Please do not visit Dr. Ross. He misdiagnosed a rare deformity on my pinky toe as fungus. when i told him "No, its a periungual fibrokeratoma" maybe because i am young.. or a female.. he didn't like being told he was wrong and took my diagnosis personally, which it wasn't. he has incredible hubris. he raised his voice and informed me that after i've attended medical school i get to call the shots, and that "you think you know everything but you are so young, you don't actually know anything." I asked that he not send the growth to the lab, because i didn't want to pay for a lab report knowing they can get pricey. he told that i had to get the lab report or he wouldn't help me, and was angry with me raising his voice again. when the lab report came back months laters, it showed that his diagnosis was wrong and mine was right. and it was expensive and needless. when he made the incision to remove my issue, he said that no matter if it was a fibrokeratoma or fungus, what he did would preclude it growing back. You guessed it - it grew back which reminded me about the worst experience i've ever had with a doctor and inspired me to pen this review.

I came in for surgical removal of two ingrown toenails and he performed excellent surgery that healed very well (where others had tried to fix the problem and failed). He was nice and generous with the pain medication, for those who care. On the downside, he can be a little brusque and I wish I didn't have to wait so long in his office from when I was ushered into my treating room to when he performed the surgery (45 min) but he did a great job and clearly knows what he is doing.

When I visited this Podiatry center in Bethesda, my experience was not so bad (at least my impression at the front desk). I thought the receptionist was very friendly but the doctor (Paul Ross) was arrogant...he did not give me as much information about my foot as I would have liked. He was defensive when I asked a question about the complications of surgery. I wish he could have showed more interest in helping me with my problem, but instead he brushed my question aside, as though it was not that important. I did not like that at all and I will not go back.

Not only did Ross miss getting out the Morton's Neuroma, he did not address the issue professionally. He simply said give it time and it will heal. He did not request follow-up tests to determine required to properly address the complaint. And then, he shot the foot full of cortisone in a failed attempt to treat the condition. All the while, he had no empathy for what was going on.

I consulted two podiatrists prior to seeing Dr Ross, one who performed bunion surgery without realizing that I had neuromas and hammertoes on the same foot which were contributing to my pain. After two surgeries (first bunion then neuromas on one foot) with that one, I looked elsewhere for someone more competent. Dr. Ross was left in the position of cleaning up the mess. He referred me to post-op PT (something Dr #1 should have done but didn't) for my left foot and scheduled me for bunion surgery for my right foot--plus removed two hammertoes. I'm still in the recovery stages but so far everything seems to be going well. He'll be injecting alcohol in the remaining neuromas in the hopes of killing them without more surgery, since recovery hasn't been easy. I found him to be very knowledgeable and willing to impart that knowledge towards patient education. The fact that he has a diplomate designation by an accrediting body doesn't hurt and distinguishes him from those who dont.Dr Ross' staff is wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable, and that makes a difference when you're frustrated or in pain.
