Dr. Richard Patrick Mackessy, MD

Dr.Richard Mackessy was my saving grace. While my daughter was away in Italy, I fell in the bathtub and broke my arm. My stay at Rahway Hospital was excellent, and Dr. Mackessy performed surgery on my upper arm. He reached out to my daughter and kept her posted on my progress. So happy to have found Dr. Mackessy and I would highly recommend him.

I had a first time visit with Dr. Mackessy. He was very thorough, kind and patient and answered any questions that I had. If I have to return to see him, I definitely will.

Very much liked Dr. Mackessy... a straight shooter not interested in selling surgery... answered all my questions. Very irritated by the front desk: I asked for a form to fill in while I waited and was just told "please wait for us to get to you": the person should have told me "We don't use forms... a staff member will come and take your information". Instead I was just told "please wait". They should realize that 99% of doctor's offices give you a form to fill in while you wait, and that it is normal to provide a form.

I don’t usually post to these kind of things but just wanted to say that Dr. Mackessy is a wonderful doctor. He has helped me regain the use of my hands and words can’t express my gratitude. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Dr Mackessey is always been a very god Dr a pleasure to see and he has helped me many times! He has the most awesome bedside manner! He’s always there when you need him! He cares about his patients that’s why i go back to him!

Always comfortable. But really could have preferred a prescription for pain

Terrible experiance. No options were given. Maybe my situation is cut and dry to him but it isn't to me. The staff was friendly but Dr. Mackessy didnt even introduce himself. Between his prognosis and the questions I had for him I spent at most 5 minutes with him. Definitely wasnt worth my co-pay. I will be getting a second opinion even if its the same prognosis I wont be going back to Dr. Mackessy!

I visited Dr. MacKessy for a pain when bending my elbow. After filling out paperwork I was taken for xrays which was very convenient. He was very personable and explained my condition which was tennis elbow. He didn't rush the visit and told me how to care for it. My husband had surgery by Dr. MacKessy and raved about him. Don't hesitate and give him a visit.

Been treated for tennis elbow for almost year now, and just getting worse. This guy does not know how to get people healthy. He dos not listen to his patients and does not explain anything. He is just the worst. He is a cortisone injection happy doctor. That is the way he treats you. I have had 6 injections in almost a year. That is all he seems to know. Physical therapy didn't work either. MRI showed partially torn(chronic)tendon, chronic sprain of ligament, and tendinitis in every part of my arms from elbow down to wrist. Getting worse every day with this doctor. Just deplorable.And he lies to you. The worst doctor ever

Doc treating me for a year now for tennis elbow. Just getting worse seeing him. Went to physical therapy, and countless cortisone injections, and no help. For about a whole year.!!! Found out I have sprained chronic ligament tear, partial tear in tendon, and tendinitis just about everywhere from my elbow down to my wrist. What does he do. Gives me my 6th shot!!! Unbelievable!!! Cortisone only works for awhile, and he knows that. Cortisone may help, but also does damage in the long run.Look it up. He is a cortisone happy doc, who DOES NOT LISTEN to patients at all. And then lies to them.Run away fast from this guy. I learned my lesson the hard way
