Dr. Alden, Larry, Kyle and Chris were caring and kind. From the first day I met them they put me at ease about my hip replacement surgery. I would travel anywhere to have them take care of me again should my other hip need their expertise. Thank you so much for helping me become pain free and healthy.

Dr. Alden performed knee replacement both of my knees. My surgeries took place 3 months apart and were very successful. My knees are already feeling better than they have for years. Dr. Alden has also been very compassionate and reassuring during the difficulties of the CoVid pandemic.

Dr. Alden Takes the time to answer all your questions and explain the procedure. He kmakes you feel confident in his ability to help you regain your mobility and get your life back. Sent his PA to the exam room and seemed very annoyed when I asked to see him to get some basic answers about my injury and treatment plan. Provided very vague answers.

I was referred to Dr. Alden when I was at a place of severe pain and discomfort in my hips which had been brought on by other medical issues. He fit me in the same day I called, being empathetic to the level of pain I was experiencing. He was patient, knowledgeable, professional, listened to all of my concerns, answered my questions fully and was easy to talk to. Dr. Alden is a soft spoken very compassionate, highly intelligent doctor. It’s apparent that He really cares about his patients and is up to date on the latest information and procedures, keeping him at the top of his field. He showed me the x-rays and carefully laid out the need for surgery. He was very articulate and reassuring in explaining the surgery thoroughly and then went above and beyond in accommodating my time restraints into his schedule. After surgery He explained exactly what he had done and what to expect in the days, weeks and months ahead. He also recommended an excellent in home physical therapy company who were as wonderful and caring as his practice. Larry his P.A. was invaluable, informative and encouraging; I always left him with a great sense of peace. Judy, his Administrative Assistant was outstanding and patient in coordinating and navigating all the details to keeps our minds at ease before the surgery. I speak so highly of Dr. Alden and his friendly and helpful staff because unfortunately in my health care treatments, after an accident, they are truly the exception of most Doctor’s practices today. I highly recommend them!

Dr. Alden did great work on my surgery. I am at 6 weeks post-op and feeling pain-free. Soon to be free of a walker and using a cane only. Amazing results for an 83 year-old.

Dr. Kris Alden is not only an extremely knowledgeable and experienced doctor, he is the most compassionate and kindest doctor I’ve met! He is an outstanding surgeon and has the most amazing way of making his patients feel at ease at a time of uncertainty. He performed a total knee replacement after TWO arthroscopic surgeries, two rounds of Euflexxa gel injections and cortisone injections all failed. I was hesitant when Dr. Alden proposed the replacement as an out-patient procedure, but he assured me I was a perfect candidate - I never thought I’d be walking out of the surgical center and into my own home within hours of the procedure with minimal assistance! Three days later I was able to walk without any support at all! I’m so grateful that I was referred to Dr. Alden, as I don’t think I could have had a better surgeon! Dr. Alden is a fabulous orthopedic surgeon. I chose Dr. Alden from a WEB listing and it was the best decision I could have made. I developed pain in my left hip and thought it might be a pinched nerve or pulled muscle. After seeing my X-rays he immediately diagnosed the problem as a "bone on bone" hip that needed to be replaced. He discussed the hip replacement surgery fully preparing me for the surgery and post surgical course. Dr. Alden has a great personality and demeanor and he made me feel very comfortable with the planned hip repair. I underwent hip replacement surgery on a Monday and was discharged home on Tuesday. Wow, I was walking with a walker and using the stairs the next day. Technically, he used the anterior approach that he said would provide a quicker recovery. Dr. Alden's staff called me weekly to check on my status and ask if I was having any problems or needed anything. They were great. I had 2 weeks of home physical therapy and in one month I was walking as if there was never a problem. Today I had my 7-month follow up and my hip is in perfect condition. I am so grateful that I chose Dr. Alden.

He is an awesome surgeon! He did 2 total knee replacements in one month. He really cares about his patients. He personally called me a couple of times to see how I was doing. That is unheard of a doctor calling patients. My knees are doing great! I am able to joint a gym and work out which prior to surgeries was not possible because of the pain I was in.

I highly recommend Dr. Kris Alden if you are in need of a hip replacement. I am a very active 50 year old athlete and needless to say my jaw was on the floor when I was informed that I needed a complete hip replacement. I met with four highly qualified surgeons in the Chicagoland area and zeroed in on Dr. Kris Alden. He understood my desire to return to an active lifestyle and promised that he and his team could get me there. Dr. Alden took time to explain the process, answer my questions and is truly one of the most caring physicians that I have ever met. Dr. Alden performs minimally invasive anterior hip replacements. The anterior technique allows one to recover faster as less tissue is disturbed during surgery. The complete surgical process was seamless. Dr. Alden’s team provides a very detailed pre and post-surgery script. Prior to surgery, prescriptions were provided and a physical therapist coached me on at home recovery (mobility techniques, home layout, dos and don’ts and the like). The outpatient surgery itself was pain free and took an hour. After three hours of recovery, I walked out and went home. An at-home nurse and physical therapist came to my home the next day to begin the recovery process. Having a skilled team for at home recovery is almost as important as the surgery itself. I decided to not “try and reinvent the wheel” and followed the script exactly. I performed the daily mobility and stretching exercises. I was off pain meds in one week. In the two weeks following surgery, I transitioned from crutches, to one crutch, to normal walking. I was driving and back at work in 10 days. Aside from the minor discomfort of incision healing, muscle recovery and my body adjusting the “new normal”, the entire process could not have gone smoother. Dr. Alden and his team were available by phone, email and text. Although I didn’t have any post-surgery issues or complications, it was reassuring to know that “help” was only a call or text away. I could not be any more satisfied with Dr. Alden, his team and the entire surgical process.

Dr. Alden is an outstanding surgeon, but he is also very kind. I got through my surgery without any problems. I would highly recommend him to anyone with hip or knee problems.

Dr. Alden was my second opinion on my hip pain after first being recommended for a procedure to be drilling for decompression of femoral head, and told ultimately down the road I would have to have a hip replacement. My xrays clearly showed bone on bone, so drilling would definitely not have done anything. That first doctor never looked me in the eye while talking, and did not do replacements. Feeling very uncomfortable about this diagnosis, I then went to Dr. Alden and immediately upon my first visit I felt I was in the hands of a truly knowledgeable and caring physician. He spent quality time with me explaining my condition and answered all the questions that I had. I never felt rushed. I also then researched his background which showed high credentials and also a very high standing within my insurance group. Dr. Alden performed my hip replacement perfectly and within 2 weeks I was walking so well that no one could tell that I had a hip replacement! I am ever so very grateful for Dr. Alden's expertise and genuine compassion for making a difficult time in my life such a remarkable process!

Dr. Alden is really busy so I was so glad I got to see him. He gave me a diagnosis where i did not have to have major surgery. His bedside manner was so pleasant so I felt like i could ask him anything and he spent as much time with me as I needed...which is why I probably had to wait a bit for my appt. Never felt rushed and saved me from major surgery...when i do need a hip replacement, I'll make sure to visit him again, in 2 years or so. Grateful.
