Dr. Garvy is a very kind, compassionate and highly skilled and respected spine surgeon. I have had neck and severe shoulder and arm pain for about 6 years. I had gone to multiple shoulder and neck surgeons, neurologists and pain management docs who were stumped about my pain. Steroid injections, pain meds, PT, chiropractic care and acupuncture didn’t work. I eventually started seeing surgeons again since my pain worsened. I wanted more opinions so I saw 4 surgeons. Dr. Garvy gave me an extensive exam compared to what 2 of the 4 doctors did. After reviewing my MRI he came to the conclusion that neck surgery would be a good option if I chose to have it done. Two previous surgeons felt the same way and Dr. Garvy cemented the recommendation. I feel very confident about Dr. Garvy and would not hesitate to have him do my neck surgery. I was very pleased with my appt. He was a 2nd opinion for surgery. He explained and reviewed my MRI, listened to me explain my pain. He did an exam and then made his recommendations for a spinal decompression. The 1st surgeon recommended a spinal fusion (Anterior/posterior). I liked his caring bedside manner. Clinic ran on time and everyone was very pleasant.

Dr. Garvey has always treated me with respect, listens to me and makes me feel like I matter. Spine issues are a scary thing, I trust him so fully it calms my fears. He is amazing and has saved me once before!

I saw Dr. Timothy Garvey in 2012. He was told to address 4 separate issues in my back from my MRI. In his quest to do more back surgeries in a day, he didn't do 2 of the MRI issues and left me a chronic pain patient...then basically threw me out of his office on a post visit when I asked him why he didn't do all the MRI told him to do! This guy butchered me with a God complex, a huge ego and an extremely poor bedside manor. After my surgery he was walking down the halls telling everyone what a great job he had done! I tried to sue him but the Twin Cities Spine Center own all the large law firms! BEWARE!

In 2012, Dr. Garvey performed a fusion lower back surgery on me. The MRI told him to address four issues but he only did two! Against the advice of my Duluth Orthopedic doctor, Garvey did the fusion, cleaned out my compressed nerves at the bottom of my spine but left two compressed nerves, and stated later that he didn't think they were important! We had words as I looked at his wall and read the Hippocratic oath and asked him if I understood it to mean that he had the power to make me a chronic pain person for the rest of my life but showed absolutely no responsibility to take care of the botched work he performed. He smirked and said yes and told me to leave and find a pain pill doctor! God see all and I hope and pray that this monster feels what he did to my life someday. In my 65 years of life I have never run into a man with a larger ego. My surgery shows his ego to be much larger than his talent. And BTW, forget the bedside manner as the rest of the world is sub-human compared to him!

Dr. Timothy Garvey performed 3 very important surgeries on my neck since I had a broken neck. He was highly competent and skilled. I've recommended family and friends to him as I totally trust him. I found out today I need spinal surgery on my lower back now and Dr. Garvey is the only one I'll ever let operate on me.

Dr. Garvey has helped me and my wife. She would have been in a wheelchair with out him. Diagnosed and repaired issues that took 15 hours for surgery. The VA diagnosed my neck pain incorrectly, Dr Garvey found the problem did the surgery and saved possible complications. The best

Too agressive with surgery - very clinical

Very disappointing and frustrating. Had all my records/scans with me and all my paperwork filled out and still waited 1/2 hour before being taken to exam room. After seeing 2 other people and and waiting almost 2 hours in between, Dr. Garvey finally came in and with another person and gave me less than 10 minutes of his time. He looked at my scans, asked a few questions, and told me what he thought. He didn't really explain my situation or answer my questions. He said I wasn't a candidate for surgery, which was good, but he didn't tell me what else I should do...just come back if the pain becomes so excruciating I can no longer live with it. He made me feel like I wasn't in enough pain to be seeing him, and I was wasting his time. He couldn't get out of the room fast enough. I can't speak to his intelligence or skill, but I thought his bedside manner was horrible. They warn you when you make the appointment that you should expect to be there around 2 hours. Why does that have to be the case? The whole check-in, exam, and results took about 25 minutes. Why do they feel it is ok to make people sit around for 2-1/2 hours? Would never recommend Dr. Garvey or this clinic. I would give 0 stars on these answers if it would let me.

Dr. Garvey is an outstanding doctor, he is knowledgeable in his field, both compassionate and a superior surgeon in every way. I just can't say enough good about him. He is also the first Dr. I have seen over the years that has knowledge of post polio issues. If you need any kind of back surgery this is the best Dr. for the job.

This is one of the kindest doctors I have seen in the Twin Cities. I have had an ongoing illness for 3 years and he took the time to review all of my records and pull everything together for me. He is setting me up for all of the appropriate follow-ups, and will treat the problems I have with my lower spine that were not picked up by the other doctors I have seen. He is very compassionate and I am very grateful to have seen him.

Dr. Garvey is one of the most professional doctors I have ever has the pleasure to deal with. His knowledge is superior and he has done surgery on me twice. Both with excellent results. One would be fortunate to have him as their doctor. He is very straightforward and does not pull any punches. And yes, sometimes you have to wait for him but, it is well worth it!
