I was referred to Dr. Prema by my primary care physician. I make my appointment and wait over an hour to be brought in. At the time I did not know I couldn't be on my period in order to get a Pap smear. The nurse brings me in and lets me know I cannot have a Pap smear done that day, but reschedules me for a week later. I talk to Dr. Prema for maybe 5 minutes in the time and she explains to me this. The nurse told me I did not have to pay for that first visit. I come in the following week and get the Pap smear done. I end up paying $95 as my copay (it should've been $0 with my insurance for preventative care but since she is a specialist it's $95). Everything is taken care of although I am a little upset I had to pay $95. Fast forward to two months later and they are now sending me a bill for $95 for the first visit, where I had no services done and they are claiming that even talking to Dr. Prema is a consultation and I had to pay. I tried for weeks to get a hold of someone to talk to. The office was terrible at returning my calls and even picking up the phone. If it was actually a consultation, they would've asked me to pay while I was at the office. BEWARE of hidden charges and make sure to ask when you make your appointment how much you will be paying as a copay

I was recommended to Dr. Preema for urinary incontinence and a swollen urethra. She was rude to me and told me that those issues were "not medical issues." She was so awful to me personally that she caused me to cry, and I am not an overly emotional person. Her office staff could not set up appointments properly. I got a call from the office manager 17 days after I asked them to forward my medical records to me so I could see another doctor. They left me a voice mail saying that they would charge me $25 just to send a report that is less than 10 pages long. Oh, and if you're pregnant or hoping to become pregnant, forget it. She "no longer delivers babies." She is supposed to be a urinary specialist, but is only interested in patients who will pay an arm and a leg for surgeries that are not covered by insurance companies. She tried to sell me this service too. Not to mention the fact that she made me wait for over an hour for my scheduled appointment. I showed up early, her staff did not take me to a room until 60 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Then she did not bother to come to the room until 25 minutes later.

Having Dr. Prema as a doctor was a great decision and she made the very stressful process less daunting. She was always able to communicate with me throughout the whole process. Very lovely and kind Lady, definitely would recommend.

My OB, Prema Kothandaraman, got my due date two weeks wrong. A week after she told me, i went into labor. This made my daughter 2wks early. But when i got to the hospital it turned out my OB was at a family function. She told the nurses my daughter would be a month premature and to give me a shot to stop my labor. Said if i was still in labor in 6hrs she would come in. This went on for the next 24HRS. In 6hr increments. 2 shots and 2 pills later she was still no where to be found and ordered an ultrasound. The ultrasound tech said my daughter was ready to come out and he didnt know what the doctor was waiting for. My c section was ordered and a completely different doctor delivered my baby. She was immediately taken away and they said she was having issues breathing. It was 5:30pm and i was told to start pumping to get my milk ready and she would be back with me shortly. At 3am i called a nurse in to ask where my baby was. She told me that the medication the doctor had them give me to stop my labor had given my daughter a respiratory issue and they would need to keep her longer to clear the amniotic fluid from her lungs!! The doctor that came in the next morning LIED and said it was a common thing to happen to c sectioned babies because the birth canal didnt squeeze her to push out the amniotic fluid. My daughter was in the nicu for the first week of her life because of Prema Kothandaraman. P.S. was extremely anemic during my pregnancy and would come in explaining the dizzy spells and being bed ridden. This OB continued to tell me to increase my sugar intake.

She lies and 1 of her staff us rude she didn't fix my problem she made it worse.dont go to her

She had me pay up front in full for my visit, then sent me a bill later that showed she had also billed my insurance and asking me for more money. She also refused to give me the results of my lab test over the phone saying I had to come in, but when I accused her of doing this just to try and bill me for another office visit, she admitted that I didn't really need to come in. I am getting the results directly from the lab.

I am surprised at the few negative reviews posted. I want to write to empower other women and let them know, they should be fearless in Dr. Prema's hands. After suffering from two miscarriages Dr. Prema had made my third pregnancy stress free. She was very considerate and compassionate knowing the fear of loosing another pregnancy. Dr. Prema gave me strength and hope to put me at ease. The nurses and staff were also understanding and caring. Dr. Prema answered all of my concerns and was quick and efficient with my prenatal care. She put my worries to rest, and was on top of things and incredibly thorough with all the test, etc. The delivery itself was amazing, she stayed in the hospital as my labor progressed for many hours not leaving and attending her office like some physicians would. Dr. Prema delivered my beautiful daughter. My postnatal care was also great. Dr. Prema stills continues with my annual exams and notifies me when it's time for the next exam. If your looking for a professional, caring, and want all of yours concerns addressed, she is the one. All I can say, "trust your body with her".

I feel blessed to have Dr. Prema as my physician. She performed a surgery for me a few weeks ago at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. Dr. Prema's loving, warm, and reassuring presence calmed me and made me feel comfortable. The surgery went extremely well due to Dr. Prema's excellent surgical skills. (She is Yale trained.) I work in the health care industry and call on OBGYN's all across the Los Angeles area, and Dr. Prema is the doctor I picked for myself because she is the best there is. She embodies the love, the care, and the intelligence you would want from your health care provider.

We have been there few times during pregnancy. The doctor and staff are very friendly. I will defenitely recomment this doctor.

I wish I had done this surgery 10 years ago. Prema diagnosed the problem, gave me the options and decided to do the sling procedure. I got my freedom back ;-). Highly recommended!

Amazed by all of the negative comments, but please don't judge her by them. Dr. Prema and her staff are amazing! Dr. Prema is an outstanding doctor who genuinely cares for her patients. She always gives you her undivided attention and makes you feel at ease. Dr. Prema transmits a sense of serenity and peace that is exactly what one needs during a doctors visit. I have had good appointments and bad appointments. I decided to leave her care in my third trimester because she would look me in the eyes in the office and say "I will see you next time" when we make an appointment in the office, and then I would end up with the NP. She also forgot my due date and used a completely different one without explaining why. I am high risk and it is unacceptable to not see her every time. It would be 8 weeks to see her and I am 34 weeks. She kept sticking me with the NP. She seemed distracted and rushed during my appointments when she bothered to show up for them.

VISITING DR PREMAS OFFICE WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. THE STAFF IS VERY NICE,BUT THE DR DOES NOT TAKE TIME WITH THE PTS.I HAD A APPOINTMENT AT 10:00AM AND THE DR DIDNT ARRIVE UNTIL 11:15 AM. SHE RUSHED THROUGH THE APPT TO TRY AND GET ME OUT. I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS DR FOR ANY OB CARE.

typical wait is 1+ hour and than she rushes you out the door before you can ask questions. Her staff is also utterly useless.

the girls in the front are not very friendly and rude and they are not very helpful. They don't give you a whole lot of information and I had the one to be asking for my prenatal prescription. No one ever offered to ask me if I needed prenatal vitamins. Dr Prema is a nice lady but the staff I feel does a lousy job and the wait time takes forever, I don't even know why I bother to make appointments when they never see me on time anyways. I spend more time waiting to see the doctor than the doctor spending time with me. I will never go back to this office again.

The wait is very long, the staff is unprofessional, the office is managed very poorly, if you leave a message, no call backs, time with the doctor is very minimal, etc.Overall, very bad service.

I saw Dr. Preema because I was worried about a lump I had discovered in my breast, even though a mammogram and US came back negative. She determined the lump was nothing to worry about and was able to clearly explain to me her reasoning, something that had lacked from the first doctor I saw. She didn't rush me and showed a lot of compassion. I will definitely continue seeing Dr. Preema.
