Dr. Merkley is a very good doctor. He listens to your concerns and addresses each of them so you can understand. He's in no hurry to operate. He will if that's what you want. I'm glad to have him as my shoulder doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Merkley's for several years, and I've always been completely satisfied with all treatment given by him and his staff. I would highly recommend him for any treatment concerning the knees. I also recommend the Pekin location, it was within close proximity, and friendly atmosphere.

Dr Merkley is an excellent physician and surgeon. He and his staff have been great to answer any questions and have given me outstanding treatment. My should has never felt better!

I would definitely give Dr.Merkly a five star rating plus a thank you, for explaining my health care needs at my level, and taking the time to give me options for my care. He is keeper, and I hope he will be my physician for any further orthopedic care.

Dr Merkley and his staff are very professional and thorough. He repaired and reattached my torn bicep tendon as well repairing my rotator cuff all done very successfully. I would highly recommend him for performing any such surgery.

Dr.Merkley is an amazing and talented Dr. His bed side manner is what I really loved. Feel I can talk freely with him and felt so at ease. He has a remarkable staff at the surgery center and Katy his nurse is awesome. Very pleased.

Dr. Merkley is very soft spoken individual, but I think it definitely adds a calming factor for the patient. He was very patient and kind. Great bedside manner. I would for sure recommend him and if necessary utilize his time and knowledge again.

Excellent Surgeon!!!!!

Dr. Merkley has performed 4 shoulder surgeries on different members of my family & all have been successful. Not only does he take the time to listen to his patients, but he is also an excellent doctor & surgeon. He is very knowledgeable. He will explain all the treatment options available, but is honest enough to tell you which path is best based on the severity of your case. He truly cares about his patients.

I learned a lot from dr.merkley when i broke my collar bone and needed surgery it ended up being worse then he thought and i had 8 screws and a plate put in so far my experience has been great dr. Merkley explained everything and answered all my questions i would highly recommend him !

Dr. Merkley, himself is fine, however his staff is horrible. They don't call you back, they're very rude, and refuse to talk you about insurance issues. I will never go back!

This doctor is a know it all. He mess my knee up and he knows more than the MRI people about what is wrong. He guesses instead of using xrays and MRI to determine what is wrong.

Great guy!He has kids of his own that have had surgery soo he knows how hard recovery is.

This visit occurred prior to Midwest Orthopaedic's move from the OSF Center for Health on Route 91 to the current building at 6000 N. Allen Rd. I saw Dr. Merkley, looking for a second opinion after one of the orthopedic surgeons in my home town (not Peoria) looked at my arm/shoulder for 15 seconds and STRONGLY urged surgery like it was an emergent situation.Dr. Merkley diagnosed my shoulder problem the same as the first surgeon. Unlike the first surgeon, Dr. Merkley did not recommend surgery because I don't play sports anymore, nor do I do any other activities that would cause shoulder problems.He was so incredibly thorough and spent an extraordinary amount of time with myself and my parents, explaining everything and answering every possible question. Due to my experience with Dr. Merkley and his specific specialization, I strongly recommend him to anyone with shoulder issues. He's a rare breed of surgeons who doesn't jump to a surgical solution unless absolutely necessary. My advice, see a surgeon who specializes in the type of injury that you have (wrist issues -> hand & microvascular surgeon, etc.) since "general" orthopedic surgeons don't possess an adequate level of expertise to accurately diagnose and treat every single injury that falls within the realm of orthopedics.
