and did not just treat the symtom. I was quite upset when he was no longer there. I feel the community has lost an bright, sincere, approachable man, not just a guy in a white coat. I don't know which doctor some of you saw, but it wasn't the one who treated me.

One of the best medical professionals I have ever encountered!

Dr. Laporta is probably the only medical professional I have ever seen that spoke to me about my health as though he was a friend, and not an automechanic talking about my car. His compassion, sage advice, and personal attention is something that makes him truly unique in these days of being just a bar-code number to the medical community. If you don't want to feel like cattle on a ranch when you need help, and prefer the old-school approach of a family doctor, I recommend Dr. Laporta.

Unlike what most of the other comments, I have to disagree with all of them. Most of the other doctors I have seen in my lifetime, wouldn't even recognize me if they saw me walking down the street. This Doctor took his time to get to know me and listened to my feelings, my thoughts, and gave me some feedback. I have always thought that if a person has or wants to be healed, the whole person should be treated. Not just the symtoms.Altho I didn't agree with everything he said, I found him to be a kind and compassionate man who just wants whats best for his patients, and does his best to help them. I find the previous comments contrary to what I experienced... while waiting to see this Dr I was appalled by the patients that were very rude and verbal because they were not getting the narcotics they wanted... I found him compassionate and knowledgable...

All this "physician" did during my visit was talk about himself...I could barely get a word in edgewise..I was also certain that he was in AA or NA, and was a "holy roller" (one staff member confirmed he was) when he wasn't talking about how great he was and how much he knew, he was pushing the previous things on me. The people I know that are in a program do not go around advertising it and trying to force it on people...He also looked like he had been living in that camper parked on the center's parking lot.How he thinks so highly of himself is beyond me. He has no concern for his patients..he also doesn't care if any of us come back...he's on salary anyway...his words to me!! I have never witnessed such unprofessional behavior in my life..He has serious issues!

I have never experience such incompentance in my life. This man should NOT be practicing medicine, he has no people skills, he's rude and arrogant. He likes to belittle and insult his patients, talk about little man syndrome, this man used vulger language in my presents and gave me his business card and mentioned he's on facebook....WHAT DOCTOR DOES THAT???

TERRIBLE bedside manner. Treated his staff as if they were completely incompetent, and had the nerve to degrade my family to my face. Horrible experience...I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy. He is a crude, arrogant man who is way too opinionated.
