Dr. Viren D Desai, MD

I have seen in before annually for past few years for Pain Management for Chronic Back Pain. He administer Radio Frequency Ablation. I found him nice and funny with his cultural music playing in background and once you start to talk to him he opens up. But patients need to understand with many patients to seen in a day it is hard to really get to know the Doctors.

Very poor bedside manner. Just uncalled for rudeness to his staff as well as patients.

The pain clinic has advised me well on treatment options and ha made my back pain tolerable

I was under the care of Sheila black andi said I just wanted her and not dr desai and yet I went for appointment and he cam ein the room ,he does not listen to you and he was out of the room in 3 mins.the care was not good and black sent me to the er at cape fear hosp and I got a urine infection while in the hosp and was left in tachycardia for hrs, and I tried to talk this over with him and he walked out and wouldn't listen to me. then I told them I would take this further and I get a letter in the mail saying they are letting me go as a patient, and they want to charge me 50.00 for a copy of my records. this is insane to say the lest. the staff there is very rude and talk down to you. they do labs and you have to keep calling them for the results and this is not a place I want to get care. you judge for yourselves. they don't seem to care about you at all.

He doesn't go out of his way to chit chat but that's what I like about him. He is politely direct and very professional. I recommend him highly.

I am a 77 year old woman. I have Degenerated disks in my spine. And this Dr. was horrible to me. I asked him for help and he said I can't give you a magic pill and He said you can try surgery, but I had a hip replaced about 2 years ago and vowed I would not have surgery ever again. When you get there they treat you like you sell your drugs or your an addict! He almost made me cry, my husband was in the office so he heard everything that he said. Going to find a better mannered, more helpful Dr.

Rude and uncaring. Rushed. VERRRRY Short on communication. Does not listen to patient concerns. Not responsive when trying to converse and share information with him. Does not communicate a diagnosis, planned care or options, or a reason he plans a type of treatment, etc. Patient is in the dark as he just plans and does whatever for whatever reason. ????? Who knows. You try to ask a question, he walks out.

I went to this supposed dr. in 2006, He is very rude & uncaring just wants your money. He doesn't want to help you get better. I was asked more about if I was selling my medicine than how I was feeling at every visit, even after seeing him for a year. Lucky I found another DR. who has treated me well for my RSD.

Dr Desai has a very poor attitude towards patients and actually except for the original appt and the neck injections (x 2) you don't see Dr Desai, but his PA who is very nice.Recently when scheduled for an epudidural cervical injection Dr Desai come into my area while the nurse was setting up my IV ... I am a really hard stick so she was taking her time ... next thing I knew Dr Desai has a tourniquet on the other are and was feeling around ... he then went to the site the nurse had just found, poked without checking and walked out. Assuming since he was in such a hurry they would come get me ... 20+ minutes later I went into the suite, Dr Desai was sitting on the counter, looking like he hadn't shaved in days, and the procedure was performed. When they took the IV out it was discovered that the fluid was going into the soft tissue of my arm and it was swollen twice its size. NEVER AGAIN!

I started seeing Dr. Desai in 2005. I have chronic back pain and desperately needed releif from the pain that I still have to this day. He treated me with several injections that never worked and changed my medications several times over the years that I seen him. I tried to explain my symptoms many times and he would always come up with an excuse such as, you have degenerative disc disease, arthritus, etc., and would schedule another injection. After several visits to his office he would always ask if I had back sugery. And I would tell him each time, "NO". He also gave me valium without looking at my prescription list he had on file which included xanax. I did not know that they were in the same medicine family until my family physician instructed me. My opinion is that this place is a money pit. He may have helped some patients but for me, I am dependent on narcotic medication each and everyday with the same symptoms.

He has the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced!

Might be a good surgeon, but his bedside manner and lack of compassion negates all that surgical expertise.

He will not take his time to understand your stituation and he is very rude. I had him, and he made me cry, uncomfortable. When he did the injection my back, instead of me waiting 30 mins afterwards, he sent me walking right away! He did not even check to see if i was alright or anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very pleased with this doctor. Once he gets to know you he is a wonderful caring doctor. He is quiet when you first meet him but after a year I find him to be very knowledgable and has a warm sense of humor. He has always had my best interest and I plan of staying with him. Thanks for all the extra care. The office staff could use a few more happy faces but there are a few there that make it worthwhile.

At first Dr. Desai has a rough outer skin, but once he knows that his patient is for real and not chasing for drugs, he is a great doctor. You just need to be patient. He has been my doctor for 2 years and gives me the meds I need not want.......

I would not go back to this doctor if he was the last one on earth. He came in the room spent less than five minutes with me and then went to walk out after he told me there was nothing he could do for me. I asked him a question exact words were may i ask you a question do you know what it is like ot live in pain everyday and some days waking up not being able to move he tells me that he is not going to argue with me and that i need to leave his office that there was nothing he could do for me i suffer from fibermyalgia and soem other conditions along with possible ms
