Dr. Patrick Han, MD

Dr. Han performed ACDF C3-6. CT at 6 weeks said follow-up imaging suggested for loose screw. He said it was not necessary and discharged me from care 7 months postop not following up saying too much imaging already (this was 7 months postop). Second opinion at Mayo Clinic showed loose screw between vertebrae, slipped plate, non-fusion at level C5-6 and possible plate too long overlapping and possibly causing further damage above and below. Revision surgery from the new facility much more extensive and more time off work causing me stress and hardship. His office was great before surgery, but felt after surgery would not listen to my concerns and would not follow-up on loose screw when i asked about it. Just had no time for me after surgery. Office unfriendly after surgery. Also, Halifax hospital discharged me and either did not tell me or did not even notice my left side of my mouth didn't move. Hospital he operates in his HORRIBLE!

Dr. Han was my brain surgeon when I developed a golf size tumor in the vision part of my brain. He completed the surgery and entire healing process with me. I never had an ounce of pain! I highly recommend him to anyone needing a brain surgeon.

Dr Patrick Han is the best of the best. A superb Neurosurgeon, he blends in an easy going manner and you know immediately that he is your friend as well. He explained the procedure down to my level. He performed a very serious procedure on me a couple of years ago and more recently my wife of 51 years required a much more critical surgery. Who performed it? Dr Patrick Han of course. A couple years ago Dr Han replaced 4 discs in my neck and gave me a better life I had a bulging disc that made my whole right side shut down. Then he removed a tumor on my pituitary gland and he wasn’t through yet he had to operate on my neck and remove a bone spur that was affecting my left side and while he had me under he performed a corporal tunnel on my left hand. Dr. Han gave me a better life with his amazing skills, and was courteous and very kind to my family and always answered our questions and made sure we understood what was going on. He’s a one of a kind extra ordinary surgeon that cares about the well being of his patients I trust him 100% if I ever need anything else done I would not want anyone else but Dr. Han!!

Dr han is one of the best out there i was left with a paralyzed vocial cord and a huge mess up from the last quack that did my sirgery. Dr han took the time with me and my adult kids who were there during my surgery - he was very friendly down to earth does NOT have a God complex. Dr Han has given me my next thirty years. I was born with a brain malformation that in most people is benign. For those of us it’s not, it grows. Small seizures that get worse. I’ve been waiting for medical science to catch up, or for a surgeon who could take the problem away. Or maybe I was waiting to die. It was simply a matter of which came first. When I was seventeen they were little fits that passed and I didn’t tell anyone. When I was twenty five they would feel like getting electrocuted. By the time that my wife started to actively seek surgery, they would strike out of nowhere and knock me out after a few minutes of excruciating pain. I was not quick to get brain surgery, but it was that or give up and leave my wife a widow in our early thirties. It’s been four months now. I’m back at work and apart from some post op dietary restrictions, it’s like this never happened. The scar lays quietly in my hairline, a subtle reminder. The Dr’s office worked out the expenses with my insurance (Blue Cross), and I was able to pay my medical debt in no time. God bless Dr Han, I can live without pain and now heaven will have to wait.

My husband was a long time patient of a wonderful neurologist before the doctor passed away. This doctor had always strongly advised against brain surgery to remove an AVM, and until we were forced to find a new neurologist we had not considered removal of an AVM. After being referred to a horrible doctor whom I will not name, we were referred to Dr Han for review of his AVM. This referring doctor was of the opinion that we would be best off to seek treatment in California at UCLA for removal of an AVM. We were unsure what course of action would be the best, so we researched Dr. Han as much as we could. I spent weeks on AVM boards trying to get a more comprehensive understanding of surgery risks, doctors and procedures. If you suffer from an AVM of the brain, I strongly encourage you to review the avm survivors community online and through facebook. There are numerous survivors and if you can have the avm safely removed before rupture, it is absolutely ideal. Meeting Dr. Han and his PA John (whose last name I wish I could recall right now, so sorry!)it was clear that they were a confident and excellent team with a lot of knowledge. Dr. Han informed us that his AVM was considered a level 2 and that treatment with laser would be less than ideal at his age and health. Dr. Han was explicit in his observations that there were going to be risks associated with this surgery and he expected it could take up to a year for my husband to resume normal life. After two meetings with this team we decided that we had to take the plunge before rupture. My husband was ultimately treated with onyx glue and the avm was removed the following day. The ICU team at the hospital were for most part- excellent. Both Dr. Han and his PA made daily visits to my husband while he was in recovery in the ICU. They were also available to alleviate my many concerns as the healing process began. He did experience a bleed during some part of the procedure which did leave him in rehabilitation for a short period. He is still recovering some of his speech ability and maintains some numbness in his right hand. He was back to work and being himself within a month of surgery. All things considered, that is pretty incredible for someone who had to undergo brain surgery. We have had numerous follow up appointments and angiograms. Again, the fact that he is in his 30s seems to have been a relevant factor in a lot of this. The team at this office is very polite and I think given my husband's avm location, it's size, and the risk associated with his treatment plan- that choosing Dr. Han was the best decision for us. If you suffer from a brain AVM and need an honest, experienced doctor to treat or make suggestions for treatment, I encourage you to see Dr. Han and his team. We are thankful daily, that we chose this path.

I give Dr. Patrick Han a excellent rating. He and his whole staff were very professional and kind. He explained in detail what he was going to do then he demonstrated what he was going to do to me and my entire family. He stayed in constant contact with my family while he was performing the surgery. He explained the healing process in detail and kept in contact with me until I was released from his care. I had the Deep Brain Stimulation procedure fof Parkinsons. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I have a new life.

Went to Han after 19 years post op from 2 cerv. fusions (C4-5, C6-7) and a plate, 18yrs of opiates and chronic pain. I had researched artificial discs and Dr Han extensively and was interested in the possibility of tapping Han's experience. He informed me in my first visit that I was probably not a candidate for the artificial discs but that their might be a better resolution. He ordered all the necessary tests. I took these results and consulted several other Drs for differing opinions. Out of the 4, all concurred with Han's take on things, but none were willing to risk the procedure. One said, "That would require, sawing bone and removing screws. There will be metal fragments and bone fragments and it will be risky for just a very little possibility of any relief." Han said it would be a 3 to 4 hour surgery. He went in and cut some bone off C3 that had grown down over the plate and removed the plate. He confirmed his preliminary diagnosis that the previous Ortho Surg.(1999 and 2000) had put the plate over a crushed disc at C5-6. I had 2 mm of space which was causing my chronic pain. He performed a discectomy and cleaned up the area, restoring my space and placing a spacer to preserve that space. He also cleaned out the C7-T1 space and placed a spacer their also with a new plate from C5 to T1. I woke from surgery with the stinging of a paper cut on my index finger from an envelope that I had opened the eve before surgery. I had not realized the lack of feeling I had in my finger tips. I also have NO pain in my neck, arms, and hands. I am now 6 weeks post op and have titrated off the opiates that I took for almost 2 decades! I understand that every condition is different and I hope that your situation has the same potential for recovery that mine did. One thing is for certain, If their is a potential for a repair in your unique case, Han will find it, give you the most informed advice available and then if he is willing to take the risks associated with your situation, he will provide you the best option for repair and recovery that you will find....

through a complicated surgery taking over 5 hours to perform, Dr. Han cauterized and removed an AVM from my husband's brain and removed a very large blood clot. He and his team worked diligently to help my husband to a full recovery and always took time to explain any point I was not clear on. Dr. Han is an amazing surgeon and a caring, patient man.

Dr. Han and his team in neurosurgy were above and beyond amazing!! I had been referred to him by my primary doctor. I was still taking in all of the information that my MRI had revealed and after exhausting pain management resources. Dr. Han and his PA John thoroughly showed and explained to me my cervacle spine issues and although my spine had been squeezed and weakened, it was not damaged. Doctor Han's confidence that this could be fixed, as daunting as the risks were, I felt very comfortable trusting him. He and his team were supportive and answered all of our questions from initial consult through my last follow up appointment. I have not only gained practacly a new neck, pain free, unexpectedly both of my hands and arms are also pain free and I can draw and paint again without what I thought was moderate to severe carpal tunnel syndrome! Great doctor. Dr. Han performed a very complex surgery on my lower back and I'm very pleased with his work. I am still recovering from the surgery but the issues I had before the surgery has not given me problems since and outs been 3 months. Kind considerate, professional, and very knowledgeable.

Dr. Han has been a godsend for us. My diagnosis, severe spinal stenosis, was complicated by a cancerous tumor at the base of my skull but Dr. Han gave us hope that some relief would be accomplished thru c-spine surgery.
