Great surgeon, cool customer. He is all business and the business he performs is fantastic. Surgeon's don't need to coddle you, they need to perform....and he does!

I recently had cervical surgery performed by neurosurgeon Dr. Paul Sawin (ACDF & Posterior Cervical Fusion C3-C6). I was impressed right out of the gate. I am a physician recruiter and have 30+ yrs. experience working in the healthcare field. I did a thorough investigation of his background before my first visit. I knew within the first 5 minutes of speaking with Dr. Sawin that HE was the neurosurgeon I would trust my life with. I have been 100% pleased with my decision. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and skilled in complex cervical surgery & reconstruction. His staff was also top-notch. My questions were addressed before I even had to ask. I recommend him without hesitation. Thank you Dr. Sawin and team!

I was very impressed with Dr. Sawin! I have not had surgery done, because he was honest and said if he was in my shoes (with my current symptoms) he wouldn't. I really appreciate a specialist who gives an honest opinion rather than the opinion that will inflate his wallet. Highly recommend you talk with him.

Doctor Sawin and his entire staff including the team in both offices have always treated me with such amazing care from day one when I first came in for my consultation. Doctor Sawin takes his time with you and goes over from What causing to what’s the solution and I am a witness to it. Under Doctor Sawin care I have received nothing but great care he just did a lumbar infusion (ALI) for my messed up L15 S1. I am so satisfied with his service that I wanted to give him some credit on here and will be updating it as time for recovery goes on overall experience is one of a kind for sure including the team !!!

The entire office from doctor on down has an ego greater then TRUMP!!

Dr. Sawin did surgery on my mom's back about 15 years ago fused 3 of her lower discs then years later fused two more above that. My mom is in no pain to this day. Dr. Sawin did surgery on me and put a stainless steel artificial disc C5 C6. I had relatively no pain or discomfort not even post-surgical pain. I did very well and would use Dr Sawin again.

I'm surprised at many comments in the negative about Dr Sawin & team. I've been seeing him for many years and he's done multiple surgeries on my spine. Yes spinal surgery can be scarey but I am never afraid with Dr Sawin. Good God I trust him with my life. He is a deeply caring man who has the most extraordinary skills. He is a trauma surgeon as well. Some days he is dead on his feet but he's still there to see the patients he cares so much about. Lisa is a professional and the best of the best. Can people have off days? Sure. Can an exhausted doctor be confused with a rude or non caring doctor. Sure. I've seen Dr Sawin bright eyed and I've seen him exhausted from being called to do emergency surgery on trauma cases - he still keeps appointments with his patients. Sometimes we patients need to be a little kinder as well. This type of surgery is extremely detailed and long no matter what is needed. No one is going to convince those of us who trust our lives to Dr Sawin that he is a non caring human with poor bedside manner. He is the best of the best and as such he is incredibly in demand by the hospitals he is on staff with. I've never had a more caring, skilled, kind doctor in my life! That goes for his team. Lisa is a professional and a busy one. If you know how busy Dr Sawin is then you know how busy Lisa is. It's not a conveyor belt system but it is a very very busy practice and the amount of patients they see is quite something. I see Dr Sawin almost every visit after surgeries unless it's not warranted or he has an emergency. I can not say enough about Dr Sawin, Lisa, Nancy or any of his team. Truly they are a blessing and I've got no problem if I see Lisa when it's necessary nor do I have a problem waiting a bit for my appointment. In 15 years that hasn't happened very often at all I can tell you that. They are a gift to me. Dr Sawin has fixed multiple issues and we are going in for a big one soon. I trust him more than any other doctor. I've found over the years what a kind compassionate warm big hearted human he is. Patients need to be kind to the doctors too. We need to say when someone, doctor or not, does good work or great work. We shouldn't take for granted someone is unkind because maybe they're tired or maybe there is nothing further they can do. Every day I wake up and yes there's pain but it's less thanks to Dr Sawin and as life, it's just my new norm. I don't let it define me. Thank you Dr Sawin, Lisa, Nancy for your constant kindness over the years. This is long over due. Blessings

Very cold arrogant

I've seen Dr. Sawin over the past 15 years for 4different surgeries. He always takes his time to explain each procedure and what the expected outcome will be. I have no qualms about having any surgery he recommends. My first surgery was thoracic (T10-12); the Jewett Clinic sent me to Dr. Sawin because they "wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole"! I knew right then if the Jewett Clinic recommended him he had to be good, he's not good....he's fantastic!

Dr. Sawin operated on me almost 2 yrs ago. I definitely recommend him to anyone needing any type of spine surgery. Some people are good at what they do because they study and work hard, others are great at what they do because they have a natural ability and love for what they do and that is Dr. Sawin

Dr. Sawin is extraordinarily competent as a spinal surgeon having performed on me a very complex multi-level lumbar stabilization emergency surgery. He is extremely patient taking his time explaining the condition, surgical procedure, short and long term recovery benchmarks. He does not sugarcoat the details and gives the patient reasonable expectations for outcome. But beyond the technical ability, he is the most compassionate and sincere human being I have ever met in the medical profession. He gives you his full attention, answers all questions and has a genuine concern for you as a person, not just as a patient. Nancy his efficient patient coordinator is helpful and efficient.

Great doctor but staff could use a course in customer service 101.

My experienced took place in 2013 - Overall pretty bad from the begining. Staff very rude and very poorly run office to the point of disbelief. My success in my surgery once again is beyond disbelief came in told I need emergency surgery to have a decompression/fusion on my cervical spine. Exhibiting no signs of weakness or pain. Granted my X-ray told another story. Needless to say didn't want to take a chance and was told my surgery would be 95% successful. Dr. Sawin Bedside Manner has room for improvement. Needless to say was told he was highly regarded for this very complicated surgery yet referred as a precautionary surgery. How am I doing today almost 3 years later. Let me put it tyhis way I live in 24/7 in chronic pain mainly head & neck pain. When I rarely had a headache and now the pressure/pain is literally inhumane. I have done everything under the sun to find relief even ask Dr. Sawin to see me again which he agreed to do. To basically waste my time and drive to feel very dimissed he done all he could the rest is not his problem or concern where he gave me a list of other doctors over FL who are most likely his golfing buddies. The point I want to make is think twice in seeing this surgeon. And the not so flattering reviews you are reading are dead on with I too experienced for a year. No one should have to go through the insanity of that office and their staff and the doctors. And get away with it. I truly wish I thought twice and I wish I filed a law suit on them. My life has changed dramically from being very active to now exhausted w/ living with chronic pain, I should of had these symptoms before my surgery not after.

Tried to get an apt at this doctor and the lady in charge of getting records is the nastiest bâ?¦. on the planet. She basically screamed at me and curse me out saying that she didnâ??t get my records when Orlando Orthopedic confirmed they sent it twice. They list a fax number on the web so I told her to go there and check and she refused. I wonder sometimes if some people are raised by animals or somethingâ?¦ If this is how the receiving staff treat patients Iâ??d rather find another doc regardless. Are you serious???!

I had a cervical discectomy by Dr. Sawin in 2003 and was very satisfied with him and his staff. By 2014, everything has changed. The staff is rude and totally unsympathetic and abrupt. You cannot even schedule an appointment until all tests from other doctors are sent in, MRI's etc. and your other doctors recommend surgery. Then, you can make an appointment only if the tests show that you require surgery. I must say, I was able to get the surgery in one week which was remarkable. However, during the whole experience, beginning to end, I saw Dr. Sawin for 10 minutes, five before surgery and five after. I had two lumbar fusions and three laminectomies. My pain was NEVER under control during my five days post-op. Dr. Sawin's nurse coordinator saw me in the hospital, and when I called her for help, she was unavailable. I was in excruciating pain for most of my hospitalization. I saw only the nurse practitioner post-op and after experiencing even worse pain five months after surgery, I still could not get an appointment with Dr. Sawin in a reasonable amount of time. (I am from out of town). I am now having additional surgery in my home state because although the area of the surgery has healed, my pain is now above that area and might possibly have been addressed at the surgery. Dr. Sawin's practice is like an assembly line. I will say that the PA Brad, who I saw once, was excellent. I know that Dr. Sawin is an excellent surgeon, but he is absent for pre-op and post-op care and his staff members are totally unacceptable. I lose respect for him because he doesn't seem to care at all about changing anything in his practice, and I would never consider going there again. Spinal surgery is brutal, thus a patient needs considerate care from all staff members and you will never receive it at this practice.

I called the office today and must say... The office staff (Amber) is incredible rude and unprofessional. I will make sure anyone that ask, this is my response. Unbelievable that these educated physicians give so much power to their medical assistants!!!!!!

9 months after surgery he has still not seen me - after major disc fusion surgery only his medical assistant shows up! This doctor runs hot and cold and is not a good communicator. I am in worse pain then when I went in and now partially disabled. I wish I had listened to others who said not to go to this doctor and not to do the surgery. His staff is awfully rude and uncaring, and they only tell you what they want you to hear and are not giving you the entire story. The best place to learn about all this is from the others in the waiting room who are happy to share their stories, some are good, too many are not.

Heed this advice!! I left this practice because it was such a difficult experience. Yes, Dr. Sawin's bedside manner is lacking; the overall patient experience can be truly dreadful because of rude employees and employees providing answers to questions not always based in fact, etc. However, Dr. Sawin's surgical and diagnostic skills are impeccable. I opted for a second opinion and it has been my worst nightmare! My advice to all, go into the patient experience knowing it may be frustrating. If it's not frustrating, you'll be pleasantly surprised; if it is frustrating, you'll have been forewarned. I regret not having tolerance for exasperation; for exasperation led me to seek a second opinion...an opinion which just happened to be wrong. You won this one Dr. Sawin. I was the fool.

The rating below where she says they have emergency car accidents, well this office doesn't even take people who are involved with any litigation from a car accident at all, so I don't know where that came from and yes the office is very poorly run and a woman there by the name of Betty isn't good for business at all That must be where the arrogance comes from Not the best place!!
