Dr. Orrin Isaac Franko, MD

The first time I met with Dr. Franko he made me feel so comfortable. I went into his office in so much pain in my left wrist. After Dr. Franko explained my options, I had a cortisone shot in my wrist and I had immediate relief. I was pain free for over a year and just recently went back to Dr. Franko for another cortisone shot and again, I am pain free in my left wrist. I highly recommend Dr. Franko.

Dr. Franko thoroughly explained my problem and described the various treatment options. I highly recommend him to anyone needing the skills of an orthopedic surgeon.

The pain in my wrist was not getting any better. The ER visit did not help. The Dr. made little effort to treat beyond x-ray (not broken) and sold me a $200 brace. Dr, Frank got to the root of the problem and offered an elegant solution: The pain is gone. Dr. Franko treated the problem appropriately and made sure I understood the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. He's a rare breed of professional mixed with personal. In short: a true physician.

Dr. Franko conducted a surgery on my left hand. I would say, the most memorizable part of the surgery is the feeling of assurance he brought to me, starting from diagnosis to operation. His thorough thinking process, acute sense of the problem, steady hand, extensive knowledge, and sense of humor, made the surgery a very confident journey. I trust him 100%.

I had an unfortunate accident at work. I met Dr. Orrin in the ER. He helped me to feel comfortable while explaining the injury and options. I felt that he was interested in me and how I felt not only physically but mentally. He took a little time to talk and show a human side. He seemed well organized, knew what he wanted to do. He worked well with the ER staff.

My initial assessment when seen at the UCSD Orthopedics Department for my rapidly deteriorating hips was with Chief Resident, Dr. Orrin Franko. I had been through nine months of excruciating pain and frustration at being misdiagnosed by numerous earlier doctors. Dr. Franko made me feel immediately at ease. He gave a thorough, compassionate explanation of why I was in so much pain. His kindness, professionalism, and accuracy of diagnosis set the tone for the rest of my exceptional experience of care at UCSD. The entire staff in the Orthopedics department was task-oriented, efficient, professional and courteous--such a huge difference than my earlier experiences elsewhere at different hospitals and orthopedic centers. Dr. Franko is part of the amazing team at UCSD, and he is a gifted physician, mannerism , and made me feel listened to, cared for and confident about the treatment I was about to receive. The importance of this cannot be underestimated when facing the tough decision to have a hip replaced at 51 years of age. Dr. Franko followed up with me during my hospital stay/post-surgery...and I continued to be impressed.

All I can say is "Wow." I am so thankful that Dr. Franko was part of the team taking care of me when I was injured in a severe accident. His bedside manner and explanation of my injuries were amazing. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Franko is a great doctor. Before my surgery, my nurses wanted to start IV fluids. I'm scared of needles, and Dr. Franko was able to convince them that I didn't need fluids.

My experience with Dr. Franko has been extraordinary. I recommend him to all my friends.
