I had a consultation with Dr. Gallagher today for an otoplasty. Walking in, the office was beautifully maintained and the front staff was professional and courteous. However, once I was taken into the room by the PA, my visit went downhill quickly. While taking my history, she felt the need to comment on each medical issue I provided and talk about how my other doctors were just putting “bandaids on” and I should address my “horrible diet” which she assumed was the cause of my issues- for reference, I am very physically fit and have an overall healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, when Dr. Gallagher came in, she, although very knowledgeable about her specialty, made fun of my professions (law enforcement and military), the way I look (calling me skinny and bony and saying I shouldn’t lift weights). She then proceeded to pull my ear roughly and simulate a punch to my head (making contact) to describe what could happen post surgery at work. Finally, as I was leaving and had a question about my procedure being done under local anesthesia due to cost concerns, the PA screamed from across the room at the suggestion and seemed mortified that I would even mention it, despite me directing my question to the office manager, not her. I left feeling humiliated, offended, and frustrated. I will be getting my surgery elsewhere. Terrible experience. I’m sure Dr. Gallagher is great at what she does, but her and her PA need to learn how to respectfully interact with potential patients.

I had several surgeries by Dr. Gallagher , she and the surgery was excellent. She has great bedside manner and makes you feel most comfortable. I had no pain after surgery.

She is the director of the Lij cleft team. I found out about my baby having a cleft at 5 months old. Linda one of the team coordinators have been so helpful in this whole process. The team seems like it was skillfully hand picked. We use te Lij dental clinic as well. Dr Gallagher shares the same views and concerns for my babies health as I do. She is knowledgable and makes sure I'm just as knowledgeable in the care for my baby. I have seen before and after pics of other babies and see how successful. Our first surgery is next week and I'm fully confident in the drs I have chosen. Can't wait to see my babies new face. Thanks dr Gallagher for te security and reassurance I need as parent. I also agree with the other posting that it is difficult to get in touch with schedulers. However her staff in west islip are very helpful.

We visited Dr. Gallaghar related to the cleft lip issue for our baby. She courteously checked our baby, talked to us explaining the entire problem and how she will be doing the surgery. She gave all the schedule and details of the materials she will be using. The first surgery happened and we were astonished by the results. We simply cannot believe that the defect is so skillfully corrected. Even the follow ups were properly managed and all our concerns were patiently addressed. The only dark side of it is to co-ordinate for the surgery date. Her assistant Gina seems very poor at communication so you should have patience to call her for weeks and not to get frustrated as the call will always goes to the Voicemail, and she will never call you back. Probably she has the advantage that as Dr. Gallaghar is good, the patients will not go away. I dont think Dr. Gallaghar knows about this mess. In all we were very happy that we went to Dr Gallaghar. She is amazing
