Open fracture of ankle bone surgery was successful and that's was great, but I was left with chronic and debilitating swelling upon any and all activity. I had a blood clot in that leg after the surgery which wasn't detected until several months after the surgery. Dr Khera sent me to emergency at that point. Once they did the ultrasound and found the clot, I was put on self injection blood thinners etc. and was told to follow up with my Dr. So I tried to reach Dr Khera naturally since he sent me there, only to be able to leave a message. The next day I get a call from his assistant who is trying to give me medical advice when I am trying to reach Dr Khera because it is important and she is playing interference. I was later scolded by Dr Khera for getting testy with his assistant and told that blood clots are not his area of practice.....are you kidding me! I later developed an open wound because the surgical scar busted open from the constant swelling I had endured ever since. I have had both a Cardiologist and a vein Specialist do testing to find the cause of the swelling and in both examinations the diagnosis was the blood clot I sustained damaged a vein in my leg and does not function properly as a result which is the cause of the swelling in the ankle. So now I learn my condition could of been avoided had Dr Khera the surgeon used compression methods to avoid a blood clot as part of the aftercare of the surgery. I was given blood thinners for a period only by the nursing care facility but not after I got home and still wheel chair bound for several more weeks. So the broken ankle is fixed but was left with an unnecessary painful and debilitating condition that could of been avoided sad to say.

Three years ago I was in terrible pain and using a walker. I was finally referred to Dr. Khera. After spending HOURS with my husband and me, explaining and educating us about my collapsed spine, Dr. Khera assembled a surgical team and performed a complicated surgery on me. While I was in the hospital, he visited me twice a day, and checked in with the nurses more often. Two months later, I was walking upright and could walk over 2 miles at a time. Now, almost three years since the surgery, I can (and do) walk as much as I want and am mostly pain free.

Dr. Khera is a great Doctor Wii listens and cares about his patients. He is one of the best doctors I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I would highly recommend him!
