Dr. Wendell John Courtney, MD

Dr Courtney and his staff are amazing. He has delivered all 3 of my children and personally seen me through 3 extremely painful miscarriages. He doesn't sugar coat things and I appreciate that. I need an excellent, knowledgable Dr, not a new best friend. I have always felt I could trust and depend on his nurse, Vicki. They are a great team and I would recommend anyone who is looking for a Dr to give him a chance.

I had ovarian cancer and he caught it and arranged for all treatment. Saved my life.

I would recommend him to anyone. He is honest and direct with you. I have had to deal with a cancer diagnosis and he really helped me. I am cancer free. I am 69 yrs old.

I have been going to Dr. Courtney since about 2002, I had just moved to The Villages and was 56 years old and had suddenly started bleeding, I had no OB and called his office, they took me right in. I needed a hysterectomy, something my previous OB had neglected. He was fabulous, and a year later he did a bladder suspension. I go to him every year, and his office staff has always been courteous and professional as well as friendly. He does speak softly, but does not mumble and he spends plenty of time with you, as well as explains everything.

I would never go back to this guy again. He first sat me in his office and lectured me for 20 minutes about smoking. I'm not an idiot, I know smoking is not good for me. But as I tried to explain my progress on cutting back to about 5/day he offered no encouragement...just kept lecturing and telling me about people he knows who died. Maybe he thinks I don't have a life outside his office but I assure you I have better things to do than to be in an OBGYN office for over an hour and a half! I felt extremely uncomfortable during the PAP too. Very cold and uncaring. He never said a word. It was unsettling to say the least. After that he started up again on the smoking issue. Maybe he should quit his profession and become an advocate for smoking. It was most irritating. he had a very strange demeanor too.... very creepy man is all i can say!

To All Whom Are Truly Concerned, Please at all cost stay far away from Dr. Wendell J. Courtney and his entire staff as they are by far the most incompetent unprofessional s that I have ever had the great and unfortunate displeasure of dealing with and to close this, if you ever want to be unbelievably scared out of your skin waiting on your PAP or lab results to return than by all means do in fact use this Disgraceful Three Ring Circus, as the Doctors complete brainless staff will unbelievably leave a so-called very important message on your voicemail stating that you need to call them ASAP in regards to your follow-up appointment and not the Lab results, as those you need to make numerous phone calls and pull teeth to get. Hoping I helped many stay away from this Disgraceful Clown and his Pure Brainless inept Staff. Sincerely yours, AD

I have been seeing Dr. Courtney since 1997. He delivered all 3 of my children. All i can say is that he is AWESOME and his staff is great. With my first delivery back in 2000 i was very scared and was having a few complications i needed an emergency C Section., Dr Courtney completly explained everything in detail to me and eased my mind. my delivery went great and he was right there explaining everything to me. My other 2 deliveries went just as well. He has an amazing personality and is such a Great Dr. I do recommend Dr. Courtney to my family and friends for any OB or GYN visit needed. Now I need surgery and i wouldnt have ANYONE else do it, i trust him with my life.

I am 70 years old. i have been a patient for over 20 years. Dr. Courtney is the most compassionate DR. i know. he took me even when he didnt accept my insurance at no charge. THIS IS UNHEARD of. today he gave me the good news that i didnt have a prolapsed bladder as another GYN told me i did and is sending me for further tests for my bladder.

I had a great expierence at this Dr.s office, The staff was awesome and the Dr. was very thorough, professional and had a wonderful bedside manner and took time to listen to me and my problems. i felt VERY comfortable with this whole expierence. The Dr. spent alot of time going over my options, i would recommend this office to ANYONE that needs the best DR.

Dr. Courtney is an amazing doctor. He is very thorough with his patients. He delivered my 3 youngest children and I couldn't have asked for a better OB-GYN. His staff at the office is absolutely wonderful, too. I love you guys!

I went to him recommended by a coworker. They were over booked and ran an hour late. He barely spoke to me and it was more at me. He rushed me into an exam and started doing a procedure before he telling me he was going to be performing it. He hurt me badly and when I told him how much pain I was in he completely ignored me. I work in healthcare and am educated to know that there were complete lack of professionalism and common curtesy. He may have good operating skills but he will not be touching me again. Seek out a different doctor.

For my first pregnancy, my care was great. For the second half of my last pregnancy,it was like I had a different doctor. A problem went undiagnosed that could have had tragic loss had I not been persistant. His bedside manner has never been great, but telling a patient that they were stupid and could not ask questions was way over the line. Getting into yelling matches with the staff at the hospital during a high stress situation and is also very unprofessional. Minimilazing a major complication so it doesnt look like a mistake was made on his part is yet again, unprofessional and could have had a lethal result.

Dr. Courtney delivered my daughter with a cesarean and the incision he made, is very small and hardly noticeable. I would definitely recommend him as your doctor!

DR.COURTNEY DELIVERED BOTH OF MY DAUGHTERS. MY OLDEST BEING BORN 7 WEEKS EARLY AND ONLY 4LBS 10 OZS. MY YOUNGEST BORN 3 WEEKS EARLY AT 5LBS 6 OZS. BOTH WERE BORN PERFECTLY HEALTHY AND ABLE TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL TWO DAYS AFTER DELIVERY JUST LIKE A FULL TERM DELIVERY. HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND KIND TO MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF. ALTHOUGH HE TALKED ABOUT THE FOOTBALL GAME WHILE BREAKING MY WATER HE STILL GOT THE JOB DONE AND MY DAUGHTERS WERE BOTH BORN HEALTHY. HE ALSO TOOK CARE OF ME WHEN I HAD A MISCARRIAGE BETWEEN MY DAUGHTERS BIRTHS AT WHICH TIME HE PERFORMED A D&C AND A LAPROSCOPY AND DIAGNOSED ME WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS. WHICH HE TREATED WITH THE LAPROSCOPY. NOW 9 YEARS AFTER THE MISCARRIAGE I CALLED THE OFFICE TO GET RECORDS OF THE ENDOMETRIOSIS FOR ANOTHER DOCTOR AND WAS TOLD THEY ONLY KEEP RECORDS FOR 7 YEARS AND THEREFOR THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO RECORD THEY COULD PROVIDE OF MY DIAGNOSIS. FRUSTRATED I ASKED IF THE RECEPTIONIST HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO NEXT AND SHE SUGGESTED I CALL THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE PERFORMED THE SURGERY. THEY KEEP RECORDS FOR 15 YEARS. SO EVEN THOUGH COURTNEY'S OFFICE COULD NOT HELP ME THEY LEAD ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR HELP. OVER ALL I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ALL OF MY FRIENDS WHO WERE IN NEED OF AN OBG/YN.

I have been seeing Dr. Courtney for 12 years. He, not the pediatrician, noticed that my son had problems the day after he was born. His bedside manner is not the greatest but as a nurse I can tell you truthfully you'd rather have an occasionally sarcastic doc who knows what he is doing than a smiling idiot!

This man has no place treating geriatric patients. He was visibly impatient with my mother, refused to speak so she could hear him. His staff ordered a very expensive device for her and it was not correct, did nothing to correct the problem. When he was unable to help my mother he THEN said he didn't have much experience with her situation and was very rude when I asked why he took the case at all then. VERY BAD DOCTOR and very rude man.

Dr. C took care of all 3 of my pregnancies, my last 2 were high risk and he was wonderful. my 3rd pregnancy was a difficult one and im so thankful to him, he did everything in his power to make sure my son was ok.

Dr. C delivered all 3 of my beautiful girls. During pregnancy 1 he was great, answered all our questions, kept us very well informed of things that should start happening with the baby and my body. Pregnancy 2 not so much, I was not impressed with his bedside manner or level of attention I received. By pregnancy 3 hang it up! The nurses were the ones I had to address all my concerns with. (She was wonderful) also his office mgr was pregnant at the time and very helpful, bit still not a Dr. Which I was paying to see and get my care from. My 3rd daughter was born with pulmonary atresia which should have been caught by ultrasound in the early stages of my pregnancy. Even after this oversight I continued to see Dr. C for my after care. I was diagnosed with HPV and had several biopsies and procedures to remove the cells from my cervix. ( after all this was the strain that caused the majority of cervical cancer) I received a call from the nurse stating the severity of my HPV had changed according to my last pap smear. When I got to the office for my appt I was told that I had an outstanding balance of $460 and would not be seen until it was paid. Seriously?!?! You lead a person to believe they have Cancer and won't see them over less than $500.... I was a loyal patient, been going there for 8 years and 3 pregnancie, and still went there after my daughter was born with a defect that should have been seen and possibly could have been corrected inutero. And they wouldn't see me over a balance I knew nothing about??? I assumed he felt bad for not seeing the heart problem with my little girl and was just billing my insurance.( seeing as I did not file a lawsuit like most would have done) Anyways I left that office with feelings of disgust. I consulted a new OB/GYN and come to find out I didn't even have HPV, or any signs that I ever had it. So here is my story I hope it helps!! God Bless

I have seen the worst of the worst, and I got to say several yrs ago when I first went to him he completely changed my mind of Drs. He did not deliver either of my children (unfortunately, he wasn't my doc then) but I had problems when I went to see him. After yrs of drs brushing the problems off Dr. C took care of it immediately. I was amazed! I don't have any problems talking to him and shows respect and compassion. I have noticed that the young man has a wicked sense of humor like mine so I think he great!

Some may feel his bedside manner is lacking... what do they expect, he's a doctor not your bff? I have had nothing but great experiences with this doctor. Even though I now live an hour and a half away, I still make the drive to see him. He is straight forward, always answers any questions, and is very knowledgable. I won't go anywhere else. The staff is phenomenal and always go out of there way to be helpful.
