My Mother has had ongoing back pain for years. After surgery with Dr. Tibbs, she is pain free. Dr. Tibbs and the UK hospital staff provided outstanding care. Our experience with Dr. Tibbs and the UK hospital could not have been better. He is a blessing to his patients. He showed such compassion and care in addition to his expertise in surgery.

I had my first bout with sciatica 8 years ago, spinal cortisone shots solved the problem. This time, no such luck. My primary care provider referred me to Dr. Tibbs. After initial consultation, surgery was recommended. The surgery was successful. The sciatic pain was gone the day after surgery, now 3 months later I can resume normal activity pain free. Dr. Tibbs and staff were very open and informative. The entire experience was 1st class. IF YOU SUFFER FROM BACK PAIN BE SURE TO CONSULT DR. TIBBS AND STAFF.

####ATTENTION: PLEASE READ#### My own experience can help you choose the right doctor - UK has many great doctors - here is my story on why to at least not get stuck with Dr. Phillip Tibbs By my paperwork they knew I had 9 mental disorders. By the cigarette burns seen on the flexibility test - maybe it’d work into Tibbs mind “hey maybe this kid could use some help” but no it somehow went the opposite direction. I stutter because of years of abuse; I did in front of him and he got impatient, raised his voice, threw his hands around agitated like, and was blurting out answers I could respond with while I was thinking of my own answers - he did that multiple times. It was also a very rushed visit that I left with next to zero information on. He never told me how many herniated discs I have and never even told me I had degenerative disc disease; If I wouldn’t have emailed them it would have gone undiagnosed - I spent $1,150 for an MRI that took 11 images and he looks at 1 image for less than 10 seconds - I have to get the MRI reviewed again making the entire visit almost useless; I tried to get some answers/education by having them send me an email and explained my issue with my visit but I got ignored so I couldn’t even see what oral medicine/what’s in the injections used at UK so I couldn’t even do my own research on available options - I’m in extreme isolation and on average leave my home 2-3 times a month and that’s for groceries/doctors. I go into a hospital - holding back tears walking down its hallways - because I can hear distant conversations all blended together and being 3 weeks without hearing a humans voice it was all just really stimulating and it’s like, I’m alone at this hospital not knowing what’s wrong with me I judge people based off how they treat others and even when this doctor knew some of my pain .. just don’t put your health in his hands. If you don’t know any of the other doctors just make sure his name doesn’t pop up as I’m switching doctors myself. It’s important to feel cared for by people you place the trust of your health in and this just being so far in the opposite direction - I had to voice my experience Best of luck and remember even the best doctors don’t give you all the information so remember to educate yourself as well. Dr. Tibbs and his staff made me feel comfortable from my very first visit. The results of my surgery are remarkable. Thank you Dr. Tibbs!!! You have given me a new outlook on life!

After 7 long years of dealing with Spondylolisthesis and Spinal Stenosis, I finally found a solution, his name is Dr. Phillip Tibbs. He made sure that I had tried all less evasive routes, and I did (physical therapy, chiropractor, spinal cortisone injections, and even resorted to pain meds). I had experienced doctors telling me that the only solution was a pain pump to the total other end of the spectrum, doctors making me feel like the pain was all in my head and that perhaps I didn't "need" pain meds. Then , I found the CURE, Dr. Tibbs performed the PLIF surgery and within days I felt 100%better! I am no longer in pain, no more pinched nerves, no more "leaks" when you had no idea you needed the restroom. I am finally living MY LIFE again.

Dr.tibbs has performed a neck fusion ,back fusion on me.I believe he's the best neurosurgeon in the state of kentucky.

Dr. Tibbs performed PLIF (Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion) of L4-L5 and excision of synovial cyst due to Spondylolisthesis. The nerve pain down my leg was immediately gone after surgery, as well as my back pain much improved. I am only 6 weeks post surgery, still healing and back to walking daily for exercise (will be able to resume other forms of exercise at 3 months), AND able to sleep again! I was told I'm on the younger end of the need for surgery (48), but it was the only option. Dr. Tibbs, who is very conservative when it comes to the need of surgery, thoroughly explained my condition and the how's and why's of the progression of pain over the months prior to surgery. He was patient with me, answering all my questions, making sure I understood the process-he is a very caring doctor. I stayed 3 nights at the University of Kentucky Hospital post surgery and all the staff was wonderful! I can't rate Dr. Tibbs high enough---he's amazing!

Debilitating pain and limited mobility were my problems.. Now am able to perform all activities of daily living without difficulty. Underwent surgery, in my opinion this Dr. and his team are excellent.

We have have never experienced such wonderful care as we did with Dr Tibbs and his entire staff!! My husband had a ruptured disc and was in excruciating pain. Dr Tibbs treated him immediately! My husbands surgery and recovery couldn't have gone any smoother. We would definitely recommend this team and Dr Tibbs.

GREAT DOCTOR. I HAD A SEVER FRACTURE L1 OF THE SPINE. DR. TIBBS OPERATED ON MY SPINE AND PLACED 4 SCREEWS AN 4 RODS AN 2 PLATES AN FUSED MY SPINE. HE IS A WONDERFUL SURGEON. I LIVE IN WEST VIRGINIA, AN WAS VISITING KENTUCKY WHEN I CAUGHT MY BACK BROKE. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE BROKE ALL BUT 3 BONES IN MY SPINE. THANKS TO DR. TIBBS I AM ABLE TO WALK TODAY.

I had spinal fusion @ L5/S1. I am returning to work after only 8 weeks, and I am happy to report I am pain free! After 10 years of suffering and being shuffled from one 'specialist' to another, I have a new life now. Thank You to Dr. Tibbs and his staff @ UK, eager to get back to my life!

Dr. Tibbs and his staff did a wonderful job of caring for me during my operation. I had a spinal fusion and have been thrilled with the outcome of the surgery. Dr. Tibbs had a wonderful bedside manner and was prompt in addressing any post operative questions/concernsI have had. I would highly recommend him!

Dr. Tibbs is the best in the business. Had neck surgery two weeks ago and feel great now.

Had L4 laminectomy and L4 L5 disc replacement with VariLift inserts. Didn't require any back support during recovery. 11 weeks after surgery and everything is great. Excellent care and support by Dr. Tibbs and his team. Took good care of me in hospital. 5 star rating!!!

Successful surgery, no more pain, what else could you ask for?

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Tibbs & staff. He explained everything about the procedure in terms I understood, he explained to me what to expect after the procedure & after care at home. All staff I encountered were friendly, helpful, professional in appearance & attitude. I did not feel rushed by Dr. Tibbs considering he is a very busy doctor. Everything went as described & expected. I came from Louisville to see Dr. Tibbs based on his reputation & credentials. I would & have recommended him highly to those needing his skills.

Unfortunately no one knows what is going on from one visit to the next, including Dr. Tibbs. The date of injury is wrong on the MD notes -- and there is no one handling processing or faxing those notes to the case manager handling the case. I will not be recommending Dr. Tibbs to any adjusters regarding work related injuries, unless his Lexington, KY office can get better oraganization and provide the information required for claims and current status, when asked at appointments. Nothing is ever filled out by Dr. Tibbs in person, even if the questions are provided on paper --- this office and this physician is not Workers comp. friendly and the staff is often very rude.
