I have blood and brain cancer, could have done without the breast exam!!

Dr. Velleck has been treating my 86 year old mother who has Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma for the past 6 weeks. He is confident that the quality of her life will improve after going through treatments that he began immediately after tests and diagnosis. Dr. Velleck and his nurse Allyssa are so very caring and attentive to my mother’s needs and well being. Any questions or concerns are always addressed competently and quickly. The staff at the MCA are professional, caring and attentive as well. My mother is blessed to have such good care and great doctors and nurses to help her navigate her cancer journey.

Dr. Vellek is amazing! He and his staff are intelligent, efficient and compassionate. I feel very confident in his experience and knowledge. He is a straight shooter and tells you the truth. We admire and need this from him. We are just beginning our journey to defeat cancer and couldn't be more comfortable with Dr. Vellek leading the charge.

Dr. Velek and every staff member were kind and courteous and professional. His nurse Alyssa was very prompt at responding to questions and requests.

Doc has been great all the way through my cancer journey ,I am 7 years out and so far cancer free ,his favorite thing is to tell me I am boring and to go home now ,if there is any Doctor that I want to be boring too it is him lol

This man needs to learn how to show some compassion. He is arrogant and makes you feel stupid for coming to see him and as if you are wasting his time. If I would have read any of these reviews I would have never wasted my time or money on this doctor. I have been to doctors who seem to not really care about my condition but never someone like him. He told me at the last appointment "Hope to see you never". What kind of person, especially a doctor says something like that!

Dr. Vellek (aka Dr. V) practices excellent medicine and he is a great listener. He surrounds himself with an excellent medical team, and I am grateful to say I am a survivor - cancer free! I highly recommend him to anyone who has to hear the scary word 'cancer' and needs care.

Dr. Mark Vellek is a very thorough and extremely kind practitioner. He thoroughly and patiently explained my diagnosis and options at the onset. He provides me with his undivided attention during appointments and answers all of my questions, many of which have been asked outside of my regularly scheduled appointments. He has gone above and beyond to contact me personally with test and lab results and has been an encourager to my overall health while battling this disease. I have referred others to Dr. Vellek after my quality experiences; one of whom changed oncologists to be under Dr. Vellek's care. Anyone I have met under his care is extremely satisfied with Dr. Vellek as their oncologist and like me, cannot imagine being under anyone else's care!

Dr. Velleck started out as my mother's doctor over 10 years ago he was the perfect fit for her "no time to wait" attitude when it came to doctor visits. He was then my doctor after my mother tested positive for the BRCA 1 Gene and assisted in the preventive care that I needed. He has always been attentive to my needs and those of my family. Then in 2012 we were lucky enough that he was on call when my husband was admitted to the hospital with a brain tumor. Dr. Velleck is always up to date on the newest treatments out there. He is the best choice for our family as he is still my doctor.

Dr. Vellek is always in a hurry, never really listens to what your complaints are, dismisses symptoms that other oncologists pay attention to and makes you feel foolish for bringing your symptoms to his attention.

Very condescending individual who would best serve the public by flipping burgers at McDonald's.

I have seen this man for several years and am tired of him not listening to me. He is a hateful man who knows more about what you've been experiencing and is most often wrong. He has short man attitude and treats patients with barely concealed contempt! I will not be exposing myself to his hateful brand of medicine again!

He was the on-call oncologist when my husband was hospitalized. We were not at all pleased with him. He wrote up discharge orders one day and it was apparent that he had never looked at his chart or he would have known that he had not been out of bed or had a bowel movement in a week. To begin with he was not the primary doctor and did not have the authority to discharge him. This was the third day he had seen my husband and still did not know his situation.

Dr. Vellek not only is my cancer Doctor but I think of him as a very personal friend. I am able to write this review because of his diagnosis and treatments in 2006. I give a 4 star rateing for every thing about Missouri Cancer Assoc.

To be fair, I am not his patient. Doctor Vellek returned a call to a patient when his service put through a message about an appointment cancellation while Vellek was oncall. He said, "I do NOT schedule appointments...you are speaking to a MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST!" Seemed very arrogant...not caring! Not something an elderly cancer patient should have to contend with on top of recent laryngectomy and radiation!! He should have covered that with his service and not called his partner's cancer patient!!!
