Dr. Ofer Jacobowitz, MD

I have never met a more spiteful, dismissive doctor in my life. He was incredibly fatphobic, denying that sleep apnea could cause the metabolism to stop functioning and cause weight gain, something I've heard from 3 other doctors. He suggested gastric bypass surgery with a wave of his hand and an attitude of "I don't know what else to tell you." While surgeries like that may work for some people, it should never be suggested in such a nonchalant way by someone who has no idea what it involves. I called the office 3 times to ask for a follow up on a sleep study and he NEVER called back. Stay away from this man.

Overbooked and has you wait an inordinate amount of time.

1) I really don't want to write this but really feel the need to: Dr. Jacobowitz was unavailable during the supposed 30 day adjustment period required for insurance purposes; 2) the doctor continued to be unavailable for the next 30 days during which the insurance clock was running; 3) the doctor rashly prescribed ill fitting adjustments for the CPAP and then was impatient with further need for adjustments; 4) was unable to find a correct size pillow for the CPAP and prescribed a more radical surgical treatment when in fact there exists a pillow of a different brand of CPAP that is the correct size and would solve the entire problem. On top of all this, he treated me as if I am incapacitated and deaf, when in fact I am neither of these. I am more than insulted. I do not think that the condition of sleep apnea requires that I tolerate this from anyone in medicine, let alone anyone at all. Had he checked or already done the requisite research in his field he would know that there exists such a CPAP machine and easily provided it in a timely way, so that my insurance would not have declined coverage of it for non-compliance due to lack of proper adjustment past the allowed period. Sorry, doc - a good doctor needing a tuneup.

Turbinate surgeries from ent doctors can cause Empty Nose Syndrome, which damages the nerves in your nose and makes you feel like you're suffocating. Think again before having the surgery.

He is one in a million that thinks so much for his patients. He is not only into treating the patient but he goes into research and study to find out what can help anyone to have a better treatment. He knows his specialty as he is at the same time a scientist trying to find ways to help the patients get the best medical treatment. Way to go, Dr. Jacobowitz!

Very great dr. Solid education and definitely an expert in sleep medicine. I listened to his advice regarding a septoplasty for sleep apnea and I believe he helped me make the right decision.

I saw Dr. Jacobowitz for a permanently enlarged tonsil, and he was wonderful. He was a bit late, but apologized a number of times, which was no problem at all. He took the time to examine me, explain things and never pressured me into surgery like other doctors have. He made me feel very comfortable and I'm confident when I do have my tonsillectomy that he will take perfect care of me! The office staff was also very friendly and courteous. The nurse came in to let me know he was running a bit behind which I thought was very nice.

Dr. J and staff are always professional and mindful of my needs. Dr. J always has the time to sit and listen to my questions or concerns. His expertise has really helped with my medical condition. I feel I am getting NYC quality healthcare right in my own backyard. Would definitely recommend Dr. J and ENT and Allergy Associates.

Dr jacobowitz is an excellent doctor that I would recommend to anyone. He takes the time with each patent in such a friendly way. Sometimes there is a long office wait, but to see the best it is totally worth it. He performed surgery on me and I have to say he is my fav dr.

dr Jacobowitz is a wonderful dr in every possible way. I highly recommend him. His ability to diagnose is top rate. He spent a lot of time asking questions and examining as well as answering all of my questions. The staff was wonderful as well. I had to have surgery and he made what was potentially a very scary experience into one that was smooth and successful. He explained everything very patiently to me beforehand and his surgical skills were top notch. Afterwards any other dr that I show the nearly invisible scar to has been very impressed with what a great job dr Jacobowitz did. I HIGHLY recommend dr Jacobowitz. He is skilled, kind, and truly cares about his patients.

I have found Dr Jacobowitz to be prompt (or apologetic when a bit late) for all of my visits. He spends a great deal of time explaining procedures and has a good bedside manner.
