Dr. Steven William Baak, MD

Haven't had a polymyotis flare up in 6 1/2 years! Prior to that I was constantly in the hospital & having physical therapy. Very glad CNE assigned Dr.Baak to me! Still have a lot of issues but they're under control for now. Couldn't be more grateful!

They do not care about their patients. Never have I experienced such unprofessionalism and lack of caring, and lack of knowledge on how to run a practice. One star is actually way more than what is deserved. In the beginning, I would have given 5 stars. Everything was great. But, then I experienced and found out the truth.....It's all about the money. As a previous poster stated, they refused to see the patient over owing $5.00. They will drop you as a patient in a heartbeat and leave you without medical care for something as small as owing $5.00 and other ridiculous reasons. You will see Dr. Baak on your first visit but not after that. All appointments after that will be handled by nurse practitioners. Unfortunately, Dr. Baak and his wife Julie don't have this practice to help people. It appears to be only a profit based business to them. Trust me, there are good Rheumatologists out there who truly care about, and want the best for, their patients, and have staff and managers who know the proper way to interact with patients.

Dr.Baak is a top rheumatologist in my book. After going to numerous rheumatologists over 20 years with no success, I was referred to Dr.Baak. At my first appointment he knew exactly what the problem was. He also explained thoroughly why the other diagnoses I’d been given weren’t correct. After he ran a series of blood tests and X-rays he prescribed medication that has helped manage my pain and immune system disorders. He’s a caring, compassionate & very knowledgeable doctor. His staff are all very kind & compassionate too. I never have to wait long to get in to see him. I’m so thankful I was referred to him.

While accompanying my terminally ill daughter to her apt, Dr Baak did not wear a mask saying he was vaccinated and would not speak to my immune compromised daughter unless she took off her mask. She is unable to get vaccinated due to her varied serious medical conditions. He then told her he wanted her to take an injection therapy drug, a drug another Dr ( who Dr Baak referred my daughter to) has told her never to take due to her year long reaction to an injection of humira perscribed by Dr Baak. When I told him this, he spoke badly about the Dr he referred us to, and my daughter's whole team of Drs. Then he said I've had enough, got up, tore my daughter's paperwork up that she had painstakingly prepared, threw it in the trash and left the office ending her apt. Walking out like a mad toddler. When the office mgr was called she became combative when I said I was worried that perhaps due to his recent brain tumor, he should be checked to see if he is fit for duty. I later learned his office mgr is his wife. We then received a mail notice saying she must find a new Dr, which we already were going to do after this unprofessional, embarrassing appointment. Beware.....this man has issues!

The Doctor and Physician Doctors, Nurses, Infusion Folks are the best here in the Midwest and St Louis!

My sister was a patient and tried many drug therapies. Nothing helped, her health deteriated she almost died and Dr baak laughed in her face when she complained to him. He works for pharma now. He no longer has compassion and what is best for the patient first.

Even during Covid they are all working giving the best RA care in St. Louis.

Friday I had an appointment to have my left hand injected. I have severe OA in my hands. Dr. Baak has always taken a sincere interest in my well being and this visit was no different. Dr. Baak always takes the time to inquire about how I'm doing, anything new he needs to know about and how treatments are working. I have always felt Dr. Baak genuinely cares about my arthritis and his treatment. Friday was 3 days ago now and before the injections, I couldn't open a jar with my left hand. Today, I can. Big THANKS to Dr. Baak and his entire staff for their professionalism and OUTSTANDING care. I am SO glad I found you!

I have been going to see Dr. Baak for a couple of years now and have always been extremely pleased with the care I've gotten. The entire staff is AMAZING! Friday, I went in to get injections in my left hand. Dr. Baak was with other patients, though he did take the time to check on me. The injections were done by the Physicians Assistant, named Briar, who did a FANTASTIC job. He had to do 3 different injections and all 3 went perfectly. My left hand hasn't felt this good in years. I have been seeking answers to my pain and fatigue on an doff for years. My internal medicine nurse practioner recommended I see DR baak because she is actually a patient of his to. I am so impressed with this doctor and his ability to listen to all my symptoms and I now have a diagnosis of mast cell syndrome which is a rare disease but now I am on treatment and feeling so much better. I did not know about Rheumatology as a doctor specialty until I went to him. I must say the office staff is without a doubt the best medical office people I have every come across. Grateful for dr. Baak.

Dr. Baak has been my Rheumatologist for 4 years. This year my insurance changed and the denied my infusion treatment. DR. baak went above and beyond by writing letters an his staff stayed on the phone with me and UHC for over 2 hours until it got approved. I am so great full for this office and for DR. Baak

On my one and only visit Dr. Baak started rubbing my hand in a sexual manner. I moved my hand and he started to rub and touch my arm. While speaking on medication he made several comments about getting my hands better so I could sexually take care of my husband. He then stated how pretty I was and how old he was. I tried to bring the conversation back to the medication when he told me that I could not get pregnant on the medication, my response was not a problem, his response was how will your husband feel about that? Then oh it’s okay as long as you still perform the act. I at this point am mortified, shocked. I spoke with one of the techs and was told she has had many complaints from woman about his sexual harassment. I left and within an hour this creepy person called me to say he was sorry about his silliness. I told him that it was not silliness it was sexual harassment. You don’t touch someone and make many comments about sex with my husband. I hung up. Please do not go here.

amanda doctor baaks nurse helped me get my treatment by dealing with my insurance company. i was so upset and crying when i came into there office and she got on the hpone with them and fixed it all.

Dr. Baak, thank you for your empathy, knowledge and compassion. Your entire office experience is exactly what healthcare should be. As a Nurse Practitioner myself I am grateful for your ability to put all my symptoms together and look at me as a human and not just another patient. It has been so difficult to push through each day for the last year and a half and the random medical situations that have occurred in my life that have made me feel crazy. The impact you have had on my life after one visit has been substantial. Thank you thank you!
