Dr. Steven B Cohen

Dr. Cohen is the best surgeon ever. I've had 2 mishaps which he has skillfully fixed. He is kind, gentle and genuinely concerned for my well being. He always answers my questions and explains his procedures thoroughly. Not that I wish any ill will to myself, but should I need shoulder surgery again, I would run, not walk, to see him!

Dr. Cohen reattached my torn hamstrings 16 months ago. He did this so expertly, I have no problems what-so-ever and can do everything I did before the accident. I am forever grateful. He is truly a talented, knowledgeable and conscientious surgeon and I highly recommend Dr. Cohen and the Rothman Institute.

Dr Cohen did what no other doctor was able to do! I was born with lax ligaments and was a swimmer for 14 years. I hurt my shoulder when I was only 13 from swimming. For 12 more years I suffered in pain from misdiagnosis and every option used. No one could answer my questions or fix me. I originally saw Dr. Cohen for a second opinion when I finally decided surgery would have to be my next step. He blew me away with answering every question I had before I even had the chance to ask. Other surgeons caused me pain in the evaluation process but he understand my anatomy and never hurt me once during the evaluation process. His credentials were awesome and he was actually published in my rare posterior capsule instability diagnosis. I knew he would change my life and he has! He was extremely professional with a great sense of humor. His knowledge and skill put me at ease. One year post op and life is so much better thanks to him and the rothman physical therapy team! I cannot thank him enough!

Dr. Cohen was available on short notice and was able to get me pain free in a matter of minutes.

Dr Cohen, is a fabulous surgeon. Has a great bedside manner ! Explained the surgery and recovery time frame very well with my son. Always prompt for appts, has a great support staff! Would highly recommend him as an orthopedic surgeon!

Dr Cohen always spent enough time during appointments to answer my questions. My recovery after surgery has gone extremely well. Highly recommend this surgeon.

I was referred to dr.cohen by another dr. This was my first actual surgery and of course i was nervous, but he put that to rest the moment i talked to him. He explained in great detail what the process was, and we agreed on a couple other things about the surgery. Jump to post op and all i can say was wow. I experienced no pain at all and there is very minimal scarring if any...i would highly recommend dr cohen for any surgery that anyone needs to have. You wont be dissapointed.

I had an open quad tendon repair and have just started back to work after 4 months. I highly recommend Dr. Cohen

I saw this doctor today and had the worst experience of my life. I simply saw him for a consultation and walked away distraught, there is no way that I will trust my injury to him and be operated on by such an inconsiderate person. Appointments are very difficult to make, he was absolutely rude - acting as though I was creating a problem for him by being there!!! It was like pulling teeth trying to get information out of him. When I finally was able to get him to explain something, he said that the surgery that he would perform would not take away my pain, would not help me and will not be beneficial. First of all, how negative can you be? Second, why the heck would you do/promote this surgery if it does nothing??? I came to him for some kind of relief from my injury and I walked away terrorized by this so-called-doctor who has no manners or sympathy whatsoever!!!

I stumbled upon this review site while looking for a rehab publication. I am a patient of Dr. Cohen's. I could not let the one negative posting so easily affect his reputation. Dr. Cohen is the kind of caring, thorough doctor you want. It just so happens that I've had two surgical repairs performed by Dr Cohen. Both surgeries were done in my late 50's. He repaired a complete tear of my left rotator and he placed an alograph in my right shoulder as a result of a class 3 seperation (complete ligament tear). I went back to him this past week as I am now having pain in my right rotator from yet another mishap. The man is the best at what he does. He divides his time between 3 offices. Appointments are 1-1.5 week wait but remember, any doctor who is easy to see has no patients and is no good. The best have a full bench. Both of my repairs are as sound as could be with FULL recovery, optimum strength, and full range of motion. And although the man is a surgeon, he is not "surgery happy". After imaging on my right rotator, he diagnosed acute tendenitis and sent me on my way with a script for physical therapy... no surgery. I've been to see him enough times that I can say the lobby wait is usually 0-10 minutes, but you always have to take into consideration the fact that the man is a surgeon who treats major injury and if he has to spend a little more time with a patient you might wait a little longer. The man is caring and courteous. He spent a lot of time making me understand and answering my questions both before and after the surgeries. And I am healthy living proof of his surgical abilities. If you look him up under "sports medicine" you will see how many of our professional teams believe in him too!

don't think this group is so great just because they have lots of ads. always a long wait this doc spend some time but not much really did not show much interest in my child's pain level and how much it was effecting her life

Initial diagnosis was right on.- Surgery scheduled near future- Post surgery protocol for rehab was excellent- Post surgery visits were helpful to provide status of on/ahead of schedule- Post surgery questions were answered to my satisfaction- feedback on my PT progress was excellent as I was steered a few times to both relax and pursue other forms of PT (lifting overhead, 20 reps per exercise non straining, throwing program)
