Dr. Yaoming Gu, MD

I have SO much respect for DR. Yaoming Gu ! He has the sincere compassion for my medical issues, takes the time out to listen AND to explain all and anything that I may need to know. I may be the patient but Dr. Gu has the patience-- Hard to find one like him. Thank you Dr. Gu!

See Dr. Gu once, then get put on the fast track $$ conveyor belt of PAs that don’t listen, are impatient w questions & value compliant submission over any self- advocacy. You don’t need the additional pain. Go somewhere else.

Dr. Gu’s staff called and canceled a nerve ablation 10 minutes before it was scheduled. Pulling in the parking lot, sedative taken for the procedure, time taken off work, etc. So disorganized that they hadn’t filed for approval with insurance. Hubby and I chased them for 2 months about the approval then gave up. At one (scheduled) appointment sat for 2.5 hours waiting for Dr. Gu. Wound up seeing a nurse practitioner who knew nothing about my case didn’t even make any suggestions for treatment. It was a complete waste of my time, and a $300 charge to my insurance company!.....Got a call out of the blue with admission that “their office had dropped the ball, ablation finally approved”. Procedure scheduled, but despite reminder that he needed the sedative to relax the muscles it wasn’t called into the pharmacy. Told by staff, “oh you really don’t need it”. Maybe they should have burning needles put in their back without it. Horrible experience and an expensive procedure that offered no pain relief.

Don't waste your money coming to this guy, his injections do not always work, he will never answer your questions and when pressed for answers, will get up and walk out. The first time I went there 2 years ago he prescribed pain medication. Every time I went back he asked if I needed a refill but I told him no; I didn't like taking it. This week I made an emergency visit because I couldn't stand the pain any longer. I could barely walk with pain sitting, standing and going into my foot and groin. He refused to give me anything. Just said they will check with my insurance on when they can do injections again. So I missed time from work, paid a large co-pay and left with no relief. I'm leaving these messages on every board I find. I'm so disgusted with his apathy.

I have Fibro no Osteoarthritis as well as other pain. I'm looking for another doctor because mine is not seeing patients. He spent 3 minutes in the office with me and then it was his nurse that said he wasn't going to see me! He couldn't tell me himself nor explain why! Not a very professional doctor!

Dr Gu has treated me for 7 months and has significantly reduced my level of pain

I have been seeing Dr. Gu for about 4 years and am currently looking for a new pain management doctor. I have only stayed this long because of his PA Emily, who is now no longer with the him, so I too am moving on. When it comes to getting injections in my back, with Dr. Gu it is truly a hit or miss kind of success. There are times it works, but many times it doesnt. Dr. Gu literally just has no compassion or understanding when it comes to how much pain I have suffered over the years. Ive had one spinal surgery already, and need to have a fusion, but financially I just cant afford to get it done at this moment. Dr. Gu started out prescribing a pain medication that worked very well for me and at a dose and amount that allowed me to function not perfectly but enough that I was able to continue to work. We have struggled to find a long acting that works to add to the short acting and he has decided to cut my short acting by half (2 a day from 5 a day) when this is the only medication that has worked very well for me. I have never asked for early fills, never claimed I lost a script, have always followed the amount i'm to take and never have taken more than allowed. He can not provide me with an answer as to why he is decreasing the ONLY medication that has given me somewhat of a quality of life for the past 4 years. Emily, understood and agreed that the amount I was on was working well and that there should be no reason for the reduction, especially when my most recent MRI showed that there was significant changes and in black and white proved the amount of pain I was in. When I heard Emily left, I knew it was time I left too and i'm in the process of fidning another Doctor. Dont waste your money coming to this guy, his injections do not always work, he will never answer your questions, but instead get up to walk out. He is very difficult to understand as his English makes it very hard to hear him. He will take what little is working for you away, and will not replace with something else. As a pain managment doctor, you would think he would know, you can not just take away a medication that someone has been on for several years and not put something else in its place, you would also think that dealing with people in severe pain, he would have some sort of compassion for what you are going through. In all honesty I do not think this is the right type of career for him and he should find something that doesnt require caring for someone who hurts.

I had been referred to pain management years ago but could not find many accepting new patients. The one I did find and go to horrified me when I saw the patients in the lobby, the filth and disorganization of the staff. Even being in severe pain I refused treatment and walked out. Fast forward through years of suffering to Dr Gu opening an office near me. They contacted my primary Dr. Asking if he had patients in need of their services. My doctor knowing what i had been through with other clinics said yes and referred me. Thank goodness the stars aligned to bring us together. I was able to get an appointment quickly and was very pleased from day one. The facility and staff are very professional and well organized. The lobby is not filled with drug addicts there for pain pills. It is the opposite of the usual pain management clinic. They offer many options and have methods of treatment far beyond stringing you out and keeping you coming back for pain pills. They have truly given me hope that I can live life again. This is a legit medical facility which I highly recommend.

Dr. Gu and Emily have helped me so much in managing my pain level on a day to day basis. I can't say enough great things about them and your whole staff. Thank you so much!
