Dr. Paul Gennaro, MD

Dr Gennaro diagnosed my father when multiple other doctors, incl another neurologist, could not. Treatment was successful. He has been treating my mother for a number of years and takes great time, asks the right questions and always listens to everything we say. When my mom pressed him to do something more he sent her to another doctor for a second opinion and it was the same. He's kind, patient and a superb doctor!

Went to Columbia Neuro Center in New York and Dr Genaro Diagnosis was right on . I have read other reviews but I feel sometimes we want to hear something different and Dr. Genaro tells what he sees and that is a problem for some. The brightest people sometimes don't have the best people skills - Do you want a great doctor or a friend?? Your choice

He takes a personal interest in me and really listens to my input.

I saw Dr. Gennaro for neurological evaluation based on an extensive documented history of concerns...based on his completely disinterested manner, his condescending attitude, and his total disregard for my concerns...I wouldn't let him treat my DOG...stay away.

This doctor has a serious attitude problem...his exam of me was rushed, incomplete, and inappropriate. I'm not a doctor, but I can tell when I'm being dismissed and deisregarded (not to mention disrespected). Stay away.

I came in as a new patient , complaining about burning in my feet when I walk too long or stand and when I sit my feet turn purple n get ice cold ... he did a exam n told me I don't have neuropathy he doesn't want me to come back he doesn't find a reason to go further with a nerve test . I'm 26 yrs old n usually people this young don't come in. He seen my feet turn purple in front of him n I told him my two toes on end of my foot go numb. I told him I'm a new mother of twins and will be working soon I need some relief and almost 99 percent sure this is neuropathy. It runs in my family . I have a bad back I have thyroid problems n I have low sugar. I don't just go see doctors so they can just talk to me n charge my insurance. I was so happy I was finally gonna get answers n tests done n I don't have to be on pain around my kids n this is what I get . I would not refer him to any one stay far away if you are young . That's like saying young people don't get cancer . But doctors are a dime in a dozen I'm just going to find another who takes his patients complaints n symptoms serious. No follow ups or anything . He let me leave with no test no work up and in pain .

Treated me like a piece of meat...didn't listen to my problems and made untrue assumptions. Hes not a doctor, hes a butcher.

I'm really surprised by the review below. I've seen Dr. Gennaro for a few years now and he's extremely professional. He takes a lot of time reviewing notes and spending time reviewing the latest updates on my condition. He hears each word I say and even when I don't have symptoms, we go throw a physical evaluation every time. I often watch him think. When I came to him my right hand had atrophied a bit and I had tossed my meds another neuro had given me. I'd given up. He gave me new hope that I did not have to live in the condition I'd committed to. He's not a snuggler, lol. He is however a problem solver and a listener. A great one. He also returns phone calls himself in a timely fashion. He calls your pharmacy, he calls your primary care. It's rare these days. He gave me a life back where I could still hold my daughter when she was smaller. She's bigger now, no more holding. (My problem is dismissible in many neurological forums, but the truth is, it's not). Dropping her in those days was scary and it was a real threat. I have way more good days than bad. He also still fights for me to have ALL good days. Not sure that will happen but I love his dedication for finding out. I never asked him for anything...he just did it. He doesn't baby people, he barely laughs at your jokes, you almost want to hug him and tell him thanks. He does his own evolutions, blood pressure, etc. he talks open and honestly. He only cares about you getting better. One day I'm going to snuggle the shi* out of him when he least expects it...lol. He's a great doc. He's got solutions to everything. His office, also has a lovely staff. Those girls work hard and they are always pleasant.

I approached Dr. Gennaro with a lengthy case history of well documented disabling neurological disorders (EMGs, MRIs, and reports). I saw him because the neurologist that had been treating me was no longer in my health plan, and I needed a replacement physician. Dr. Gennaro only gave me a scant physical neurological examination and completely disregarded the supporting documentation from other physicians I had brought. He only partially reviewed my most recent MRI image on a computer monitor, but totally neglected the report that went with it. In the end, he said there is nothing wrong with me. I have been on disability for over a year with diagnosis' from many other neuro-professionals (including neurosurgeons)...and he finds NOTHING wrong with me? I found his manner dismissive and condescending. I would not recommend him.

Loved this doctor. He spent a great deal of time with me and explained my diagnosis in depth and slowly. He is intelligent and confident.
