Dr. Shahid Saifuddin Insaf, MD

I have been to many psychiatrists over the years, and Dr. Insaf finally arrived at the correct diagnosis and found the right medications for me. He has literally saved my life.

Dr Insaf is very good (THE BEST) but the billing staff is incompetent. The billing staff (HIS WIFE) is the rudest mercenary little gold digger I have ever met, and she runs the show. My insurance company has told them the codes that are acceptable and the billing staff refuses to bill under those codes and sends me the bills. Unless you are willing to pay out of pocket, go somewhere else.

Dr. Insaf comes across as very experienced and tries to implement himself as "boutique psychiatry" for the elite client. However, this could not be further from the truth. Patients are made to get drug test at every single appointment, my wife and I had an out of pocket deductible of 3000 that we had to meet before my insurance paid, so I paid for these drug test every month, I have never had a drug problem! I am just on a few controlled substances he started! Then his wife sends them out on every visit even if you have never had an issue with negative drug screens simply because our insurances was paying close to 400 dollars for each of these. I reported him to my insurance and they are investigating. Everyone waits days for a return call, sometimes you will go the entire weekend w/out your medication. His nurse told me one day that Dr. Insaf wasn't sending in the controlled meds himself, that she was, so therefore she would get to it "when she got to it." You get an assigned appointment time, they didn't care when I would tell them I had to be at work early or that I needed to drop my son off at school- they would say "this is when he will see you." One time I was on my way to work and got a flat tire and called to reschedule my visit, and even after having NEVER missed an apt before got charged a fee. His wife has changed my prescriptions and told me Dr. Insaf made the change, then when I went in to see him he didn't even know I was on that med. They will give you 28 tablets of a medications vs. 30 depending on your apt date and sometimes I have to pay two copays in a month because of this junk! He may spend his time, but most of the time it is listening to himself talk.

AVOID! The office manager/wife for the clinic uses dishonest billing practices, is disrespectful to patients & staff and interferes with patient care. I had been a patient here for years, while there I noticed the office manager berate and talk down to the staff as well as patients. She would also listen in to confidential information about patients and interfere while patient vitals were being taken by the trained staff. I liked Dr. Insaf, so I continued to be treated there. But the final straw for me was when there was a technical difficulty at the office that caused them to change my appointment and method of treatment. This change caused a coverage issue with my insurance, which made it so my insurance was not able to cover the charge. This was not communicated with me by the office and when I tried to discuss it with the staff or office manager, they were unwilling to negotiate. I also canceled my final appointment the day before was scheduled, and I was still billed a late fee.

I saw this practice for about a year. I waited to write my review because I wanted to see how it all played out and of course as everyone else is saying it turned out horribly. The doctor himself is good but he put me on so many meds and one specifically that almost cost me my marriage. It had horrible side effects that I was not warned about plus with my mental health and anxiety issues my primary doc told me that he woulve never put me on that knowing my conditions. Also, there is only 2 clinics that do suboxone therapy in Branson and I cannot recommend either one. After I lost my whole life, was broken mentally, financially and emotionally I went to the other doc dr Weber and he denied me treatment due to the crap that the emo logic clinic said after sending my records. I think its possible we all get together and see our legal options at this point with so many others with the same implications. My life was literally ruined by this office. And from what I'm reading others feel the same. Tort lawyers where are u at? They charge people outrageous fees just because they can. Its extortion and what happened to me personally along with others this place needs to be shut down. Dont go!!!

Started out strong and I can see where he helps some people, but he eventually would not listen to me! He put me on a medication I had no business being on (per two subsequent psychiatrists), and when I complained about other medications that were causing impairments worse than the disease itself, he would not listen. The office is also mismanaged, as you can see from the other reviews. Give him a try, but don't hang your hopes here and be as disappointed as I was. And be prepared for the front office. Yikes!

Dude saved my life. I’ve been a patient since 2012 and I could fill this review with a million ways he is the best doctor ever. Unfortunately, as you will see in these reviews (holy crap going back SO many years) or possibly for yourself, his office manager (his wife) is the absolute worst. She talks down to the staff in front of clients, clients in front of other clients, she gives medical advice that she is not qualified to give since she isn’t a doctor or even a nurse. She consistently covers up mistakes and makes them, somehow, the fault of the patient (I am speaking for myself and several people that I referred to him over the years). For example meds are not filled on time and it’s either the pharmacy’s fault or the clients fault for not playing phone tag between the pharmacy and their office for weeks at a time. I’ve NEVER had to play this role at any other office. I don’t work for them, why am I doing the job of receptionist? Also, I feel like a person should get their meds on time, EVERY SINGLE MONTH. Instead it turns into a battle to the death where you have to deal with Shabana talking down to you and telling you the many ways it’s your fault that you don’t have your meds on time. It’s honestly becoming more stressful to be in this practice than it would be to go to a sub par doctor than to have to deal with the constant monthly drama. I actually get a sinking feeling in my stomach anytime I get a call from the office, if that paints any kind of picture for you. It’s too bad because Dr. Insaf is a miracle worker, but I’m constantly amazed that he is still in practice after the horror stories from other clients, practitioners that have left over the years, and what I’ve experienced myself. It’s just such a giant mess.

Dr. Insaf is a caring, compassionate psychiatrist

I was very pleased with this office and Dr. Insaf. I have suffered from depression and addition issues and was pleased. However, I just couldn't afford it any longer. I've been a patient for three years but not going any longer because of the drive to Branson and the cost. I never had any issues with the staff, overall everyone was very nice and helpful.

His wife who is the office mgr would not release our records. My primary Dr. did not agree with some of his recommendations. Crazy medicine suggestions and other bizzare things. Stay away unless you want to keep seeing him forever.

The response to the reviewer below that the office staff is always helpful says all you need to know about the staff - beyond rude. What service industry responds to a reviewer's comment that the reviewer is rude and unfair? I saw Dr. Insaf for several years at my own expense because my insurance plan did not cover his practice. However, when Dr. Insaf's wife was rude to my daughter, and my daughter explained that was probably why her blood pressure was high when they tested it (and it had never been before) that was the last straw. I have left the practice and my daughters have as well. Even my physician husband who always takes the side or at least understands the side of the physician's office or a hospital situation when I make a complaint to him about something, says this is a rude office. He says when he is waiting on me or our child he always hears the staff being rude to patients/clients. Dr. Insaf is very nice and extremely competent staying up on the forefront of the field. However, as the head of the office, the rudeness of the staff is within his control, and it is his responsibility. As you can tell from reviews going back several years, this has not changed. Furthermore, rudeness is an understatement! His wife is extremely rude and mean and makes you feel like a child in trouble in grade school! Too bad Dr. Insaf does not address and take care of this situation. I really worry about the patient's who already have insecurity issues, or fear of public places or issues dealing with the public and they have to deal with this totally unacceptable treatment before seeing Dr. Insaf. It is stressful enough for many to see a Dr. and talk about their personal/mental issues without adding dealing with his staff to the stress. P.S. The phone ringing when your "time is up" is also a very rude system!! P.S.S. Don't let them tell you your patient records and your right to receive any of your test result records is not within their office policy to release if you leave his practice. Office policy is irrelevant. There is law that dictates what records are required to be provided to the patient. The office cannot make their own policy . . .

I have been under Dr. Insaf's care for 3 years. Previously, I had struggled with depression and anxiety due to an underlying medical condition. Dr. Insaf performed a simple genetic test on me which indicated that I likely have ADD, which also confirmed his previous suspicions. By him addressing this issue, as well as the depression, and adding a few medications to my regimen, I've been able to cope with my daily struggles and have felt better than I had in a long time! I've had a few bumps in the road since starting my treatment, but Dr. Insaf has been wonderful about making the right medication adjustments to get me back on track! I can't thank him enough for all he's done to help me! He and his staff are great!

I have had severe depression for 30 years. Dr INSAF did a quick gene test- swap of mouth. Found out SSRI would not work for me because I was lacking transport gene. Put me on MAOI and have had no depression problems since! I feel wonderful for the 1st time in 30 years! I cannot thank him enough.

I was put on Klonopin for four months and wanted off. I was given Xanax and about two weeks to pull off. I ended up in the hospital for a week. The staff would not work with me. His wife needs to square up. She is a nightmare. You simply cannot be pulled off of benzos this quickly. It is life threatening. I am a very healthy young woman and am still in recovery after three months.

The office staff is always friendly and outgoing. I am always greeted by name. It is nice to go to a place where people remember you and make you feel welcome.

Dr. Insaf is the best psychiatrist. My life is so much beautiful because of his treatment and counselling.

Dr. Insaf is a very good psychiatrist. That being said, I cannot recommend him due to his terrible wife who runs his office. She is incredibly rude, uncaring & will not listen to anything you have to say. DR. Insaf has been made aware of the problem but has done nothing about it. It IS a BIG problem. Dr. Insaf opted out of Medicare several months ago without informing any of his patients until 4 months later. He is now billing his Medicare patients for the full amount for these visits, which is a large amount, even though he neglected to inform us that he was opting out. According to the APA, the first thing that a doctor should do when opting out of Medicare is to inform his patients in writing. They even provide 3 sample letters. Dr. Insaf's office failed to notify any of his patients. I had to talk to his wife to try to explain that this was wrong. Don't even bother. She won't listen to anything a patient has to say. As usual, she was incredibly rude. You are forced to deal with her. Dr. Insaf is ultimately responsible for how his patients are treated by his staff. He MUST know by now that his wife is the problem but he continues to let her run his office. His office staff are too afraid of her to say anything to her or him. So, even though Dr. Insaf is a good psychiatrist, I would highly recommend that you go elsewhere for treatment. Until the office is run better it's just not worth the trial & tribulation.

When you tell this doctor how you feel, he can tell you what neurotransmitters and what chemicals are causing your feelings and reactions. That's how good this doctor is!!!!

I have nothing but bad things to say about this facility. The office staff are the absolute worst. They could careless about the well being of patients they just want your money. They just want to fix everything with medication. I don't see how this place is still in business.

Dr. Insaf is very knowledgable and has helped me tremendously. He's Been very caring and has shown deep concern for my well being. I feel better after seeing him a few times than I have in years. Most of his office staff are very nice. The red haired girl at the check in desk is always welcoming and friendly but the older woman at the check out desk can be rude at times. Overall I would highly recommend this doctor and his office!
