Dr Wolfgang Fitz, MD

Dr. Fitz replaced my right knee this past January and I couldn't be happier with the results and actually with the whole experience! If you're in need of a knee replacement and are hesitating to schedule the surgery, call his office and do it! He's a superb surgeon with a team to match!

Dr.Fitz provided exceptional care and support throughout this process. Appointments were prompt and all my questions and concerns were addressed. Dr. Fitz has a great support team and I was so impressed with all of the procedures and available resources. After TKR in January, I am back to my daily activities and water exercise classes.

I had bilateral total knee replacements, 1 year apart. Dr Fitz is very skilled, thorough, competent and kind. His support team is comprised of experienced professionals, who are also skilled, competent, thorough and kind. The fact that his team is so respectful of Dr. Fitz speaks volumes about the quality of his work and his care. I highly recommend him, and highly recommend the customized Conformis knee. Dr. Fitz was one of the developers of this type of knee. With it, I have had very successful recoveries. And compared to friends who have had the one-size-fits-all type of knee, I have had less pain and easier recoveries.

Dr. Fitz performed bilateral knee replacements on me five months apart. Although most of my contact with him was virtual, his expertise and confident demeanor calmed my nerves and I felt in good hands at all times. I'd done my research -- actually my wife did -- and I knew he has one of the lowest complication rates in Boston. That is huge, to know your care will be skilled and competent. Although having two knee replacements is a fraught experience because it's not an easy surgery, I think my experience was about as smooth as it could have been, from the surgeon, to his staff and also Brigham Faulkner. I was able to go home the same day for both surgeries and the pain was manageable. Thank you, Dr. Fitz!

I just did a review, so where did it go?

In 2014 Dr Fitz replaced my right knee. In 2017 he replaced my wife’s left knee, and this January he replaced my left knee. All of the surgeries were performed meticulously and successfully! If my wife or I needed additional surgery in his field we would certainly see Dr Fitz.

Dr. Fitz is extremely thorough in his evaluation, explanations, and follow through with all aspects of his work, start to finish. His manner is warm and caring, and he exudes deserved confidence in his expertise as a surgeon. His Force program got me through two knee replacement surgeries the best way possible. I had two surgeries within 7 months. Both went smoothly and successfully.

Dr. Fitz was superb in all ways. My knee replacement went much more easily than I ever expected. The scar is healing extremely well. The communication between Dr. Fitz, his care team, and myself was excellent. I would highly recommend Dr. Fitz to anyone needing an orthopedic surgeon.

I needed a knee replacement for over 15 years and kept putting it off because I was totally terrified of having it done. Then I met Dr. Fitz. My first visit and all of my other visits except the actual surgery were virtual. He explained everything, particularly, the “Conformis knee replacement” and he answered all of my questions. I discussed my greatest fear with him and I felt much at ease and reassured about my decision to have him be my surgeon and do my knee replacement. Then I took the next steps and scheduled my surgery. Dr. Fitz is a very personable, kind, and thoughtful surgeon who truly cares about his patients. His approach to the healing process is very different than any other surgeons I met. Plus his surgery is impeccable and fantastic!!! I couldn't believe it when I woke up that I had a knee replacement. His entire team is incredible, from the nurses who do a cat scan or take blood, etc. His PA, Kelly Diloffi, is wonderful, easy to talk to, and answered all of my questions in my pre and post-surgery virtual visits, and my telephone calls with my questions. Benica, who answered the phone, and did the scheduling and connected me to Kelly when I needed to ask questions was amazing, too! At first I was a bit leery because all visits were being done virtually. Dr. Fitz and his team have this whole process down and do an excellent job with it and in fact save you time and energy. You don’t have to spend energy and time getting to appointments, getting in and out of your home, or cars because it is virtual. Under Dr. Fitz’s instructions, I took my own bandage off in my virtual post-surgical visit. It was so easy, like taking a band aid off. I can’t stop talking about Dr Fitz and recommend him to everyone I meet, to let them know that if they ever need a knee replacement he is the person to see. Thank you Dr. Fitz for my new knee which I love!

I am extremely pleased with my TKR using Conformis Technology. Not sure why everyone does not do this. Dr Fitz and his assistant Kelly were wonderful to work with during and after surgery. Brigham and Womens Hospital also a great facility with great organization and professionalism. I had a partial knee replacement done with Dr Fitz 13 years ago and waited through the Covid restrictions to see him for my recent TKR.I refer and talk about my experience with Dr Fitz to everyone that will listen. The best overall experience ever for a left TKR! Great pre and post surgery exercise program. Always had immediate responses from Physician’s Assistant. Conformis knee great as Expected. Fantastic surgeon! Lots of experience with Conformis and magic hands!

Dr. Wolfgang Fitz performed a left knee replacement eight years ago and just a month ago replaced my left hip. I am a 70 plus age male. Both operations were outstanding successes. My knee had deteriorated over a decade to a point that I could not walk to my mailbox without significant pain. I had run multiple marathons in years past. I had waited way too long to have it replaced. I conducted detailed research and sought opinions from three very well respected Boston based surgeons. One told my wife and I the knee was catastrophic and walking would require over a year of rehab. Dr Fitz's discussion  was clear and detailed. I had two total knee replacement surgeries performed by Dr. Fitz. He provided me with important information throughout the entire process beginning with the initial visit. before and after surgery and while rehabing. The quality of the surgery was excellent. I was provided with an excellent website to give me exercises.allow communication with Dr. Fitz and Kelly. As a result, my recovery has been excellent.

I saw Dr Fitz 2013,TKA valgus knee replacement that has nothing been short of a disaster.Crepitus,poor alignment and lack of kneecap space that has troubled me from DAY 1.HIS PA is his only communication via emails,does not deal with that.Three MD's told me do not let him scope you to fix it,Dr Fitz denied the lucency in both components,lack of PF space until a XRAY MD report away from his hospital stated so.He PROMOTES Conformis TKA because he DESIGNED them,mine was also OVERSTUFFED PF space via a out of state second opinion.FIND a different TKA MD!
