He then went on to Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of California, San Francisco (1991-1995).Board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the Diplomate American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 1998 and Diplomate American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in Sports Medicine, Dr. Klassen has been in private practice since 1995. He is a Diplomate National Board of Medical Examiners. He is affiliated with Monterey Peninsula Surgery Center, Central Coast Surgery
Center and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.Professional OrganizationsActive in various professional organizations, Dr. Klassen is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as being a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America;  Member of the Board of Directors (2006 to present) with the California Orthopaedic Association and served on the Board of Councilors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery; and Member of the San Francisco Inman Abbott Society.
