My adult daughter (whom I care for at home by myself) acquired a severe, diffuse, axonal TBI with severe short term memory loss, along with other secondary medical injuries related and acquired in a fatal car wreck which left her wheelchair bound and the need to be transferred via a hoyer and a sling. She was released from a facility (in another state) while I was getting us moved to FL. Unfortunately, she was discharged without the proper amount of medications to last until her 1st PCP appt. in FL. I had no choice but to take her to the ER at Holmes. Thank goodness Dr Jockovich was there and treated her. I took my daughters medication list along with the amount of meds that were given to me upon her discharge (which I had to request, due to the inadequate amount of prescribed meds they had ordered for her to take and without my permission) to administer to my daughter. The quantities of the prescribed meds she was now taking (which she didn’t need) varied and I definitely didn't have enough to administer to her until her scheduled PCP appt. we are new moving to Florida and the consequences of not having the adequate amount of meds (which some meds can’t be abruptly stopped), as literally could have caused my child to have a heart attack, or worse even cause her death. He also treated the stage II sacral wound which was acquired and went untreated while she was residing in the aforementioned skilled nursing facility while waiting on me to get us moved. Dr. Jockovich was very thorough when evaluating my daughters condition/situation. He ordered a complete medical workup, and after receiving the results, prescribed the exact meds which my daughter now needed in order to last until her PCP appt. as well as, treating the stage II sacral wound that was rapidly trying to become a stage IIII. Not only did he prescribe the meds my daughter now had to have, his caring and concerning attitude, along with his bedside manner, and professional demeanor were second to none! I wish all Physician’s could/would follow his regime, expertise, and most importantly had his listening skills! He took the time with my child and myself to ensure all of her medical needs were met. I’m going to use the same verbiage in one of the other reviews on Dr. Jockovich, “If he had his own practice, I wouldn’t let my child see anyone else, with the exception of a trained neurologist who has experience with acquired, severe, diffuse, axonal TBI’s I will go as far to say, I wouldn’t even begin to question any Physician(s) he recommend to care, treat, and help my daughter rehabilitate, and help her brain to reroute! In short, would trust Dr. Jockovich judgement and with my daughters life! This particular statement coming from me, is the highest review I have and will probably ever give to another physician. I’m extremely proactive, and believe in my daughter, that given the opportunity she can and will rehabilitate. My child will never be 100% again, however; with the appropriate and qualified physicians, therapist, and other specialists she will become 70-80%, and have the quality of life befitting a human being! I’m so grateful and appreciative my child was fortunate enough to have seen by Dr. Jockovich!! I could write a book with praises just from the short time frame we experienced Dr. Jockovich’s medical care and treatment, as it was a blessing which was needed more than anyone will ever understand or comprehend.
He’s exactly the type of physician I want on my daughters team, and would hope he would be the individual in charge and leading that team. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to leave a review for Dr. Jockovich! Thanks for everything and if my daughter could express her thoughts at this time, she would write and probably enhance/elaborate this review given her personality prior to the car wreck she unfortunately was involved in as a front seat passenger wearing her seatbelt. Thanks again! Teresa Ghetti
