In reading the reviews for Dr.Vogelgesang I was shocked about some of the comments. I have been a patient at Alliance Pain Center for several years and yes, sometimes the wait is a bit long but it is at every office I have been to. The difference at Dr Vogelgesang's is that when your with him he is not trying to hurry you up. He listens with understanding ,compassion and is totally focused on my issues. The government does control the amount of certain medications... It is not Dr.Vogelgesang you need to be upset with it's the government. And yes, he does push a type of tough love “ you should exerciser..get out of in front of the TV and off the couch” But its given with my best interest at heart.

A respected surgeon in the area highly recommended Dr. V after my 3rd and 4th surgeries on both knees. Ten years later this doctor has by himself not only improved my knee usage but has had an impact on my over all quality of life. Ross continues to be on the cutting edge of medicine for his patients and always makes sure to give you a action plan that best fits your current situation. As I have aged he has adapted protocols to fit with my changing anatomy that has allowed me to flourish in my fifties. I am not sure the best way to thank him but thought the least I could do would be to share a little of his impact on me with others that may be considering him for there health care needs. Simply he is the best!! MB

Dr V is great....his office staff is so bad. The one guy Jacob hes useless and arrogant. Cares mostly about his muscles (or at least he thinks he has muscles) only nice to the men to discuss slorts and young attractive girls. He should be fired.

I had been referred to Dr. Vogelgesang's office by another professional. My appointment was scheduled very far out, so I had to wait quite a long time while in a great amount of pain. I had been emailed the new patient paperwork, had copied the forms off, and had them completed and ready to bring with me to my appointment. Two days before my appointment, I received a reminder call that I was scheduled to be seen. The person calling me with the reminder - who claimed to be the office manager and only appointment scheduler (I later found out he is NOT the office manager and certainly not the only scheduler) - also mentioned they did not have my paperwork back yet. I told him I didn't realize I needed to return it prior to my appointment; no one had informed me of this policy. He told me I was lying, that he is the only one who schedules, and he tells everyone this information when they are set up with an appointment. I again told him, no, I had not been informed of this, or I would have gotten this paperwork back to them, as I had had it filled out for almost a month, waiting to bring it in with me for my appointment. He then told me, "Well, I'm just cancelling your appointment, and we'll send you a bill since really, YOU are the one cancelling by not submmitting your paperwork in advance. You can go back to your insurance and figure it out from there, but you're not welcome in this office, you're too argumentative." I desperately tried to explain I needed this appointment, I've been in pain for a very long time, and I would not have deliberately withheld the paperwork, had anyone told me to turn it in ahead of time - but with his yelling at me about how he was cancelling me and I would not be welcome in their office, I couldn't even get anything said, so I couldn't very well be so argumentative. I finally hung up in frustration, since he wouldn't even allow me to speak. I called back and spoke with Dr. Vogelgesang's medical assistant, explained what happened, was promised she would discuss the situation with the guy who had called me, and she would contact me back. My husband ended up calling later, and was informed that their "whole office" decided I was not a good fit, and they would not see me in that office...I would have to seek out a different doctor. All because of human error, because someone failed to inform me to turn my paperwork in prior to my appointment... Completely insensitive and unprofessional. I'm actually grateful I won't be going to this facility.

waste of time, the receptionist told me as I handed in paper work that I'll get only 3 pills a day ?????? I did not even say hello....not a word to him....he looked over my paper work and said 3 pills a day....what in the world was that all about. When doctor came in the room he spouted out " look at you , you need to get back to the gym and keep working out...I'm a little big so I guess he figures I still sling weights....I have been disabled with a spine disease for 8 yrs.I guess he forgot to look..... he said to get back to gym and a little massage and call me tomorrow. I have been on high doses of pain meds and my doc retired so I had to continue at the pain clinic. I never went back for any other appts. very sad for the folks that are going to need the help.

Dr. Vogelgesang will make you sit through a three hour ($500. +) initial appointment and then tell you he won't treat your pain with narcotics (even thought you've been taking them for a number of years) because he read a report that said narcotics are contraindicated for Fibromyalgia.

Doc V, is the most compassionate Doctor I have ever seen in any field. He not only does his very best to help you with your pain, but is a wonderful person that I actually look forward to seeing each month. He is strict with pain medications which in my opinion is the only way to practice pain management. The new CDC rules have tied all doctors hands to truly control your pain, but in the 9 years I have been a patient of his I have had the best possible care. He has no problem working with you to get to the root of your pain issue, and has actually helped me far more than my regular GP. I would love to be able to have him as our family Doctor, but feel blessed to have him in my life to treat my vast pain issues. Just follow the simple rules and you will love being a patient in his care. You will never feel rushed out the door like most other doctors, he actually takes the time to ask you how your life is going and truly cares. He is a true professional in every sense of the word.

I count it a great blessing to be a paitient at this clinic. They are a kind and understanding staff working hard to improve each of their paitients quality of life. I cant thank them enough.

Keeps patients waiting - up to two hours past appointment time. Won't tell patients that he only needs to see them once every 3 months and can give scrips for 3 months at a time to make more $$. Office is a factory for seeing as many patients as possible for monetary gain for the physician.

Wait time was consistently 3+ hours past appt time. Dr V does not remember what was discussed from appt to appt. Prescriptions written for 28 days w/appt 30+ days out so always ran out. PA was condescending and rude; walked out in tears. Worked up the nerve to let Dr know I lose pay waiting those 3+ hours and don't appreciate it. Was terminated from his practice a week later via letter after complaining about the 3+ hour wait times. Reason stated was "downsizing of the practice." Was not weaned off meds as I was told I would be, so left to go through horrible withdrawals while fruitlessly searching for another provider. A friend called the next day and was told YES, they ARE accepting new patients. After waiting hours to see him, he would rush through my appt and suddenly walk out without answering questions, making the discussed referrals etc. longest time he spent w/me was 20 minutes. I saw him 4-5 times; perhaps the unprofessional abrupt and unethical termination is a blessing after all. I was 200% compliant in all aspects required of me yet treated abysmally. RUN FROM THIS PRACTICE NO BEUNO! What provider starts a person on such addictive drugs then terminates the medical relationship in this manner? I'd never been on ANYTHING stronger than a 5 mg Vicodin. Had never become dependent on a drug. Then this doctor puts me on highly addictive medications and doesn't even wean me? Unethical and dangerous.

I find this Dr.a carding person that actually helps.

I have been a patient of Dr. Vogelgesang for many years. I first arrived in his office depressed, frustrated, exhausted and feeling hopeless (not to mention, in daily pain). I didn't ask for promises nor did he give me any but he told me earnestly that he would help make my life better. He fulfilled that statement made to me years ago- by 150%. I've read the other reviews and understand some of the comments: yes, sometimes you have to wait, sometimes it's a long time- however, that is because (unlike other doctors who get up after 15 minutes to let you know your time is up) he will sit and listen as long as you need. Sometimes I am in and out in 15 minutes- I just need a quick touch base and I'm ready-- other times I have a few or many questions, I need someone to listen, or I need some encouragement -- and sometimes that takes a while. When I first started going to his office I asked someone sitting next to me in the waiting room what the wait times were like. She said, "well, they can be short or long, but we all know that's because Doc V will spend as much time as we need. Sometimes I need more time which causes me to back him up with his next patients and if it happens to me I know someone else needs him." That made sense to me and it seems like there has always been some unwritten understanding between us patients (or at least his long term patients who know him) that one day I'll cause him to get behind and one day someone else will but when we need him, he's there for us. So what do I do? I bring a book, or my knitting and I relax...hey, someone else needs his time today. I understand. His staff (Dr's, assistants and front office) are the nicest, most professional, friendliest group of people I've ever come across. Better yet, they all seem to like each other and seem to enjoy what they do. That doesn't happen by accident, only when professionalism, care for the patient and understanding are expected/demanded from the top on down. As for Dr. Vogelgesang's beside manner - well, he's friendly and puts me at ease: shares jokes and makes me laugh and tells me about his family or his day. But when I need someone to tell me "what's what" he's right there to tell me I better listen up and get with the program. He comes across to me as a Dr. who will let you gripe and complain and make excuses.....once, then you need to meet him halfway and work with him and the plan he comes up with--which is for your benefit. I have chronic pain...every day, every hour and at times I get fed up, angry, morose and/or start feeling sorry for myself. Dr. V and his staff understand that but expect me to work the plan and that plan has always gotten me out of that kind of thinking and into a better state. Over the years he has told me one thing or given me advice and then changed it. That's because medicine changes. New discoveries are made, new philosophies are developed...so his outlook and his methodology changes. What I expect is that my Dr. keeps up with those changes, and Dr. V does. For a chronic pain patient that can be hard - we get really passionate about what is helping us and can be uncertain and wary about something new. But I trust Dr. V to explain what is going on and to listen to my concerns. It's important that I mention that I only see Dr. V every 3-4 visits (I go monthly) and that I feel the same way about the other doctors (I'm not sure what their medical titles are ) who work there. Again, when you get the same type of care from different people in the office, you know that it's not mere chance but a deliberate way of working and caring for the patients. I have one HUGE concern: what do I do if that office closes or moves??

lies on your records BEWARE if you see this man you will set and set and set over 2 hours most of the time and if you have MRI done don't think you will know what's wrong with you because one of the nurses never put them in your files So this so called DR. will ask one of the offices workers to call and have them fax !Well he's so called offices workers never do as there told ,and lets talk about the UAs every mouth when your putting your cup in the little door there's not just yours in there 3 to 4 cups !!Makes you wonder what there all doing Not answering the phone I have had to go all the way down there and ask about my apt .No he will not give you call's to remind you that you have an apt LIKE ALL OTHER DR !But he will charge you if you forgot also beware if you are late well you don't get to see him double standard

I have had chronic pain condition for over 20 years. Only have had two doctors who were very caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. Dr. Vogelgesang is one of them. You may have to wait but it is worthwhile because he will spend as much time with you as you need and work to help you. I love this doctor!

Accused me of heroine use from Lab Sample. Have NEVER used heroin. Through me from practice, refused to retest initial test, CUT with no discussion after 4 years. DID NOT, WOULD NOT, USE HEROIN. He's a jerk, don't trust him

I have never met another doctor in my life that cares about his patients as much as Dr. Vogelgesang. He may run a bit behind on his appointments but that is because he spends as much time as necessary to completely help all of his patients. I 100% recommend him to anyone who needs pain management!
