Dr. Stephen Kent Burger, MD

I was referred to this Dr by another one of my Doctors. His staff is friendly but very un organized. Dr Burger introduced himself but had no interest at all why I was referred or my prior history. He was more concerned talking about how he knows my prior Dr and he was too busy disrespecting another Dr of the same field. No bed side manners at all. Don’t waste your time

Like I said - What a HUGE waste of time. It was over 45 minutes late when he finally got to my room. Then proceded to act like I was impending on his lunchtime! I went to him to find out about my seizures and neuropathy and all he could say was, "There's nothing I can do for you. Have a nice day," and proceeds to walk out the door as I'm continuing to try and tell him all my symptoms. Then has the audacity to charge $499 for no service at all. I called our insurance to charge fraud as this visit was not a visit at all since he left before I even got to tell him most of what I went there for. I would not go there again if he was the last Dr anywhere. He should lose his licence for stealing insurance money and risking people's health!

Told me I was making up my symptoms and put me on an antidepressant. Got a second opinion from Wash U and ended up needing brain surgery because, surprise! I wasn't faking it ?? Dont waste your time

Office does not follow up and does not return phone calls. Dr. is not accessible. Examine room wait time is 45 minutes, to spend less than 10 minutes with patient. Was suppose to set up additional test, but he never did. Tried to contact the office they never returned phone calls. Does not have an exchange for after hours emergencies or for days when the office is closed. Terrible experience with this Dr. with situations that are life and death.

Wouldn’t recommend this doctor's office if he was the last doctor on the planet and you were dying, because you won’t get a call back before you’re dead. It's been just shy of 3 weeks since my original appointment and I've been leaving voice messages this entire 3rd week with no reply! All to just schedule my MRI and MRA which is clearly not important to them. I called my primary doctors office that recommended him to send me to a new doctor. They did try and call Dr. Burgers office 3 days in a row and Dr. Burger's staff is apparently too good to even call them back .... and they're the ones who are referring their patients to them! If you actually need to see a doctor, don’t waste your time. I would have given this a 0 star rating if it would of allowed me.

Experience was good overall, and the doctor did identify part of a problem and gave prescription for that, but had no answer for other issues.

This entire staff and the doctor have been wonderful. I would highly recommend them.

I haven't even gone to see this doctor because I have been unsuccessful in making an appointment. I called and got in touch with someone after a day. She told me the new lady that handles new patient appointments would call me back. It's been about a week, and I have not received a call. I've tried calling at least 5 times myself, and all I get is their recording. I've left messages, even saying that I'd have to seek out a different doctor is they didn't call me back soon, and they still didn't call me back. I guess they have all the patients they need. And based on the other reviews, they don't appreciate the patients that they have. Too bad. I'll be looking for another doctor.

The Doc shared/imposed personal political views with me which dominated the conversation v. discussing the medical issues that brought me to his office.

The worst experiences I've ever had with a physician. The waits are always excessive (hour to hour and a half or more after the appointment time). I've sat in the exam room and waited while I heard him stand in the hall and have lengthy chats with his staff about restaurants, even after he was running way behind schedule. This man has absolutely no respect for his patients' time. Also, during one of my appointments, he brushed off my questions, then rushed me out of the office after giving me a prescription for the wrong medication! Save yourself the trouble and see a neurologist in the city. There's a reason this man is the only neurologist in the metro area without a long wait to get in.

Dr.burger is a great guy. He is always pleasant and a great listener when it comes to my medical condition. The only problem I have ever had is when I call to update my seizures, it is nearly impossible to get them on the phone. They have no way to leave a message and when they say they will have him give me a call, I have to call up there again, about 13 times or more. I've also had the desk ladies "look at my chart" and they try to tell me about my doses and condition. They are not my neurologist. Definitely needs a better staff and phone service

First - making the appointment - I called more than a handful of times to only receive a message to call back later. Each time I'd call back, I'd get the same message. I guess when I finally reached someone, I got lucky. When I went in for my appointment, the lady who verified my info was very polite...no issues there. I waited in the lobby for about 15 minutes before being taken back to an exam room. The nurse/medical assistant who took me back had zero personality. She was going over my medical history with me, but I could barely hear her & she was talking very fast, which made her hard to understand. When she was finished, she told me Dr. Burger would be right with me. An hour & 15 minutes later, he decided to show up for my appointment. He really didn't want to hear anything that I had to say.....the few things I did mention, he immediately dismissed. I brought up past symptoms, along with family history & current symptoms; all of which were brushed aside. He gave me a prescription & told me to follow up in 90 days. The ONLY reason why I went to this guy is because my primary care physician referred me to him. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. I believe I will be seeking a second opinion from someone else.

If he has all this experience, he needs to share it with us!! He rushed me right out of the office and told me to keep taking my medicine without even asking how i was doing, if symptoms are worse/better, nothing. I want to see another neurologist.

The second time I seen the doctor, while waiting in the examination room, I overheard the good doctor and his staff talk badly about and mock another patient. I was very embarrassed for this unknown person. I believe that patient was in the next room. If I overheard it, I'm sure they overheard it. It was very unprofessional and I was thoroughly disgusted. My opinion of the doctor and his staff has greatly decreased by their lack of immaturity.

Extremely rude receptionist. Bedside manner is poor. Has to be reminded to share results with patients. My father has had ongoing chronic pain and it is obvious he holds little to no priority at this office. They can't figure out what's wrong and have not been helpful in any way with help to ease the pain. His pain level is off the charts and it seems like the doctor could care less. I am not impressed. When your dad is in tears, is huffing and puffing, and hits a wall due to the pain... you know there is a problem. Thanks for nothing, doctor.

A friend of ours recommended Dr. Burger to us when my husbands neurologist moved out of state and we needed a new one. We could not be happier! What a warm, kind, considerate human being! His staff is just as caring and kind as he is. We have been seeing Dr, Burger for 7 years now and will continue to always doctor with him. I just made my husbands follow-up appointment and it was very easy and convenient. I was glad he is closer now!

I have been a patient of Dr. Burger's for years. I had no problems with service or staff until his recent relocation to Edwardsville. The phone rings and rings and rings. Even if you get voicemail, NOBODY calls back and the fax line does not work.... HELP

Wonderful doctor....HORRIBLE office staff....spent all morning trying to make an appointment, only getting a busy signal. Finally I get through during my lunch hour and surprise surprise office is closed for the day and you can't leave a message. My suggestions....(1) put the phone back on the hook so you can do your job (2) take a leap forward so that patients can schedule their appointments online (3) let patients leave a message...heaven forbid you must listen to us, then write something down on paper. If I didn't think so highly of Dr. Burger and have a decade long relationship with him already, I would find a new neurologist ONLY because his staff is so unfriendly and unprofessional.

I would never recommend anyone to go see Dr. Burger. I wasted over an hour waiting on him and he came into the room and seemed as if he could careless about why I was scheduled to see him didn't even ask about what was going on or what problems I am having. Do Not waste your time coming to see this Dr!
