I just had my 4th lower joint replacement done by DR Stephen Murphy. It has been just 3 weeks post surgery and I feel almost back to normal. After every surgery I healed quickly and never needed to take narcotic drugs for pain relief after leaving the hospital, I took Tylenol for the discomfort that wasn’t really pain. I am 75 years old and was a little out of shape as I had limped for 6 months pre surgery. Even so I am healing very quickly.

With 3 - 4 weeks I was nearly back to normal. I was often in the hospital only 1 - 2 nights. I might mention I am not an athlete in tip top condition but an older person in average shape. He also explained the surgical process well.

Dr. Stephen Murphy performed my THR surgery at his outpatient clinic and as an athlete I asked Dr. Murphy if I could go back to my active lifestyle. Dr. Murphy said I would have no restrictions and to listen to my body as I recover and rehabilitate. Dr. Murphy did an excellent job and I am back to about 90% five months post op and am very excited about continuing my active lifestyle.

Went to Dr. Murphy for two consecutive hip replacements, first the right and then the left. His less invasive surgical method ensured a quick recovery each time.

Dr Stephen MURPHY is a terrfic surgeon ! He is exacting and gets results. His computer guided technique WORKS!!! My total knee repkacement was very successful. . Don't get me wrong -- It is painful and a long re-hab, though I was walking the day after surgery... People write that he is not all cuddly. Saw for consultation. Very cold and distant demeanor. Hardly spoke to me. Got diagnosis wrong. Spent minimal time with me. Waited 3 1/2 hours in waiting room. Obviously doesn’t care about how his practice is managed. May be a good surgeon but don’t expect a good doctor- patient relationship.

Dr Murphy replaced my hip and knee. Prior to the knee replacement, I had 5 prior knee surgeries from an injury while playing college football. I had my left hip replaced first. He did such a excellent job replacing my hip, I had him replace my right knee. It was the first time in 40 yrs that I had no knee pain. I was able to play golf 5 wks after both replacement surgeries. Every time I am asked who did my surgeries, I highly recommend Dr Murphy. I have referred 7 people, now 8 to Dr Murphy. He is by far the best orthopedic that has treated me.

Dr. Murphy has performed my right hip replacement and in a short time I have been almost back to normal. This was the most amazing surgery I have ever experienced, and though I am a senior citizen I have never felt better in years. He came highly recommended and was well worth the wait! His secretary is excellent. I am so grateful.

Who writes these reviews. Wait time at Dr. Murphy's is always over an hour. He may be a man of few words but he gets the initial job done. After that forget it. I know something went wrong in the OR. It's been 4 months since surgery and I have more pain now than I did before in my hip, knee, thigh and buttock. I've been back for follow-ups twice and still have pain. I don't feel like he's taking my post-op problems seriously. I'm tempted to seek out another orthopedic surgeon. Therefore, I'm up in the air as to whether or not, I would recommend him. Go for one visit and see for yourself. By the way, I had to pay extra for this special hip that's now giving me problems. And I also had my other hip done 8 years prior by anothe orthopedic surgeon and did not experience the pain I know have with Dr. Murphy's hip!

Stephen Murphy is a brilliant surgeon and chances are you will do well after surgery. He is more an entrepreneur or a business man than a doctor, selling his brilliant technique. I think that you are less his patient than you are his customer. Don't think that if he is following you with visits that you are his patient. He is a cold character.

Dr Murphy is by far an amazing surgeon. He replaced my Hip using his own minimally invasive technique with instruments he designed and has patents on. It was so incredible the night of my surgery for dinner I was up enjoying a delicious dish of pasta I went home the next morning and never had a pain. Truly a remarkable experience. When this surgeon goes into that operating room I swear God must flow into his hands head and heart. I'd had a previous hip replacement that was a nightmare performed with regular surgery. I cannot give higher recommendation for Dr Murphy. His bedside manner and love of what he does and how he helps people is just incredible.

I have had 2 hips replaced by Dr. Murphy. There is no one that could be better. Up and down the stairs in 3 days.......1 crutch after a week.......no crutches after the 2nd week. PT nurses were amazed when they came to see me.....I was so comfortable walking and moving around. You have to wait at least 6 months for an appt. so don't dally.. The wait is worth it ....can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Murphy and office manager Lisa!!

An incredible surgeon. I had my hip replaced by him and it was done minimally Invasive method. It was amazing. As my first hip replacement was a nightmare. Dr Murphys method. I never had one pain afterwards I went home next day n was able to care for myself as I live alone.

I had a hip replacement 18 years ago so I think his office made a special effort to get me in quickly and I was able to have total knee replacement surgery in less than a month because a cancellation came up. The swelling is minimal and I can bend the knee well in less than a week. New England Baptist is a great hospital as well with a super team of nurses and physical therapists. Murphy might well be the very best in Boston.

Dr. Murphy is a Master at his Computer generated surgery. My knee replacement surgery was a breeze. He is a great doctor. There is no waiting, when you arrive for your appointment. He greets you at the door. He is waiting for you!

The very best at hip replacements, mine was done 18 years ago and is still doing well. He makes himself available and is extremely reliable,
