Dr. Nikki Rai Waddell, MD

When we first started with her, things were good but within the last year things have gotten bad. We use express scripts for prescriptions and when they fax the request to the Dr, she often takes a long time to send it back. or sometimes she wants the patient to come in and see her, however her office doesnt let us know that and so we are waiting for a prescription to arrive in the mail that isnt coming. When I have asked why they dont call us, I have been told she doesnt have time to call everyone. We also get billed for medicare-type maintenance calls however they dont actually reach the patient. The problem is that she is trying to do everything herself, and needs to let her staff do some of the things like approve prescriptions.

Unbending and arrogant.

She is a poor listener and arrogant.

I enjoy the personalities in the office, I appreciate being greeted and treated with respect. Dr. Waddell is thorough and unrelentless when it comes to making my health my priority, She has been an advocate as I worked with Cigna for payment. I am very pleased with her kindness, professionalism and I try not to waste her time with idol chitchat. I value all the referrals and follow-up greatly.

Dr. Nikki Waddell is a caring and extremely knowledgeable doctor. She practices proactive medicine which prevents or delays the onset of chronic diseases. Dr. Waddell’s approach has been very effective in managing my healthcare. We need more doctors like Dr. Nikki Waddell.

As a patient and a Registered Nurse, I have experienced terse encounters with other Providers before but Dr. Waddellâ??s presentation was a bare display of rude, insensitive, and demeaning behavior. Her inability to remain objective led to the exposure of her personal biases and ultimately a deliberate assault on my right to courteous and respectful care. Negative facial expressions, tone of voice in delivery of information, and various disrespectful quips accompanied almost every assessment during my physical exam. After the exam when I voiced my concern to Dr. Waddell, she attempted to pervert my perceptionâ??calling it a booking issue caused by her staff leading to ill-conceived expectations on my part. The only expectation I had prior to that visit was to meet and establish care with the Doctor who would become my Primary Care Provider. In retrospect, I suppose that was an ill-conceived expectation.

Because Dr. Waddell's staff is so unprofessional, it made me doubt her ability to have sound judgement overall. I've seen her reprimand staff in front of patients, and her staff has made so many mistakes I can't even count. They are not proactive and don't take your urgent requests seriously. They don't return calls and they forget to do things you ask of them. Dr. Waddell herself is personable enough, but if you need to get information from her regarding blood or lab work, you have to pay $25 to get it over the phone. And when she does call, it might be two hours later than the scheduled time with no apology of explanation for her tardiness.

I have followed Dr. Waddell from Woodbridge to Alexandria because I really like her as a primary care provider. I feel that she is attentive to my needs and takes time to explain things. I scheduled two appointments in the past two weeks for an office visit and for a sonogram and both times my waiting time was minimal (about 15 minutes). I was able to leave a urine sample and a staff member took blood samples. The staff was attentive and I was satisfied that my medical needs had been met. I received my lab results over the phone within a couple of days. I have also scheduled my physical for March. From past experience, she's very thorough during physicals, asking questions about relevant issues some doctors don't seem concerned about. I'm so glad that Dr. Waddell's practice is successful. I also like that she engages in events that give back to the community. I recently attended a volunteer event with my children that she co-sponsored and we're looking forward to more. I highly recommend Dr. Waddell as a primary care provider.

She is very detailed-oriented and is willing to answer any and all of your questions.

I had strep throat a few years back on a Sunday so knowing my PCP was closed I went to an urgent care. While there I found out that because it was also considered a cardiac center and not just an urgent care, my insurance would not cover my visit unless I had a referral from my PCP. The next day, I called and asked if Dr. Waddell could write a referral for me. I was later advised from her staff that she would not because I should have called her first for her to advise me to go to the ER or urgent care. While speaking with the office manager I explained to her that I figured the obvious so didnt bother calling on a Sunday because I knew she would tell me to go there anyway. I also didnt realize it that there would be an insurance issue. I asked to speak to Dr. Waddell myself to explain this to her. The office manager was extremely rude and told me that Dr. Waddell does not want to speak to me and that this is pretty much how its going to be. Dr. Waddell didnt have the audacity to tell me this herself or to even speak to me! I ended up having to pay for my urgent care visit out of pocket all because I didnt call Dr. Waddell on a Sunday to be told the obvious that they are closed and to go to an urgent care!!!! Horrible horrible Dr. !!!!!!

I switched my primary care physician to Dr. Waddell after having an internist who seemed to always be in a hurry, would meet with me for a few minutes, hand me referral forms, and then leave the room. I honestly don't think she even knew my name. Dr. Waddell is wonderful. If she is in a hurry, she doesn't give that impression, and always gives great service with a warm bedside manner. Her medical treatment and follow up have been excellent. She recently scheduled me for a mammogram that I delayed in scheduling because of a vacation. I received a call from her office after a couple of weeks because they hadn't received any mammogram results and were checking up; I've never had that happen. Office staff is very helpful, and I've always been able to get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time. Dr. Waddell seems to genuinely care about her patients, and provides highly competent medical care along with that. I'm completely pleased, and grateful I happened upon her through my insurance plan providers.

I have been to many doctors over the years and never found one who really cared about me or my health the way Dr. Waddell does. I stopped going to doctors because I could not find a good one, and it really took a toll on my health. All I could depend upon were their inflated doctor bills, for an unsatisfied visit, that is until I found Dr. Waddell. Though she is young, Dr. Waddell reminds me of the good old days, when doctors genuinely cared. I highly recommend her.

I have to admit that I was surprised by what others had written. I showed up an hour early to drop off some paperwork and the receptionist told me he could get me in then. I waited 5 minutes and was called back. The nurse and Dr. Waddell were pleasant and I left feeling like I had finally found a PCP.

Although Dr. Waddell was fine, her office staff are the most incompetent I have ever encountered. Not only did the receptionist forget about me (I was the only person in the office and waited while he was on the phone, chatting with the maintenance staff, etc) for over 30 minutes, but once we began my in-processing, he was completely incapable. He could not figure out my insurance information, my HSA, or the most basic tasks. He was reprimanded for disorganization by the doctor while I was waiting, and gave me incorrect information concerning the insurance payment twice. I ended up overpaying the office and am still waiting on reimbursement, 2 months later. Dr. Waddell should do herself a service and "clean house" when it comes to her office staff.

I am pregnant with Fibromyalgia. I have been having problems sleeping. My OBGN asked that Dr. Waddelle write me a script for Ambien (reason being a pcp needs to oversee the med). I was told NO even though it was requested and approved by my OB and that it is known that lack of sleep makes FMS symptoms worse. This doctor cares more about her liability insurance than she does about the patients health and well being. I will be changing doctors!

Dr Nikki Waddell is not only a sweet and caring physician but she listens to your concerns and acts accordingly. I have found that Dr Nikki Waddell follow up with me regarding my condition.

I took my 66 year old mother to this doctor. My mother was violently ill with food poisoning, was dehydrated and shaking. She was made to wait nearly an hour for her appointment and was given a trash can to throw up in while waiting in the emergency room. I believe that because my mother is a medicare patient, she was given less than acceptable care. Many of Dr. Waddell's staff members were rude and unhelpful, both over the phone and in person. I will be helping my mother to find a different doctor, one that can be trusted to give equitable care to all patients.
