i'm trying to set up a new-patient appt. BUT it has been very difficult reaching a real person vs. their phone's automated message to 'leave a message'. what the heck?

Best Headache doctor I have met, hands down!

I began seeing Dr. Riggins in Headache Center 16 months ago. Before that I spent almost 4 1/2 years with a world renowned headache doctor at Neurology practice at Parnassus. The first doctor diagnosed me with migraines, and prescribed me hundreds of triptan pills as well as fioricet to take on onset of pain. I also had a series of 4 root canals and a tooth surgery in first 18 months after onset of the headaches. He was dismissive as to any suggestions I may have. He simply said "you have migraines. Just come back every month for a new prohphyllactic. Eventually, one will work. Keep taking the pain pills when you get a headache." I changed doctors because I went through most of th eprophyllactics which were FDA approved. Dr. Riggins advised me that the pain medications (triptans and firocet) cause rebound headaches, and the fiorcet prevents the prophyllactic meds from working. I had to wean off the pain meds. After weaning off the pain meds, Dr. Riggins researched my symptoms, including the tooth pain issues, and came up with hemicrania continua, a form of trigeminal autotomic cephalitis. The medication for this is indomethacin, which is an NSAID. After sending me to g.i. practice for clearance to take the medication, which may cause stomach bleeding, the indomethacin worked immediately and almost completely. Dr. Riggins took the time to figure out what a world renowned headache doctor would not take the time to figure out. She did not dismiss me when I told her there may be a connection between the dental issues and the headaches. Instead, she researched it and hit the nail on the head. I have my life back. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Riggins.
