Dr. Roy Alan Majors, MD

Dr. Majors was very rude and arrogant. He did not take the time out to review my MRI results or even explain what he saw. He told me the issue I was there for was not the issue. Told me I had arthritis and that I only had 2 options the shot or more PT and take anti-inflammatory pills. He wrote untruths in my summary report and stated for me not to be referred back to his clinic for an appointment. It doesn't hurt my feelings any at all. I would not go back to him if he was the last surgeon on earth! I would hurt and pray for healing. He was not impressionable at all and put words in your mouth to make himself look and sound good. Karma is always a you know what! His day will come!

I had seen Dr. Majors for an injury to my left knee. He was condescending and rude. I had come back 5 weeks post injury and had asked for an anatomical and physiological reason why my knee was still not functional 5 weeks post injury and his response was so patronizing and whiny. He huffed and said "duh, you dislocated your knee!". He was so unprofessional and rude! I also questioned why he wanted to do surgery without having physical therapy first so my right leg was strong enough to support me while I was recovering. He laughed it off and said that I'd be having PT after surgery anyway and not to worry about it. I really didn't feel like that was a good idea so I got a second opinion. That doctor refused to do surgery on my until I had a minimum of 6 weeks of PT. When I went to the hospital to have the surgery my nurses weren't familiar with my surgeon but were well acquainted with Dr. Majors! They told me he was extremely rude to the nursing staff as well and was even reprimanded for his bad behavior by the hospital. I wouldn't wish this man on my worst enemy!

I went to see this guy with a messed up shoulder. He spent all of 2 minutes in the room with me, was rude, dismissive, and said he could go in there and fix it but it would just undo itself and there was no point in trying. Then he ordered a plain MRI (when I actually needed an MRA) and my next visit with him was more of the same. Thank goodness I found someone else who ordered the proper imaging to figure out what was going on, and that I got in with an ortho that actually has the experience and knowledge that could address my severely unstable shoulder and perform the capsulorrhaphy and SLAP repair I desperately needed. No more constant subluxations! I will never ever return to OrthoCarolina. Dr Majors, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Dr. Majors has performed Shoulder Arthroscopy With Rotator Cuff Repair with Biceps Tenodesis, Space Decompression and Acromioplasty on both my right and left shoulders, he was excellent in all regards to my procedures, subsequent physical therapy and recovery....I've referred more than one friend/colleague to him for consultation.

Got acl and meniscus surgery could barely walk been in physical therapy for 6 months knee is no better kept tellimg dr majors that i was in pain only offered pills released me while im still im pain. Told me to lose weight and come get a cortizone shot if I needed it. Does not listen or try to help you only gives you pills and say leep going to physical therapy. Worst doctor ever#!##

Dr. Majors methods are just a bit aggressive (so I'm told), but the results are wonderful! Two rotator cuff operations (different times) and I was back lifting weights quickly. Even my PT could not believe the results.

Our experience with Dr. Majors was highly professional, thorough, clear in communication of medical opinion and options, and very prompt. From initial visit, through consideration of surgery options, to post-op analysis and support, Dr. Majors is one of the most organized and knowledgeable medical professionals we have ever had the pleasure of working with, and his support staff are equally professional and courteous.

Appalled at the total disregard of reviewing my chart. Suggested a couple of "fixes" that are non-options due to my medical history and allergies. No eye contact, less than 3 minutes in the room. Gruff, dismissive, rude. Found a great second opinion that actually has a game plan how to fix me rather than blowing me off and ignoring the warnings in my chart. Ugh! The staff is great, but Dr Majors has one of the worst bedside manners I have ever encountered.

Wanted to do surgery without MRI.

Between my husband and I, we've used Dr. Majors for 5 surgeries. There is NO ONE, anywhere that can even touch the amazing work he does. He isn't just a cutting surgeon, he's an artist and exceptionally detailed in his work. Absolutely the jewel of the Queen City medical world!

Dr. Majors has a great deal of experience in his specialties. He is very thorough and explains everything he does prior to doing it. He concentrates more on making you well than trying to maintain small talk, but is friendly and kind. He is quite skilled and definitely an impressive physician.

Dr. Majors repaired my child's ACL. I found him to be very polite and efficient which is what I want in a physician. He did a great job explaining what occurred during surgery. His nursing staff at his office and the surgery center is the best I have ever encountered. They were very patient, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would recommend he and his staff to anyone in a heartbeat.

Dr. Majors works fast but is thorough. He listened to me carefully and responded to my requests and special questions. In this day and age, doctors are scheduled tightly. So just because Dr. Majors works quickly does not mean he is not as good a doctor as someone who spends a lot of time with you. Dr. Majors knows his "stuff" and gets right to it. Because he works fast, he has openings to help someone who needs an answer in an emergency. I was hurting bad and was able to get in to see Dr. Majors right away.

Very rude and unprofessional. My shoulder is in worse shape today after the surgery. He was suppose to do 2 surgeries on me and after the first surgery I would never go back to him even for a headache. I would NOT refer anybody to this clown.

i needed a knee replacement and he lied to me and told me they would not do a knee replacement on me due to my weight and he did not do knee replacements anyway and he done a patch job on my knee and told me that it would last me 10 to 20 years and told me post-op for 1 year that my problem was my weight and arthritis when me and the physical therapist both told him there was some problems because during therapy my knee was popping so bad that they had to quit doing certain exercises and he would not do a x-ray and acted hateful to me when i told him something was not right and told me there was nothing else he could do for me and released me so i got a 2nd oppinion w/dr robert humble and he took a x-ray and called me there to see it and said theres ur problem u need a knee replacement the knee was bone to bone where dr majors told me it was arthritis and the surgery dr majors done was no good so i am having a knee replacement next week w/dr humble. I would not reccomend dr majors to my worst enemy and hate i ever had to use him but thats who the insurance company wanted me to see dr majors is a liar and all for the insurance company and himself once he got his money he could careless what problems i was having w/my knee

Dr. Majors did ACL repair surgery and meniscus repair on my left knee. The surgery went really well and was surprisingly short. My recovery has been somewhat uneventful. However, I did have an issue with retaining fluid on my knee post surgery that Dr. Majors was somewhat reluctant to drain. I understand that he wanted to see if it would resolve itself but the problem was that it completely shut my physical therapy down. He did eventually drain the excess fluid, which was almost miraculous in regaining use of my quad muscle, but I lost two weeks of recovery time as a result of him not wanting to drain the fluid immediately. Draining the fluid was almost painless and only took about five minutes so I am still unsure as to why he was so reluctant to do it in the first place. He also was not very forthcoming prior to surgery as to how long my recovery would be and how debilitating the surgery would be. I was led to believe, by his staff, that everything would just be so much easier and better post surgery. That was so no the case. While my surgery and recovery have, so far, been completely normal, they have in no way been easy or better. In the event of this injury happening to my right knee, I would be almost 100% positive of not having this same surgery again.

Which is fine with me, all I expect is an accurate complete diagnosis with adequate explanation. Surgeons are generally more technically oriented, and Dr. Majors spent additional surgical time and effort on me when the level of damage was found to be greater than anticipated. So far so good.

Majors is the epitomy of the arrogant doctor. Pretty full of himself and "into himself". We in medicine don't have to be this way.....

I haven't been a patient of Dr. Majors in a long time but am three years in to my division 1 career and can thank only him. I tore my ACL my junior year but was able to return my senior year not just because of the talent Dr. Majors has on the surgery table, but because of his caring and thorough outpatient care. If your injury can be fixed, Dr. Majors can do it, you're risking your athletic career by going anywhere else.

I think he is best in his field. I had a acl repair and after a year i couldnt tell the difference in either knee. Now i may have to have a knee replacement and I think he will be the best choice but he doing all he knows to prevent knee replacement!
