Dr. Richard Randolph Maxwell Francis, MD

The front office/back office staff will not honor contracts with insurance companies. My surgery was approved in writing by United Healthcare and the office refused to schedule my surgery stating they didn't like the reimbursement rate. The office never returns calls. It's unfortunate that this office is not concerned with the health and well being of their patients as the Dr. stated my surgery was required asap. I am very disappointed by the service received. Signed disappointed.

Dr Francis came highly recommended by a 75 yr old retired orthopedic surgon., said it was the best work he had ever seen. Had a fusion and disc replacement results were great. this was a work's comp. Surgery for injury as a HPD policeman. After the case was closed the work comp agent said she has been working work's comp claim for over 10 yrs and everybody that went to Dr Francis had a positive outcome. Had second back surgery for clean out. The office l saff and wait time was 100% improved from my first surgery experience.

I was in so much pain. Pain that I have never had in my entire life. I went to Dr. Francis and he discovered I had 3 broken vertebrae’s. He performed a kyphoplasty and filled the bones with concrete. No more pain like I was experiencing. I am sore but so much better. Highly recommend this doctor.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a Doctor’s office! I have NEVER been to Doctor’s office that overbooks this much. 1st visit. I waited 2 hours after my scheduled appointment time before I was even taken to the evaluation room. I waited another 1.5 hours in the examination room before Dr. Francis decided to make an appearance. 2nd visit. I waited almost 2 hours after my scheduled appointment time and I finally had enough and left. Half of the people in the packed lobby were complaining about having been there 1 hour or more after their scheduled appointment time. Keep in mind that you are contacted twice before every appointment to remind you of your appointment time. The staff wants to make ABSOLUTELY SURE that you arrive ON TIME to your appointment. The takeaway: You must respect their time, but they will not respect yours. ****Update****** I’ve tried for over a week to get my medical records as I will never use Dr. Francis again. Erica (apparently the person that manages medical records) has not responded to multiple voicemails. This is indicative of the type of service you will get at Dr. Francis’s office.

3Hour wait no doctor, asked why, then sent for x-rays, 45 minutes later Doctor shows up, Associate has to read off my symptoms, Doctor examines and talks about problem and further testing, MRI and Nerve test Studies for a tailbone problem. I felt like I was a piece of trash and he had an I am GOD complex. I Believe the excess test recommendations are due to I had good Insurance and he is affiliated with these facilities. Money hungry racketeering. Hired and fired him on same day. Please go see a Neurosurgeon.

This Dr don't care about the patients , before he doing the surgery he is nice , after he took your money he don't care anymore , and all the staff in his office are the same no good manner not respect for all the people to go there .

We waited for 2 hours and still hadn't been seen. I refused to stay longer if a doctor books so many people at one time they obviously don't care to give the patient the individual attention and time they deserve to provide quality care.

Dr. Francis is a wonderful man. I'm still recovering from neck surgery but my migraines are gone. I feel very blessed to have him for my Dr. I have had neck and back pain for over 20 years and no one could find anything. God led me to this wonderful man who I've been searching for over half my life. Thank you Dr. Francis and your staff for all your help and kindness.

This DR performed 2 laminectomy discectomies on my L5-S1. The first didn't last 2 months, so the second was a do-over. Went back to work after physical therapy. 3 months later it shifted again & fusion was only option, in Feb 2016. Began having issues during & after this fusion. Pleaded for MRI to see what was causing a number of issues. All he wanted to do was x-rays, which simply showed the hardware being intact. 2 visits, I pleaded for the MRI. I ultimately went on my own & had one when he refused treatment. MRI discovered 2 NEW herniations immediately above where he did the fusion. His bedside manner is horrible & he is VERY rude & egotistical. By refusing treatment & an MRI, it shows that he thinks he's God & was frustrated with the mistakes he made with my treatment. I've met a number of people treated by him & more than not, they regret him ever touching them, as I do as well. He left me crippled up and struggling to get up and down out of a chair each morning and in excruciating pain!! Do yourself a favor...if you don't want to be treated like a number and dollar signs, seek treatment elsewhere. Countless times I'd have an appointment at a certain time, yet it would be HOURS and HOURS later when he'd see me. And even when he saw me, he'd spend 2 minutes after I'd driven over 90 miles one-way in pain. Yes, his office in Beaumont helps in vicinity to deep southeast Texas, but do yourself a favor and find another surgeon. Its worth the drive elsewhere to get better care and treatment. I simply wanted him to correct my back so that I may return to work for another 20 years, and some semblance of activities and hobbies I love. Instead, he left me unable to work and in severe pain, and unable to do many basic things due to the pain. All he had to do was order the MRI and address it. I'll find out next week if the method of fusion that he uses, created the other herniations. Avoid this doctor like the plague.

My daily life has changed tremendously since Dr. Francis performed the surgery. First and foremost I don’t dread waking up every morning. I have lost weight and feel like a brand new person. I laugh so much more. I would recommend Spine Associates to anyone that has any neck, spine, or back problems. Dr. Francis takes his time and explains everything you are feeling and going through. He also told me exactly what to expect and how to manage

Dr. Francis has no social skills, bedside manner or professional ettiquette. You are a # to him and once your surgery is over with, you are dismissed and unimportant. He relies on his P.A. to answer your questions or convey to Dr. Francis questions she cannot. Be prepared to wait longer if the P.A. can't answer them because it takes the Dr. Another 30 minutes to come into the examination room. He does not take the time to refresh himself on your file before your appt. and rushes through your visit. The wait time is over three hours and I suppose thats due to the over bookings. I surmise that's because he has to pay for all of the modern conveniences like flat screens he had throughout the area. He won't divulge important things unless you ask or know to ask either. Make sure you read up on HIPPA law because I found it disconcerting that he puts on his medical "performance" in front of a huge big screen in ear listening distance of other patients. The staff will assume their pre-staged position in front of you either against the wall or facing sideways so he can place the spine model against the nurse's back or side & commence explaining your surgical procedure. Why that's not done behind closed doors I stead of his "area" is beyond my understanding. He argued/debated me as to what my pain level was after my surgery and told me to take the meds he never prescribed to me. He didn't know whether or not I was in PT or not after he told me to stop. I finally sought a new physician after he wanted to perform surgery on the opposite leg that I was having pain in. The second physician stated that I didn't need surgery and that I should continue my PT. Dr. Francis encourages surgery right off the bat. If you choose this physician ask questions and make sure you get everything "In-network" and ask why all of the urine specimens. Good luck!!! Hindsight is 20/20!

Horrible bedside manner. Is not familiar with me as a patient. Long three hour wait just to be rushed. Very impersonal physician. Not a very good communicator in not asking questions. Didn't feel like I was important.

I usually am not one to write reviews online complaining about things, that's why I want to emphasize to anyone on here DO NOT go see this doctor.. I went to see Dr. Francis for issues with my L5 disc. I waited 2+ hours in the waiting room.. finally got in and he had his PA come in and ask various questions related to medical history, it was pretty clear she did not even know basic information about medications etc.. I had to correct her several times in typing down my info. Dr. Francis comes in and the PA reads him the entire history.. He performs several reflex exams on me and looks at my XRay.. then proceeds to say I am going to need surgery on my disc because it is bulging... He never once asked me anything or discussed alternatives to surgery.. I chose to ignore his advice and got steroid injections and now take a nerve medication and now have minimal pain.. NOW HERE IS THE BIG ISSUE.. I get a bill 4 months later for drug testing that he performed I guess so he could possibly give me pain medication if needed.. They billed my insurance company $4,500 for drug testing and my insurance only covered a partial amount.. I now owed $2000!!! FOR DRUG TESTING!! I also saw that he billed my insurance $1000 for a 45+ minute visit.. I literally saw him for 15 at max.. This is medical fraud at it's finest people.. and doctors like this are the reason why we have such high cost insurance and medical care in this country.. I am still dealing with this issue right now and figuring out what kind of action I can take. I just wanted to give anyone fair warning before getting involved because I would hate to see this happen to someone else..

I met with Dr. France's today for severe back and leg pain. My pain level has decreased my quality of life tremendously and I am only 36 yrs old. The initial exam was very thorough. He explained everything well and I have complete confidence in his ability to perform my surgery. The wait time for later appointments may be long but that is because each appointment is approximately 2 hours. You definitely get a thorough exam. His assistant is absolutely wonderful and the ladies at the front are great as well. I would recommend him to anyone at this point.

Dr. Francis is by far the best doctor I have encountered. He and his staff gave me 100% care and attention, which is rare these days. He takes the time to explain your diagnosis and procedure that will follow. I've had pain and numbness in my arms, shoulder and fingers for several months now. I would drop things or they would slip out of my hands. It was very frustrating! I was not looking forward to my surgery, as thoughts of something going wrong consumed me. I went through the surgery and woke up a new man. I was still groggy, but I noticed that I could feel my fingers and lift my arm with no pain. It was almost instant healing. Thank you Dr. Francis!

I thank God for Dr. Richard Francis. He is a talented specialist who restores life with his gift. After having a discectomy at L5-S1 in 2009, I returned to playing sports and activities that I love.

Excellent physician. What he told me would happen after surgery has been 100% correct. I have been in a lot of physician offices and his practice is run exceptionally well.

Don't waste your time. I'm almost positive MD owns part of or gets payment due to "ownership" of the drug testing labs. You should see all that they billed my insurance for for 1 VISIT!!!!!!! 25 different CPT codes and now sending me a bill!!!!! I waited over 2 hours and staff says wait is usually over 4 hours. Horrible horrible bed side manner, spoke like a robot and would only talk through his NP/PA, which was so awkward I felt so sorry for her. There are way too many Drs to waste your time with him!
