this doctor lied to me regarding kidney transplantation so she could collect as many dollars she could for herself and Henry Ford Hospital. At the beginning of the interview I told her I did not want to begin incurring costs for the process if HFHS has a problem with me not have a "loved one" for a few weeks after surgery for home health support. She agreed with me that it was okay to hire home health services. Then later after incurring charges for additional services ordered by her, i.e., EKG, transplant surgeon, dietitian, psychiatry, her team nurse called me to say I would not be offered the transplant (not even get on the list) because I did not have the support services I told the doctor I did not have originally. All Dr. Samaniego-Picota had to do was be honest with me up front. I could have then tried the program at Michigan State. Now I don't think I can trust the kidney transplant process and put myself through the pain of rejection for no good reason. Rich, white people hire support service all the time. It seems more important to protect their statistics than letting a live moderate income, black human die.

Dr. Samaniego oversaw my kidney transplant three-plus years ago. I trust her judgment explicitly. We drive from Texas twice a year for follow-up visits. My back-up Texas nephrologist collaborates with her seamlessly. He, too, is a big fan. I’ve recommended her to friends and family. She’s simply Michigan’s best.
