Very prompt with my appointment. I met the doctor but was seen by the PA. I had gone in for injections in my knees. Very happy with the staff and their service.

A great visit yesterday. Appreciate the xrays and to know that having my knees replaced will not take care of my back pain. I feel comfortable now with shots for my knees as long as they work. Thank you!

I have been seeing Dr. Jacobson for over 15 years. He is not only an excellent orthopaedic physician and surgeon, he is easy to work with. He takes the time to fully explain my injury and what the treatment options are. The options have always included simpler and less invasive solutions to start with. He takes the time to answer my questions, and he has always left the decision to me. He replaced my right knee just over two years ago and I have been extremely pleased with the results. Return to full mobility, no pain and a real sense of ease and comfort. I'd recommend Dr. Jacobson to everyone.

Dr Jacobsen has great bedside manor and talks very well with patients. I have seen him before and if needed will return.

Very knowledgeable and helped resolve the problem

I saw this doctor for a lateral posterior meniscus root tear. The visit was ~ 5 minutes, with a nurse standing all that time by the doorway. Within those 5 minutes, the doctor told me that he would not repair the root, because it would not heal due to poor blood supply to the area. He did not say what type of tear I had and he did not mention the damage to articulate cartilage. Patient education = "0". Said I had "pretty good knees" and ... offered to remove the whole meniscus. Claimed that it would not necessarily lead to early arthritis. When asked, stated that cutoff age for meniscus transplant was 40 ( I fall in the 40+ category). He did not ask if or how this injury have affected my ability to make my living and my recreational activities. He did not refer me to PT, nor did he prescribe a brace for the knee that was unstable, clicking, catching, and had both the meniscal extrusion and traumatic damage to the articulate cartilage. In a short note to the visit made available to schedulers, he indicated :"Bracing options were discussed", which was an outright lie. The office staff is as bad as the doctor. Following the visit, as my pain and loss of ROM continued to increase, I made multiple calls, and even stopped by, trying to find out what injury-specific brace the DR. would recommend to protect the knee from further damage. After 2 weeks of no response, I gave up, cancelled the follow-up appointment, and went to UIHC,. There I was told that the surgery was not only possible, but indicated in order to preserve the meniscus; that the damage was in a well-vascularized area and prognosis for healing was good - I had found the same information through my research. In addition, I have not been able to get the clinical notes from the Jacobson visit., 2 weeks after. After signing a release and several calls to the records, I was getting promises, but no actual response. A staff member told me that this doctor often does not dictate his notes for the visit until 2-3 weeks after, because he has an "amazing memory". Overall bad experience and a total wast of time, that did not help my injury. I would not recommend this doctor for meniscus injuries to women in the 40+ age group, or to people on Medicaid. I am not sure whether it's the age group, the female group specifically, or the insurance that he discriminates against., but all the things that he told me were wrong, and with the way the office is run, I would be concerned about the post-op communication with the DR., should there be issues or complications.

My family has had a very good experience with Dr Jacobson. As with many people approaching 'middle age' my wife and I have both experienced aches, pains, and some injuries while staying active. Dr Jacobson, being an athlete himself, is very understanding of our situation. Dr Jacobson has a great rapport with patients and offered us various options regarding our situations. Dr Jacobson recommended the least intrusive activities first before moving on to more complicated procedures.
