Dr. William Bernard Rozzi, MD

I had a total hip replacement 2 years ago and I can not thank Dr. Rozzi enough. I went from severe pain to no pain in a few short months. My recovery time was much shorter than I was lead to believe and even though I am 72 years old I am the best I have been in 5 years. Then 6 months later I broke my leg and again Dr. Rozzi. The only thing he got wrong is when he told me I would have some problems because of the severity of my surgery and the broken leg. I have not had any discomfort. I'm lucky I had Dr. Rozzi for my doctor.

I like Dr Rozzi, he was clear with explaining my problem.

Had a knee replacement performed by this individual who did not even prescribe physical therapy, as a result I have excruciating back pain daily,

Words will never be able to describe how thankful I am for Dr. Rozzi. I was in an awful snowboarding accident at age 18 and was rushed to the hospital. My left arm was mangled and I was in excruciating pain. Rozzi rushed to the hospital (a family member of mine had used him before when she shattered her wrist, to which he also fixed FLAWLESSLY) and saw me right away. While I was very in an out of it (because of the pain meds he put me on) he was very straightforward, ordered x rays and prepared for surgery. It was thought that my arm had a large break and was dislocated (surgery time was estimated at 1 hour at most). However, the x-rays did not show just how bad the injury was. When he went in he found that the entire humerus was shattered into little shards and the lower half of my arm broke off entirely below the humerus. That man slaved away for hours on my arm, piecing it together with metal. When I woke up I did not know what to expect. I was shocked to find a large incision on my shoulder but he quickly explained to me just how badly I had broken my arm. Now, from the reviews I have read, he sounds like an "awful person", "rude", "condescending" etc. I feel that these reviews are incredibly false and are written by patients who are used to things being sugarcoated. Dr. Rozzi is straightforward with everything as he SHOULD be. He was never rude with me, he was very explanatory. It is extremely necessary that doctors do not sugarcoat things because in my case, if he hadn't, it is likely I would never use my arm again. He told me that it is highly possible that with the amount of breakage in my arm that the slightest bump or nudge of my arm could shatter it again (due to the tiny shards of bone not being able to support the metal and stay together properly). He told me in exact words, enough to scare me to TAKE CARE OF MYSELF that "if you damage your arm, it will fall off. IT WILL FALL OFF. Your bone could be classified as dust." Now, while many who cannot handle things not sugarcoated, this might seem rude. But, personally, I would much rather a doctor who is real with me and tells me as it is. Otherwise, knowing me, I would've done something stupid and shatter my arm again (in effect, forever trashing what good bone was left and never using my arm again.) So, for those reading this, take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. Rozzi has a dry sense of humor, which many people do not seem to understand either. He is a great man and is a miracle worker. He has been nothing but helpful and real, and he was ALWAYS friendly with my entire family, despite the "real talk". Additionally, a year later, my arm healed nearly completely, even though it was predicted I would never truly have full use (I DO!). All thanks to Rozzi. Though, due to my own stupidity and too much kickboxing, I shifted the metal in my arm. Rozzi performed a second surgery to remove the metal (since it moved and was no longer necessary since by bone meshed together again). The surgery was quick, nearly painless and I recovered VERY quickly. To speak more of his character, I will mention my scar. From every surgery I have seen that he has done, his incisions are flawless, clean and the scars minimal/invisible. However, because my body loves to show my stupidity, I formed keloid tissue on my shoulder (not under Rozzi's control, just my biology.) He was so concerned for me and my dislike of the scar that he even removed the tissue from the first surgery in an attempt to make the scar smaller (but my body doesn't seem to care what he does, if you don't know what keloid tissue is google it, theres no explanation for it). Since then, he has offered to try and minimize the scar in any way. Though, even being a girl the scar has never bugged me because it reminds me of the miracle work he performed with piecing my arm together. So, to conclude, Rozzi is a wonderful doctor and his hands are blessed. His bedside manner is completely appropriate and I will always value the doctors that are real with you. In truth, he is being safer and more responsible this way. I feel disgusted bythe people who say he is rude and mean. No, he is straightforward and unfortunately many people NEED that. Sugarcoating is dangerous, accept it. I hold Dr. Rozzi in the highest regards and would trust him with my life.

overall Dr Rozzi did a good job per my 2nd opinion HOWEVER his bedside manner needs to improve. On more than 1 visit he offers suggestion/treatments that he already did and had to be reminded that was done. Does not seem to understand or care of the problems after surgery or compassion for pain.

Dr. Rozzi is not trained in the Ponseti method of correction for Clubfeet, and still practices the old-school methods. His methods of treatment include frequent physical therapy, splints, casts, and surgeries. He could not guarantee a high long-term correction rate. My current doctor is Ponseti-certified and my son's clubfoot was 100% corrected within 5 weeks and he is expected to lead a normal life.
