Dr. Omar Elhaj, MD

He might be the worst doctor I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. Rude, condescending, and arrogant. Avoid this guy like the plague.

This "doctor" is rude and egotistical, he will tell you he encourages questions- but will give you vague answers and re-direct the conversation before rushing you out... (because he was running late.) I'd recommend a listening workshop, cultural, and gender sensitivity training. Additionally if you are a peer of his expect him to dismiss your expertise and credibility to his patients. He is a disgrace to "professionals" in his field, and would not recommend that anyone to be associated with him or waste their time hoping to be heard as a patient.

This guy does the exact opposite of supporting or healing your mental/emotional health. In fact, I believe his agenda/goal is to make your situation even WORSE! This "doctor" does not listen to YOU or your mental health concerns. He reads over notes provided by your primary care phydicians & an assessment provided by the person who takes your vitals when you arrive. He seems to want to play frankenstien with your meds. He shows no empathy pertaining to your concerns regarding potential side effects of new meds. Documents exagerrations and ridiculous (unhelpful/unnecessary) statements in your chart. And on top of it all, he doesn't even see you in person! The visit is done in an office room via skype! I traveled 20 miles to the next town over & back for a "telepsych" visit. But hey, he's still collecting a paycheck so who cares about patients' mental health, right? ???????????? Do yourself a favor and stay away from this guy. Save yourself the money, time, gas, AND mental health!

Horrible psychiatrist! He misdiagnosed me and out me on heavy hitting medications I did not need. It took 2 years for my body to get back to where I started. I was encouraged by my physician to file a complaint with the Ohio medical board. He doesn't listen and is super arrogant. Please, stay away from this man!

Terrible psychiatrist. He misdiagnosed me and turned me into a zombie. I lost a year of my life because of him. PLEASE steer clear of him!

He will destroy you.

He would never explain why he was making medication decisions and what I should expect. One time we dialed back a dosage and I started freaking out and going insane. I thought I was done for and that was what life would be like. Fortunately I did some of my own research and found it was just intense withdrawl symptoms some people get and would pass soon! There was no "Hey, so you're going down on this med and some people experience withdrawal like xxxx. So if you do, don't worry, it will pass and you'll make it through it."

This doctor totally threw me into a ptsd episode during my one and only appointment with him. He questioned another doctors medication that was prescribed for me by telling me he was a mandated reporter ans picked up His phone threatening to call the police on me and my doctor. I ran out of the office in a confused and dangerous state of mind. I drove away as fast as I could as I believed the olive were going to come look for me. I lucky I didn't get into an accident while fleeing his abuse. Stay far far away.

He was the worst doctor I have ever been to!!! I was going through a rough time in my life emotionally. He didn't want to talk about that AT ALL! Even when I told him I had been diagnosed with PTSD, he said "who told you that!" Mind you, I have been through counseling and family therapy, but he made me feel like I was making it up and asked where the proof was. At my first visit he took me off all of medication that I had been on for a few years (only 2 prescriptions) and gave me 3 different prescriptions to take. He never suggested that I seek counseling! After 2 weeks I followed up with him and he switched my medication AGAIN! I have never in my life felt so humiliated and used like a lab rat for medications! The medication had me feeling like I was going crazy.....it was horrible! Before seeing him, I started out on 2 medications & going to therapy. By hitting another low I ending up in this man's hands that made it 100 times worse!!???!!! I Googled the medications and the one is commonly used drug to slip into people's drinks. I refused to EVER see that man or that practice ever again. It was the worst experience I have ever had with any health professional. Please do your research before going to any doctor, psychiatrist or therapist. Just because they have the title does NOT mean they are good at their job!

From the get go this doctor was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was there with my daughter who he didn't even address. He said he was doing me a favor by seeing her because he didn't take her insurance which was Medicare and Medicaid, even though she had been seeing another doctor in that practice with the same insurance for many, many years and it was never an issue. We waited a ridiculous amount of time in the waiting room. He was freaked out because he said my daughter had high blood pressure which was never an issue and I'm thinking it was high because he made her so nervous. The good news is that I took her to another doctor who assured me that her blood pressure was normal and even low, but she is a doll and we've been going there ever since so I guess I should thank him for being so horrible and unprofessional. By the way he should update this picture because he looks nothing like this image of him. He was very mean and uncaring for a psychiatrist, or for any human as a matter of fact. I would not make an appointment with this man.

I had Dr. Elhaj as a doctor for a little under two and a half years. My first appointment I waited over an hour and even began questioning if I even had it that day. I was able to overcome that with his polite demeanor when I FINALLY saw him. I would say I've seen him at least 8-10 times. He prescribed me medication, and never said much about a visible side effect of the medication I was taking. I gained 40lbs. in that small window of time and he said nothing. I also was going through some changes when I last saw him, and opposed to attributing that to career ambitions or actually making a good decision of what was no longer a healthy relationship he instead blamed my well thought out decisions as part of my diagnosis. If I agreed with him, he surely would have increased my dose of medicine. I haven't seen him in months and actually didn't show up to my last two appointments. If my mental health was of any concern to him or PsychBC, at the very least I would expect a phone call for rescheduling (that's the bare minimum). It's been months and the only thing I received from that office is a bill for the missed appointments. My best advice for anyone with a mental health issue is to be your own advocate and find a doctor and practice that truly cares about your well being and health. Unfortunately Dr. Elhaj and PsychBC was not the answer for me.

BEWARE! Dr. Elhaj is the most unprofessional and rude Doctor that I have ever had encountered. I have never written a health review but this should be known for all who are considering going to him. I went to him for almost a year, every time that I would follow up with Dr. Elhaj he would just sit at his desk and take notes (rare occurrence if he looked over) He would not come anywhere near me during the appointment (sitting at his desk). He prescribed me on anxiety medicine and every follow up appointment, he would up it and have me come back in a few weeks. Each appointment lasted about 20 minutes and took almost 40-60 in the waiting room before I even saw him. Please consider seeing another doctor, this is not someone you want to see. Dr Elhaj is one of the best doctors I have ever worked with. He cares immensely and respects his patients immensely. His direct and honest approach has allowed me to develop the utmost trust in his care.

Dr. Elhaj is very cold and not easy to talk to.Scheduling any appointments within a reasonable time was always difficult. If I needed to talk with him, the organization "Psychological and Behavioral Consultants" wouldn't allow patient-to-doctor communication (which is absurd) and would give me to a hotline named "Patient Services". While following a dispute on a bill for over $200, the offices refused to ask my insurance for payment. I've never had to write a review for such poor health service. This was an awful choice for a doctor, and even more of a pain for my wallet. Dr. Elhaj has no people-skills, and requires extensive testing to 'prove' you have the mental illness that you've been diagnosed for (despite what previous doctors have diagnosed, and the number of years you've been medicated). Stay clear, find another private practice or non-profit clinic that actually cares about the patients first.

If bedside manner is a quality you are looking for in a psychiatrist...then you ABSOLUTELY need to look elsewhere. Elhaj is very curt with how he dispenses information, or advice for that matter.When you state a side effect with a drug he often times 'corrects' you and tells you how you are really feeling. He does not tolerate being questioned or addressing a problem. Instead of solving problems, he often says, "I'm sorry you felt that way." He does very little consultation with therapists. He is elitist, and makes it very clear. He is not a person who should be interacting with the public. Instead, he should be doing research because, for a psychiatrist, his social skills are horrid. I've gotten better treatment from someone at a fast food place!

Dr. Elhaj treated me as a number instead of a patient. He made judgements and assumptions of me and nothing I did could convince him otherwise. I tried many times to express how he made me feel and tell him that some of the comments he made to me were unacceptable and he became argumentative. I would not recommend him to help improve your mental well being. It is a shame that there are psychiatrists like him who are still gainfully employed. I pray that he receives training in interpersonal relationships & the importance of bedside manner.
