Dr. Robert Andrew Mecum, MD

Dr. Mecum is one of the most caring, conscientious, and knowledgeable physicians I have ever seen. He cares about his patients and has the best sense of humor! He made me laugh when I wanted to cry! I would recommend him to all!

My dad went to see him for a consult, i dont know where these people are from that believe he is the best. He does not have ANY bedside manner, his office staff couldnt fill out referral requests properly, delay, delay, delay. Ive been informed his wife is the office manger and they have a reputation for being a horrible office to deal with from a hospital's point of view

Insisted my grandma improve her diet to resolve a pain in her stomach in which I pleaded for a cat-scan. He scoffed and wouldn't even look at me the rest of her appointment. Final diagnosis after cat-scan was pancreas cancer.

The staff is very friendly. But their is one person i believe she is the office manager who is very very rude! Myself and other patients have heard her talk down on her employees which is very sad and unprofessional. She interrupts patient/employee discussions. I just dont like it. The atmosphere is very stiff and negative. The doctor is good. I think the manager name is Jessica.

Dr. Mecum is one of the best doctor I have ever visited. He is approachable, patient and knowledgeable. My heartburn issue was resolved after just a couple visits. Besides the visit, I also gained additional knowledge on how to prevent similar problems to re-occur in the future. Thanks to Dr. Mecum. Everything about my visit was great.

I have been seeing Dr. Mecum for the past 10+ years because of my family's colon cancer history. His knowledge, professionalism and caring for his patient make him one of the best doctor I have ever visited.

My wife and I both had colonoscopies done by Dr. Mecum to check for colon cancer. Everything went very smoothly and painlessly. Dr. Mecum explained the procedure clearly, performed the colonoscopies without any problem, and took time to review and explain the results to us. We also liked his friendly, low-key manner. I would definitely recommend this doctor. I was surprised to read some of the negative comments about his office staff. They were certainly courteous and responsive to us.

Choosing to see Dr. Mecum was the best medical decision I have ever made!! My primary care doctor recommended him, and Dr. Mecum lived up to everything my doctor told me about him. He was patient, intelligent, concerned with my problems, and was helpful in every way possible. His office staff was very courteous and efficient: EXACTLY WHAT AN OFFICE STAFF SHOULD DO. Everything about my visit was great, and I would highly recommend Dr. Mecum for everyone! You are definitely in safe, experienced hands. Thank you Dr. Mecum for saving my life!

I had the misfortune of having a family history with colon cancer. It is thus with great dread that I came to meet Dr. Mecum. Fortunately, Dr. Mecum was patient with me, listing to and then answering all my questions in a straight forward, supportive manner. When I finally agreed to do my colonoscopy, I knew I made the right decision. The colonoscopy went through painlessly enough, and I'm glad we got two very small polyps. I will be in for another checkup in 3 years. I'm so glad to have met Dr. Mecum. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, competent doctor who is also patient and compassionate, I'd highly recommend you go see Dr. Mecum.

Dr. Mecum has been so patient with me that not only my medical conditions have been improved, but also my health and quality of life! Highly recommend Dr. Mecum to needed patients.

I felt the need to come on here and follow up because both Dr. Mecum and his office staff have so horribly disappointed me.I called the office to confirm that Dr. Mecum had prepared my lab paperwork, as he and I had discussed over the phone, and two of the women in the office behaved deplorably.The first one, Jessica, wouldn't even let me explain why I was calling. She interrupted me and then put me on hold to speak with the doctor. If she had let me speak, she would have realized I had no need to speak with the doctor. I hung up and called back, only to be met by another unprofessional staff member. I would mention her name, but she didn't provide it when answering the phone. I explained why I was calling and then asked for the lab paperwork to be sent to the lab in order to eliminate the need for me to drive to the doctor's office and pick up the paperwork.It took THREE attempts to explain why I could not go to the lab and then call the doctor's office, as I would be going to the lab after work, which is after Dr. Mecum's staff is gone for the day. She finally understood on the 3rd go-around and the documents were eventually faxed.Additionally, Dr. Mecum has taken an extremely passive approach to my treatment. The last few appointments have been nothing but, "well MAYBE this is what's causing it. Take this pill for the next two months and well monitor the situation. This would all be great if I wasnt still actively having unexplained bouts of excruciating pain; again Im not a doctor, but my educated guess is that THIS IS NOT WORKING.Having read his online reviews prior to my first visit, I went in concerned about his reluctance to be more proactive and possibly causing damage that could have been avoided. Im sad to say that my experiences have only served to bolster the claims made by other patients.Additionally, the lack of professionalism in the office concerns me because they serve as the gateway between doctor and patient. The poor attitude makes me question their ability to act in the patient's best interest.

First off, I want to say that his office staff was wonderful. Based on previous reviews, I was dreading an encounter with the staff, but they were great.As for Dr. Mecum, he is a WHOLE other story. He might be a very intelligent, highly-qualified doctor, but I had difficulty recognizing that because I was distracted by his inability to treat me like an intelligent person.Newsflash...I don't have a medical degree, but I know my body. I know what symptoms I have and more importantly, which ones I DON'T have. So when you suggest a course of treatment that doesn't jive with what I'm feeling, it helps if you explain WHY you want to do certain things and not do others.Dr Mecum needs to stop pelting his patients with looks of annoyance and condescension. I'm sorry if all my questions make you sit in the room with me longer than you care to, but TOO BAD. It's a shame that the only way to get good care here is to be confrontational with the doctor. I realize my case is not monumental by most medical standards, but it's monumental to ME because it is happening to ME.He started to leave the room before even making it clear if I needed to come back for a follow-up visit. It wasn't until my husband asked, that Dr Mecum said, "Yes, we'll see you in a month." I'm sure the staff would have mentioned this when I checked out, but that is unacceptable. Before you run out of the room and move onto the next patient, do me the courtesy of providing me with clear instructions as to how I should follow up.I'm not ready to write Dr Mecum off. He did (after all)explain my symptoms and treatment to my satisfaction (eventually) and he wasn't in a hurry to use invasive methods to diagnose my problem. I'll give him credit for that, but we'll see how next month's visit goes.

I am involved in ongoing treatment with Dr. Mecum. I looked up his reviews prior to starting my treatment, and almost didn't start treatment with him based on his poor reviews, and the reviews of his office manager, but in the end, I decided to give him try. What a big mistake. Overall, Dr. Mecum has been a decent doctor. He doesn't rush me out of the office, and he is able to answer my questions regarding treatment. However I cannot recommend this office because of the office manager. On her better days she has been difficult, nasty, even aggressive. On her bad days she is much worse. She is very unprofessional and rude. Even hung up on me while I was talking to her. I guess I shouldn't take it personally since I have heard her on the phone with other patients (while waiting in a room to see the doctor) and she was just as rude them. His office usually is full, so I am sure that he still brings in the business. However, once I am through with treatment I will never go back. I even considered switching doctors in the middle of my treatment, just so I wouldn't have to deal with this difficult person. I should have followed my insticts after reading the reviews and stayed away from this office.

No issues with the doctor. However, the person who handles billing for this office is going to have a lot to explain/answer when I call on Monday. I just now received a final notice statement, which also happens to be the first and only statement I've received. Further review of this statement shows an error on their part stating that I've either overpaid my co-payment (in office), dreadful data entry by employees, or appalling and inadequate medical billers. If someone is going to threaten to send my account to corrections, they better not have shown any error on their part. Get it together!!!

lumps all patient symptoms together. It's all about him. He actually believes he knows how the patient is feeling and has not a clue to the actual symptoms of the medical disorder. The office staff knows more than him. Worse than that he seems like he is not even interested to learn.
