Dr. Dean's care helped me avoid shoulder surgery. To date my pain is still very moderate and my range of motion very good. My visit was 4 years ago. Thankful that I was referred to him and all that he did in my behalf. Deborah

Dr. Dean has done bilateral knee and now hip replacement for my husband. I don't know who some of these reviewers saw, but Dr. Dean is an excellent surgeon and personable, professional to the highest levels, doctor. We would highly recommend him to anyone experiencing pain. We have the highest regard for his nurse as well. Very informative with quick response!

Wife had severe knee pain for a while. She was referred to Dr Dean. After two MRIs, he told us she tore her meniscus and needed surgery. He performed the surgery. After a month, the pain was still there, he gave a few off the wall suggestions but seemed to push her out the door. We finally went to our family doctor, got a new MRI, there’s more damage, did he miss it, did he ignore it, did he cause it with lackadaisical aftercare? We’re going to another orthopedic doctor to try to get her knee issues resolved.

I was referred to Dr. Dean after having a horrible experience with my first doctor. I was excited about a young orthopedic surgeon that seemed ambitious in his practice. Everything was going great until his Nurse/Scheduling Nurse got involved. She was impossible to get ahold of! They were supposed to schedule a procedure and that did not happen for almost 2 Weeks. I left 3 voicemails and never got one call returned until almost 2 weeks later. His nurse claimed there was something wrong with their “system” so she couldn’t receive voicemails. IF YOU WORK IN A DOCTORS OFFICE AND CANNOT ACCESS VOICEMAILS THAT IS A HUGE PROBLEM! I hate leaving this bad review for Dr. Dean but due to his staff I cannot ever recommend him as an orthopedic surgeon.

After accompanying my Mother-in-Law to her follow up appointment for potential pre-operative revision hip replacement after previous fracture, I was completely alarmed by the unfulfilling bedside manner of Dr. Thad Dean, D.O. I was saddened to find out how irritated he appeared to be on his second visit with my Mother-in-Law regarding the questions she had about her revision left-hip replacement post fracture. He seemed agitated and unwilling to answer our questions even though it was our second appointment to discuss surgical intervention. I have never been asked in any Dr appointment “Why are you asking these questions again when I’ve already told you on your last visit”. FYI...Her previous appointment was 3 months ago. It was also disconcerning that his MA came into the room immediately proposing potential surgery the next Friday without even asking why she presented to the office that day. She actually presented with a new complaint of the opposite knee after the fall at home. Our family wanted to make sure that her right knee was stable enough to withstand the proposed surgery from Dr. Dean. Upon X-ray of the contra-lateral knee, after asking for correct views from the x-ray tech, it was presented to us that the right knee was stable even though she had zero stability due to osteoarthritis (which we were aware of). Naturally, my concern would be if my Mom cannot ambilate weight on her “good leg”, how can this Phycian say he wants to do surgery when the contra-lateral leg is unstable. After researching and choosing to see Dr Dean based on a recommendation from a Dr who could not help her and referred her to Dr Dean, it was so exciting to meet with someone who could potentially help us. It was the most disheartening, saddening feeling I’ve ever had from any surgeon. He seemed agitated, irritated, and I felt he wanted to be done with the appointment ASAP. I personally have never dealt with a surgeon with such a bad bedside manner, and I’ve dealt with surgeons for the past 20 years in my profession. His office staff was less than professional, especially his MA. Upon leaving the examining room, we felt completely lost. Not one person directed us where to go, and no one was present in the hallway or anywhere else to tell us goodbye. What kind of place does this?!? We will not be back here. Having been an Orthopedic PA in surgery, I have never been more mortified by one’s unsympathetic attitude about our feelings. He seems incapable based on my personal experience to have a bedside manner that makes me want to proceed with surgery for my Mother-in-Law. We will explore other avenues. Dr. Dean, I will not be recommending your services to any of your hospital affiliates, private practice affiliates, or anyone I thought you could potentially handle. It’s apparent to us all that you don’t have the skills necessary to help our family.

Dr. Dean has a wonderful bedside manner! He is very thorough and answered any questions I asked. I recommend Dr. Dean to anyone that needs an orthopedic doctor!!!

I believe Dr. Thad Dean is a good "general" orthopedic surgeon for general conditions and he is easy to talk to. My situation turned out to be very complicated and I went to another doctor. I felt that Dr. Dean wasn't quite up to the task of dealing with my condition.
